han jisung wrote this song while he was in a slump and said he couldn’t write songs at all. it was around the same time he had to take a break from fan meets and schedules because of his anxiety which was at its peak back then. the song is so extremely emotional and important. fun fact (which you probably know already): “run” was also written and recorded around the same time. han said he didn’t want to re-record it because he wanted to keep the emotion in his voice from back then, so run is 19 year old han talking to us.

The original version of this song is in japanese. Actually it's an anime ending (TOP its the opening, by Stray Kids too). You should check THE FIRST TAKE version... live, one take, japanese... xD Really, don't miss it!
Yeah, "The First Take" of Slump was amazing. My favorite ones are Scars and Mixtape:OH though (there are only 3 but ok lmao), they also show how much they are capable of when it comes to singing live and how much they have improved in between Slump and Scars.
Just wanted to say that SKZ they’re in their own league, I have never seen another group keep their rap elements strong when they do English songs. The flows and everything are kept solid. Most groups when the do English songs the rap elements gets lost. Gotta love SKZ no cap❤
Lotta love for this comment because I’ve said the same thing in other reactions whenever I do other groups. Part of me worries that people think I’m just saying these things bc I ride for SKz but I genuinely believe it, nobody does it better 🫡🔥
@@night_sky_hope I do see your point but it’s not just the elements of it but the fact that SKZ non native English speakers can rap so fluidly in English is what amazes me. I was in a depressive “slump” when this song came out, I remember just listening to this song (Japanese version too) on repeat and crying. It hit HARD.
I'm glad you think Lee know is doing well in English. Lee know and I.N. are the ones who have the most difficulties with English and they are doing their best to improve! So it's nice that you notice it ^^
Han might seem like a very bubbly person on the outside, but man he always makes me cry with his lyrics. He could go so deep touching every dark, real and vulnerable spot in a poetic way. But at the same time, his songs are also comforting in a way that makes ppl think they’re not the only one feeling such feelings. Such an incredible songwriter.
As a huge Stray Kids fan, as well as an English major, your videos make me very happy. I love how you go through and look at all of the technical elements, but also examine the lyrics every few lines. It's very similar to how I'm currently learning to read poetry. We take it line by line and figure out what our assumptions and understandings are about each line the first time we read it. Once we fi ish reading it through for the first time and make all of our notes on our observations, we then look at it as a whole with a new understanding and connect things at the ending back to the beginning. This is precisely what you do I'm your reaction videos. So... TECHNICALLY... I'm doing homework by watching your videos 🤷♀️😂 but seriously, keep up the good work!! 💕
I love how fast you knew that this is a Song by Han. Amazing. It just shows again how much you like these guys and that you study them. An amazing Fan🫰 And it also shows that they are all individuals with different Style and taste and nevertheless, they create this freakin music together. I'm so in love ❤️💜
"Close" is probably the nearest song to _not sad_ that Han's ever shown us. Literally everything else -- from well-known stuff like "Alien" and "Slump"; to stuff that gets overlooked by newer people, like "19" and "Another Day" and "Secret Secret"; to stuff that's been unfairly ignored since release, like "Fairytale" and "Call" (although I admit I'm more moved by and invested in the lyrics of this one than the music) -- is somehow melancholy, at minimum. Even "Sunshine," which _sounds_ calm and comforting, is melancholic when you know he wrote it to encourage people to pause and try to find peace for three minutes while listening to it, because he himself needed that kind of peaceful break. And "Close" is kind of a trap anyway, since it really just sets up songs two and three ("Wish You Back" and "HaPpY") in the trilogy of that doomed relationship. Han is the definitive emo in a group of emos. There's a reason that when that fan in the gift project said, "Somewhere in Korea, there's a boy who knows how I feel," 95% of the fandom went "SAME!" _Edit: Ok, obviously this doesn't include "I Got It." Diss tracks from p1ssed-off rappers are in a different category._
Teddy I’m with you on what you said when those first bars from Changbin hit you and you had to go back again and again. The same happens to me every single time with one specific bar on Verse 2 of “Streetlight”. My brain responds different, it gives me chills. Note: Indeed, Slum was written by Bang Chan and Han.
As an older STAY, following for 2 yrs, knowing Hans story and way he is. I believe he has ADHD and can have crippling anxiety and self doubt a lot. We see him act the biggest clown, but if you notice han on videos, he’s either loud and fun or very quiet and looks nervous. His level of distraction but also his blocks he can have. And he’s explained he’s not good at finishing a track and massively grateful to Chan for how he finishes a track han creates lyrics and melody for. He’s a amazing human, they all are. I just hope for Han, he can overcome his anxiety level as we as STAY hurt to see him struggle and only want good things for our little quokka 😍
YESSSSSSS I LOVE THIS SONG 😭😭 i love how much you appreciated it, AND that you figured out it was a hannie song 😭 they did such a good job translating both SLUMP and TOP across three languages; my preference for both of them is jpn -> eng -> kor.
I’m not ashamed to say I shed tears every time I listen to this version of Slump…and Binnie’s line hits me. We all want to know we are doing a good job. Telling yourself that makes me so soft because it may mean there’s no one but you to do it. Being strong for yourself. 💞
lmao not you assuming this song is han's and actually getting it right. Han is a mood, all the fandom can know when a song is written by Han just by that exactly same reason, slay
Slump is such a good song with beautiful vocals. Personally I prefer to listen to the original Japanese version they released because idk something about the language just seems to highlight the vocals and melody more for me

original lyrics by han, english lyrics by bang chan and a woman lyricist i forgot the name of (so sorry, she also translated levanter!) bang chan produced the track all by himself.
I thought she just worked on translating Levanter WITH BangChan.... I wasn't aware of any song he simply allowed someone else to translate. Specially one like that... Without him all together huh? Wow that's a crazy level of trust. I was actually under the impression that with the languages being what they are, it's very very easy to translate incorrectly what is actually being said. Therefore Chan actually does the majority of all the translations In order to make sure that the members true motives and meanings get across correctly. Dang, I had no idea he allowed an outsider to translate it themselves. Nothing wrong with it of course if it was his decision. I'm just really surprised. I know that on many other occasions, they are really just there to help with thesaurus type words. To try and make the song not only run smoothly, but to help keep the rhyme scheme going strong. This song was written by Han indeed and it was translated by Bang Chan for the English version
2:02 I love the way Changbin sings this part
Such a good song. Love SKZ ❤
One of my absolute favorites!!! 🔥
I’m not surprised you like this one, it’s a gem. Slump is the only SKZ track that I enjoy the English version just as much as the original. I definitely echo the others that suggest checking out the First Take version!
And also chanbing - tomorrow
You should definitely watch the first take version of this! It’s amazing!
Thx for reacting

Teddy, I never recommend you bad things! And in principle, there's nothing wrong with the Stray Kids discograph😄Thank you very much for the reaction💋Next I want to advise you on this Silent Cry❤️
You should watch the one-take video of this song. They were so awesome that you will get goosebumps.
Thanks. Every time I enjoy watching your reactions and analysis of poems.
Did you watch Stray Kids performance at the Golden Disk Award? They performed with Superboard, Freeze and Case143
I love you chose the English version, it is not reacted as much bc there's the kor and jap versions.
