Thanks, trying to make that decision now, just starting up again after a 10 year break and a bit older and slower......these were my big three choices and now i know there isnt a wrong one!
Strike is king! Always has been but I got fitted for TM P790 as I definitely hit them the best out of my own Mizuno JPX 900 Tours and the Titleist T100's I also tried. However, I didn't buy them - I bought the TM's P7MC's because I just loved the look of them! I'll let you know how I get around the beginning of April lol
I’ve just bought the Srixon ZX5 irons and absolutely love them, as a 15 handicap they give me all the help and feel I need. My only small criticism is that the 8 to PW lofts are bit stronger than my previous TM SLDR irons!
Could play them all 😃...but Mizuno 921 Tour are in the bag because a little bit more forgiveness on a toe strikes compared to my MP18 blades with almost the same soft “feel” 😎But as I mentioned could easily have been P7MC (or older P760) or the Srixon. Problem with Srixon is that in my golfstore (Netherlands) a very limited fitting cart.
I enjoy your honest take on how three ”different” clubs basically are the same and how it comes down to personal preference in the end. Keep these good videos coming!
Good review. I am thinking of changing some v old Miz irons that I currently use. Probably looking more at the Srixon ZX5 and JPX 921 forged but nevertheless this was very useful.
Time stamp 1:26 and 2:23 there is a white orb floating around behind your launch monitor and towards your screen. It appeared in you last video and this one, several times. Is this a ghost...
As someone who usually plays off a high single figure handicap (post lockdown who knows), IMO these are only suitable for a mid HCP is they are a 5-6 HCP iron player (or less) but struggle with some other aspect of the game. I really think most higher single figure HCPs (ie 7-9) would struggle with the longer irons in these sets, nevermind a mid HCP. I cannot comment on the Srixon's because I have never tried them but I have tried the 921 Tours and P760s. The 5i in the 921Tours was for me scarily small but I loved the 7i, soft feeling and so easy to launch. It is a while since I tested the P760s but I was rather disappointed in them, felt harder than I expected and was harder to launch than my i210s for absolutely no benefit. For me when I was doing some testing the surprise club, not part of Mark's video, was the P770. Much nicer feeling than P760 (or P7MC which I have also tried), very easy to launch, has the same lofts as my i210s and (what a surprise) delivered the same numbers as my i210s but in a prettier package.
This reminds me of camera comparisons. Tech all essentially the same, just a matter personal preference RE: looks and haptics/feel. However, do a blind test and they essentially take the same shot. Thanks again Mark!
Strike is KING -- Excellent video Totally agree, considering these and many others are sooo similar , it has to come down to looks/feel and cost. My local shop has the Srixon 150 cheaper... That's a whole 150 more to spend on golf balls to loose!!
Great stuff! Really enjoyed this as I'm looking at buying irons soon and this is the style of club I will probably end up with - saying that, fitting will decide! So close stats and loved the idea of varying shots when testing irons. Cheers - strike is key!!
Thanks Mark, this is absolutely my segment of clubs and I really loved seeing you hit them in a variety of situations against each other. Very good for those comparing for their next purchase. I had been comparing the 921 Pro to the P760, but perhaps the JPX 921 tour needs to get some of my attention.
“Strike is king” well I think I would pick the urm... urm ... one of the three would definitely have to hit them myself to choose. Love these reviews Mark more please.
3 stunning looking sets. Prefer the aesthetics of the Mizuno but have to say the srixon offerings this year are very nice. Hope to be considered a mid handicapper by the end of the season to be justify buying one of them
Did you buy them? I'd say just get em! I'm a 21 hcp and play a Titleist 735cm - combo cb/mb set with blades in 8,9,pw. Love them. After a few sessions gained 15 yards in carry with the heavier s300 shafts and much more accurate in mid and short irons. I'm also dreaming of getting one of these. (I'm a 21 as I literally can't hit metals to save my life. Can't hit a hybrid off the deck and can't keep a driver or wood in play from tee. I lose 12 - 16 strokes from the tee every round. 😭)
Great comparison videos. Since STRIKE IS KING. It will always comes down to looks and feel. I Just got the 919 tours with Nippon Modus 3 120 in the bag 💵 💵
Strike is king - taylormade the favourite for me. I do like the silver ferrule on the mizuno. I feel think more brands should do this. Very classic smart looks. I think I saw a miura line with it.
I was always a Mizuno player until I tried Srixon which 'feel' softer than Mizuno - so I bought SX7s in October. Although with lockdown and weather only played two rounds with them....
Mizuno is clicker - their JPX Tour is a firmer feel than their MP line. The ZX7 is forged at Endo again (first time since the iconic 745). The ZX7 are a dream.
