- Almost all animals born into our food system face painful surgeries and mutilations. Chickens have their beaks trimmed, cows have their horns removed, piglets have their tails and teeth clipped and sheep have their tails and the surrounding skin removed. All of this is often performed without any pain relief and it is all perfectly legal. So why is this done and why is it allowed?

@Tee Pee I am an animal rights activist and I have devoted my life to saving and caring for animals both domestic and wild. I am certainly not against humans owning animals. What I am against is the blatant exploitation of and cruelty to animals by humans, for pleasure, money, sport, food and vanity. If you think that it is okay to cut little chickens beaks just after they are born, imprison them in a cage so small they cannot even stand up properly, never mind walk around and force feed them so they reach the size required in half the time, how about you try it yourself. Put yourself in those conditions and see how you feel. Be one of those poor dogs trapped in a cage in a wet market in China waiting to be skinned alive because people want to wear shoes made out of dog skin, and yes, the majority of shoes that you buy at places like Rivers, Target etc. are made out of dog skin. I gather from your comment that you are a person of little compassion or respect and, to be honest, I pity you.

I dock my sheep’s tails it’s to prevent fly strike which is a very painful health issue very common in sheep it’s because wool is an ideal environment for blow flies to lay eggs, which develop into maggots that feed on the sheep's flesh... We band their tails when their young rather than cutting them. It is a less stressful and less painful process for the lambs.

The reason this is done is to prevent dung clogging to the tail.
When this happens fly lays eggs kn the dung , resulting in maggots that eat the flesh of the lamb while its alive.
The rubber ring is a far more humane than not applying it

I was not ready to see how they treated those poor piglets. the poor thing must've been in so much pain.
One mid night I had a dream few months back during Covid pandemic. In that dream, I was passing few stalls where lambs where being chopped. I've passed few such stalls and noticed a man was being chopped in similar way like lamb.
This says killing animals is equivalent to killing human.
This dream was an eye opener in my life and after that experience, I stopped eating non-veg.
And they say that things became better and that we are in the 21 century now 😡I hope those activities stop 😣 thank u for spreading awareness 😊

As someone who deeply cares about animals, this is heartbreaking. I am a vegetarian who doesn't drink cows milk, has vegan cheese, and all the eggs we have been locally sourced from a farm that I have seen myself, there is only one worker, and I've actually talked to him. There are 10 chickens, and plenty of space for them to move around. We are thinking of getting chickens ourselves though just in case...

The chickens lose calcium when laying eggs and will develope a deficiency if they can't eat their own unfertilised eggs. Also, nobody wants to own a rooster because they will mess with the eggs so wherever the hens are sourced from, the males will be slaughtered.
Animals are not here to serve us and eggs are not a simple coincidence that nobody is harmed even if they are local or "pets".

@@WoofyMcDoodle actually meat is a highly inefficient way to feed people since animals consume large amounts of folder crops and water out of which only a small amount is converted into meat. Also vegetables are much cheaper than meat, hence meat is largely unnecessary for most people.

I always found it weird how lambs have much longer tails than adults now I know why 😔
I raise sheep and dock their tails to prevent a very harmful and painful illness called fly strike. It happens because wool in general but specifically wet wool is an ideal environment for blow flies to lay eggs, which develop into maggots that feed on the sheep's flesh.... By removing the tails it helps to keep their back ends dry especially in the ewes (female sheep) but in the males as well from any moisture that could be in their stool. We band their tails rather than cutting them while their lambs because it’s a less stressful and less painful process for the lambs. I just wanted to inform about the main reasons us humane farmers dock sheep’s tails, it’s for their health not for harm:)

I’ve been vegan for over seven years, due to allergies and coeliac. I work in agriculture and train sheep dogs. I see all sorts on the farm but Jesus, these videos affect me so much. Weirdly makes me thankful that I can’t have animal products?

My relatives don't do this with there farms. The main reason why they cut horns is so the bulls don't hurt other bulls, but they don't do it in as such of a cruel way as shown here.

Umm as someone who raises sheep I have no clue what you were trying to preach here. Sheep constantly grow wool throughout their life, they don’t just simply stop growing wool. On my farm our ewes(females) are sheared twice a year in spring to get rid of their hot heavy coats for summer as well as in August/September to prepare for a new fresh coat growing for winter. A lot of times farms will bring older ewes to livestock auctions or slaughter houses not because “they don’t grow anymore wool” it’s because sheep can get many different types of diseases some of which would take $100’s of dollars to cure and sheep don’t have a long life expectancy any ways. It is sad I’ve had sheep I’ve tried to nurse back to health and I’m only 15, it was hard for me to loose part of my flock but then again it’s part of farming and life.. if it’s time for an animal or loved one to go you’d rather them not suffer through the pain..

Sadly, the majority of humans put blinkers on when it comes to animal cruelty. They don't want to know about it, they would rather change to another channel on the TV, but the truth is that by doing nothing they are condoning the cruelty. By not exposing commercial cruelty such as battery hen farms and slaughter houses, nothing will change. It is not easy seeing the horrific things that go on, but we are all humans and we need to take responsibility for our actions. Animals are innocent victims who don't have the choice to say NO. Their cries are ignored, their whimpers silenced. They are at our mercy, especially the domesticated ones and those bred specifically for food. Animals don't inflict on each other the kind of cruelty humans show towards them. We are supposed to be an intelligent species but from where I stand, we're pretty dumb when it comes to how we treat other creatures. It doesn't matter what body we inhabit, we all have a place on this planet, we all deserve to live our lives freely in peace and happiness, we all deserve love, kindness, compassion and respect, and yet every day we hear of dreadful acts of cruelty to innocent animals. Those same animals show us love, kindness, compassion and respect but it is undeserved. It saddens me when people make excuses for the cruelty to farmed animals, the horrors of horse racing and other animal sports, and the torture and mutilation of both wild and domestic animals in the name of fashion. This planet doesn't belong to us, neither do the animals. We do not have the right to use and abuse them at our will. It is a shame that humans do not have a predator. If we did, we would surely look at the world in a different way because we would then be in the same situation as those that we predate on. Perhaps then we could truly see life through the eyes of those animals and feel their pain, especially those people who do not believe that animals have feelings and emotions or experience pain.

What a sad cruel world! There is absolutely no compassion or respect for animals.
