Do you have a hyd schematics that shows the psi gains from these mods in the circuit? I'm curious in how the drag racing community figured out these gains in the 60's-70's such as grinding the shift valve removing or changing spring rate etc...Any videos on the pioneers of modifying? And where did you learn these methods. Thanks! great video

My th400 is shifting from 3rd to 2nd just when I slightly touch the gas. Kick down is offline to check if it's a problem with it. But still downshift just by touching The gaspedal. Any ideas?
@@BrianSwayne with the circuit blocked why would you need to install the piston if it's not doing anything? Also the piston that sits in the case that pushes the band can that piston be left out and the band left out? Thanks.
@@BrianSwayne ok thanks. Transmissions rehabs are all new to me but I'm eager to learn. I just didnt know if there was a way to make the factory valve body a reverse manual. I wasnt sure of the difference but I'll be buy one it sounds like ... my next question is the plate you drilled out is for a "shift kit " correct ? And if I were to do that I'd want to lose the spring in that piston ? Last question is with the pump modification. The hole you tapped and then basically brushed it down... does that need to be done on a rock crawler style rig .. and what is the exact purpose of it. I dont want it over heating if that has any relation to that mod

I want it to hold any 1st and 2nd gear in any rpm but drive like normal if started in third gear but I'll be going from reverse to 1st right away and I dont want to screw things up. I'm installing a Fairbanks 20812 shift kit in my 400T, the instructions say to drill a 1/8th inch hole in the valve body in the 2-3 accumulator area, but the instructions are dark and I can't tell exactly where they are saying to drill that hole, do you have any idea where to drill that hole?
While changing fluid in myTurbo 400 I found what looks like a valve body pin loose in the pan. Looking at the front of the valve body all 3 pins look to be where they should be. I'm wondering where this small pin came from. Any ideas?
we have a 1966 buick Riviera with a 400 trans, when you sit in traffic it boils fluid out the vent in the top, we have serviced it no change and recored the rad, still has same problem. any insight we would be grateful
I would suspect that the torque converter is actually bad if the fluid is boiling . Tranny won't last long if the fluid gets that hot. It will actually become clear and burn the red dye out of the fluid
I got a stock turbo 400 out of an rv/c10, what would you advise doing to make it better for dirt track oval racing? It wi ll be going into a g body street stock. Thanks!

I would think your high drum is not sealing and going to second.
What would the difference be if all steps were done but the piston spring was left in?
THE CIRCUIT IS BLOCKED SO THE SPRING NOT NEEDED.

+vernon patterson I think you have a pump problem.I have seen this before & that was the outcome.Pull the pump out & apart to inspect.

I would probably suspect the front pump if oil coming out of breather.That's my 2 cents.

I would just do a complete rebuild with all new clutches & bands.Make it manual/auto as per video.That will allow you to have manual low if needed.
after the valve body modification, would you have to install the forward band
