Hello there Gribley! A newish subscriber here and I'm loving the videos. I realize I'm a month late commenting on this particular one but my love of Petersons compels me, haha. If it's the p-lip and the reservoirs that turn you off to them they do make many non-system pipes with regular fishtail stems. Would you ever consider giving one of those a try? Anyway, keep up the great work!
I would def give a non-system Peterson a try! I thought that was their whole thing, didn't realize they made pipes for regular people. :)

You almost had an open mouth insert foot here moment. Well, several of them. But i think you're doing alright. Just a dude talking about stuff on the internet. It happens.
Unless you are a serious drooler that habitually blows into your pipe its not likely spit in the moisture trap. Humidity in the air can contribute but its more likely to be the moisture in the tobacco being released by the heat and drawn into the shank and stem where it meets the slightly cooler material and forms condensation. Or some processes similar to that.

I love Peterson pipes and the 309 I have 6 of them. The trap is not for your spit it's the moisture in the tobacco it's a dry smoke. Been smoking them for over 30 years and when I try others I do not enjoy smoking a pipe.
