U2 never fails to amaze me! They have such an awesome stage presence & when they actually played this I was beside myself. They made Soldier Field feel like a very small & intimate venue. It was truly special to experience it! Thank you for posting this and thank you to Bono, Edge, Larry & Adam for sharing this song with their Chicago fans!!!
I've seen U2 numerous times and this was the first time I was ever up this close and EVER got to hear them play "One Tree Hill." Truly an incredible, memorable moment. And our hands are in this vid!!
Lasers, LEDs, Jumbo Screens, smoke, flashes, Claw... all gone. Just house lights and the band coming together, sorting it out and playing. And then the crowd helping out with the screaching and soulful "Raining!...Raining!... Raining!" at the end. For me - Best. Concert Ending. Ever.
I just realized how unique this song is, and feel proud to have been given the opportunity to hear it LIVE since they don't perform this song too often...
I love it when they act like it's all impromtu... I also love the fact they are touring! We have had tickets for great seats in St. Louis... In just 10 DAYS! LONG LIVE U2! Peace..
My wife didn't understand how lucky we were to hear this song until I explained to her that they usually only play this song down under. It's amazaing that they can pull out an unrehearsed song like that and play it as if it had been. This sort of spotanaity is really what U2 concerts are all about and what makes them so amazing!
I love how down to earth Bono is when talking to a really great crowd (like we all were); he's always a nice man, but when he's speaking with U2's audience, he becomes as friendly, unpretentious and accessible as any pal. This show was a shining example of that.
When Bono sent the Edge downstairs after WOWY to "work it out" with the crew and such so they could play this extra song, the energy of the already-wound crowd went up about x3. And after their typical 360 closer, MOS, when Bono launches into OTH acappella, takes out his earpeice...the focus and intensity in stadium went off the scale. Truly blessed!
This rendition of "One Tree Hill" really showed a trust between performer and audience. Obviously, this was an unrehearsed version of the song, pulled from the deepest parts of Edge, Bono, Adam and Larry's brains. Incredible night, I must say!
It's really amazing how relaxed this guys are surrounded by 80 K people. In that stage, even with all the history they carry you can tell that they are just four friends having fun with some of the "closest others friends".
I was talking to a girl in a bar before this show and she was telling me how much she loves this song and how she wished they would play it at the show. They hardly ever play it live and as you can tell, they weren't planning on playing it that night. I hope it made that girl's night.
now that's a moving ending to a concert! pulled out of a fuckin hat but very heartfealt! a song from their mystical peak! one of my top 5 fav songs for sure.
@homerj281 so true, my friend! as you probably already know, it was played last night in remembrance of greg carroll, who passed away 25 years ago this week. we heard the first two verses in oakland in november of '05 when requested by the husband of a woman who died in the 9/11 flight that crashed in pennsylvania. that was the only time it had been played in the US since zooTV. this is the second, and the full version at that! you truly were very, very lucky! cheers!
i was at this. when the edge was warming up with the guitar I swear they were gonna sing Bad, which I wouldve been cool with. But this was awesome too!!
Was a really hot night and a light sprinkle came right at the climax of Streets. Crowd goes WILD. Bono says they've played some loud concerts but gave Chicago props as being especially "noisy." Proven moments later when Bono thanks the roaddies, reminisces about the anniversary of Greg Carroll’ s death, and makes an off-handed comment about the song for Carroll that they “won’t be playing the tonight”; the crowd’s immediate loud, sad groan convinced Bono to reconsider.

Nice to know that when Bono's voice can't do anymore, Edge's guitar can pick up the slack. This was f***ing awesome.
Awesome show, can't believe they did this song. It's my favorite all time U2 song.
It's awesome they went for it and played this underrated classic!
It's nice to see them perform one of those old songs. Great!
Saw this from 10th to last row in Soldier Field- go waaaay back as U2 fan- and wasn't expecting much from there... But this show rocked'

Greatest band EVER. I was at this show. Thanks for putting it on YT.

@willariza00 I think it has a lot to do with the fact that they have hosted a great many shows.
This should be the closer for the remaining North American tour dates
does it sound a little warped or is just me ?
@yankees1234577 hahahaha too true.