I recently just got a set of JPX921Ts (new) and P760s (used) and there is a lot of similarities. I feel the TM's are a touch more forgiving, especially with that form in the longer irons. The Mizuno's look amazing with the finish and the topline. I do seem to hit the Mizuno's a little higher with a little more spin, but also could be difference in shaft with the Mizuno having Oban125x vs the TM with PX6.5. Currently debating on which to go with as a 10 handicap and leaning towards the Mizuno's because they do have a slight edge on looks/feel.
I do like Mizuno but the srixon looks good too. Would be interested to see a quick look of the strike pattern for each club alongside the stats just to give indication of the variation of strike locations pertaining to the clubs performance. 👍
Swing is looking really solid Mark. If you're not careful, you may come out of this shut down wanting to compete! "the Champion golfer of the year is..."
I used to game the p760 which I loved but lost a little distance. Liked the small offset, feel and small top line. The p7mc is very similar which I tested intensively on the course over five rounds hitting the same shot from different parts of the course and different types of shots (chipping, bump and run, full shots etc) too with gamer ball and in different conditions an don different courses. I tested the p7mc against the zx7; the jpx921 sel/tour; p770; cobra forged tec. Since then have tested the apex pro21. All with graphite shafts. The outcome for me is that the two best overall (drop off, accuracy, dispersion, flight etc) was: 1. Jpx921 tour; 2. Apex pro 21.
Great review Mark! The choice would purely come down to price and preferences aesthetically. Your comment regarding strike seems to align with my following question... How much of a difference does tech really make in relation to scores? Accountability still resides with the golfer, especially, with irons.
“Strike is King” and as with everything, I think it all comes down to what moves you internally and performs for your individual swing the best when you make these kinds of purchases. As for me, I would like to have Mark’s consistency in my swing as that would go a long way in improving my game - LOL!! 👍
Strike is King. I have always been a Mizuno player ever since I hit my first Mizuno forged iron. I'll admit I have hit a friend's Srixon forged iron which looks lovely and feels no different but once you play Mizuno you are loyal for life.
I play the Mizuno JPX EZ (2016) model not with the orange on it and love them. Want to get the MP-20’s. Nothing feels as good as good as Mizuno when you hit the center. Like a hot knife through butter
No! Nothing feels like a Mizuno😍 just wish I could afford a set last set I had I traded in for a set of TM and do regret it. Just six little numbers tonight and I can look for a new set of Mizuno 🙏🏻
Hi Mark your videos are very informative and easy to understand, keep them coming. Your room could do with some acoustic treatment...sound absorption panels to the main walls will make a huge difference 👍🏼
1000 percent agree. I have the Tour's and they sounded and felt night and day different hitting indoors off of a mat compared to outdoors and off grass.
Ping i210 would give all of these irons a run for their money and at about £100 - £150 cheaper than these 3 they are good value as well. Watch for a ping i220 model later this year?
Nothing feels Like a Mizuno..... but nothing compares to the Srixon! Played Mizuno for 30 years until I tried the Srixon 745's 6 years ago and I have never looked back! If you haven't tried them you are seriously missing out... but don't tell your mates about your secret weapons..just keep on taking their money with a smile!
I've played callaway and ping for 30 yrs until last year. I tried srixon z585s and fell in love instantly with them. My bag is now full of srixon and cleveland gear and I'd never change to another brand again. I'm looking at the zx5 or zx7 irons this year as an upgrade
Not related to your video, but lovely to see bay hill in all its glory today on the telly. Not the same excitement the muppet tour created there so far !
I’m going to be demoing 3 or 4 different irons through eBay & free returns including tour edge c521, Cleveland cbx, ( couldn’t get UHX), Cleveland cg 16 & maybe one more, all 7 irons. Plan is to test reaction to the green, not just about distance, but a distance, feel .
I currently play Srixon, but looking to change this year and the only reason why is I'm disappointed in the quality of the clubs, a lot of the paint is coming of the Srixon name at the back of the club, Strike is king.
I was going to ask the same question. I'm a 14. I would guess I'm in the upper range of mid HC. I would also say those are players CB irons (minimal cavity, with weight distributed to perimeter) and are probably suited to 10hc or less, but everyone is their handicap for different reasons. Some crisp ball strikers may putt and chip like hell. I feel the opposite, but love the look and feel of the players club heads, so I'm very torn. Playing JPX 825 Pros which have way more cavity and help than those in the vid.
Handicap is irrelevant. You should always choose clubs based on what you think will help you enjoy golf the most. If you don't play golf a lot and just want something that won't loose distance from off center hits, but will launch high and go far then get game improvement clubs. If you care about being able to work the ball left or right and have time to practice a lot and want to have consistency in your distances then get blades or cavity backs. Those are just general statements and in no way determine for everyone what club you should get. You should just do some testing and get fit.
