  • In January 2012 Ms Malebo Mokwele and 59 other people registered with Magnum shooting Academy under the impression that they were going to receive training that would make them eligible to work in the security cluster. After finding Magnum in the classified section of the Daily Sun newspaper, and contacting former students of the school, they approached the institution and were told that upon completion of their training they would qualify to work as SAPS workforce.
They enrolled for national certificate policing which cost them R19 500 per individual. They were promised to receive their certificates in 3 months' time. Upon receiving their certificates, the students started job-hunting. However, they found that they were not formally recognised and unemployable because they were not registered with SASSETA.