Hi Mark, a few questions on this comparison, as this Video seemed not so typical for you. 1. Normally you always mentioned that these or that club goes shorter or longer because of loft. Why not this time? You hit them all exactly the same length within 1 yard, yet ZX7 (32 degrees) is half a club stronger than the Mizuno (34 degrees), with the P760 (why not P770?) sitting in the middle with 33 degrees. So they were not the same, usually you always mention it. Why not this time ? 2. you say these are for mid handicapper. May I ask you how you define a mid handicapper from HCP xyz to ? Watching your videos since many years, always liked them, but this time you left me a bit puzzled. Looking forward to your reply as I am maybe just in that bracket you were talking about and would like buy a new set of irons.
Same thoughts. I posted as well. This wasn't a great comparison that I'm used to from Mark. Did he bend them to be the same loft?? He needs to give that feedback to help people buy these clubs. The zx7 plays a full club longer than the mp14. My friend likes the feel and forgiveness the zx7 gives him so he will just have to adjust the number on the club in his head. 7 iron is a 6 iron for him at 32 degrees lol.
I've tried the p760 during a demo day and loved it more than the 770 but it seems like they are harder to find. I have always loved mizuno irons, still the sexiest iron out there.
Hi Mark, love your channel, thank you. I have a lengthy question. I have not played golf for 10 years and started again. Used to be e high single handicapper and played Mizuno JPX 800 pro irons. Irons are still amazing when hit good but i’m wondering if you can suggest new irons that would be a little easier off mis hits. I love the blade feel but is pushing 55. Still hit 7 iron 170 metres at altitude with 110mph swing speed on driver. Be as no nonsense as you always are with your answer I appreciate your frankness! Regards Dougiue
Hi Mark, not surprised to see similar performance when they're all middled. I wonder if if you could hit a bunch of heel/ toe / thin shots and see which one has the most forgiveness?
Love the look of the mizuno and the srizon but I don't care for the vertical strips on the back of the TM
I have the P760's and they are the best feeling irons I've ever hit.
Try a Mizuno MP. Your welcome
@@moritzbunger9447 I've had 2 or 3 sets of Mizzys over the years. I like the P760's better.
I am off 14. I bought the ZX5. Aerotech stiff shafts. Excellent clubs. I love the sole / turf interaction. Probably where Srixon wins.
Thanks, trying to make that decision now, just starting up again after a 10 year break and a bit older and slower......these were my big three choices and now i know there isnt a wrong one!
Top line, sound, aesthetics...clean sweep for Mizuno
I think you mean Srixon
@@crewz4 I love Srixon but I didn't stutter.
Would love to see how the Wilson Staff CB compares.
Yes, more Wilson content!
I think it might be the same...
@@fergusguppy8517
Most likely, but a good bit cheaper.
Just got fitted for D7 forged. Love them snd great price compared to major brands
Was so upset they released those when they did. I had JUST got the T100-S (which I love also) when they were released.
Strike is King. I bought some Mixuno 919 Tours at the end of December. I can’t wait to get out on the golf course with them. So excited!
Same here bought the 919 tours in January ! 😎
Strike is King, but content is king also and Mark you've got some of the best content out there!
I love this test Mark. It really comes down to consumer choice and what you like to see and who you’d like to support. Thanks!
Very good test and comparison.
Those Mizuno irons are lovely!
"Strike is King" well they all look lovely..! Love the shape of the Srixons...!
Please do reviews on Ben Hogan Irons/Drivers!!! Very impressed with the product and they need more publicity from people like you Mark!!! 🙏🏼
I play the JPX 919 Tours and I absolutely love them; strike is KING
Accuracy and feel is what we I want I would choose Srixon
Strike is king!

Graham Tomlin.....have the lofts weakened a degree or 2 if you can't get on with them
I have a blended set with zx7 p-8 and zx5 7-5 = perfect combo!
@@nordanviken4666 are you still using these? It's a similar set up that I'm looking at. What's your handicap?

I have always loved mizuno irons, still the sexiest iron out there.
chose the titleist cb
Mark ''the Robot'' Crossfield tester haha
I would classify these irons are low handicap clubs. Please do a comparison of ZX5, 921 Forged and i210.
I would like to see comparison between steel shafts and graphite shafts
Hi Mark, love your channel, thank you. I have a lengthy question.
I have not played golf for 10 years and started again. Used to be e high single handicapper and played Mizuno JPX 800 pro irons. Irons are still amazing when hit good but i’m wondering if you can suggest new irons that would be a little easier off mis hits. I love the blade feel but is pushing 55. Still hit 7 iron 170 metres at altitude with 110mph swing speed on driver.
Be as no nonsense as you always are with your answer I appreciate your frankness!
Regards
Dougiue
Hi Mark, not surprised to see similar performance when they're all middled. I wonder if if you could hit a bunch of heel/ toe / thin shots and see which one has the most forgiveness?
Mark, test these against the PXG 0211s . I did and PXG was so much nicer.
Mizuno for me :)
