I'm in the minority that prefers the model 48 over the 43x.

Dennis, nothing wrong with the 48. Like you I find myself preferring that with a slight edge over the 43X. Thank you for watching commenting.

Yeah my brother has a 48, I didn’t know what it was until he showed up saying he just picked it up. Really cool idea. Kinda like a Kahr CT9 that works 😂

Carry what you’re confident with by all means. For the last couple of years, I’ve been running a 43x with shield conversions and it’s been serving me well for what I do for a living, and how I have to conceal. plus I have smaller hands myself, so the frame size is a bonus. Now my uncle has the 48 and it shoots beautifully.

@@Sheltowee1775really good actually. And he manages to efficiently cover all the necessary details in a reasonable amount of time, with range footage. Not to short, not to long.

I think using the Shield Arms magazines in the 43x is a bad idea. Regardless of how good they might function for some people, the probability that an aftermarket mag will fail is much greater than the probability of needing more than 11 rounds in a self-defense scenario.

      Yes sir, vert fair point.
And I'd note I've fired sever hundred through the Shield Arms Gen 3 mags without one stoppage.

I think too many people who are less familiar with all the varieties of pistols available today get pigeonholed into picking a gun because they relied on someone they thought "more experienced" to tell them what choice was best. With all the variables body shape, clothing, hand size, holster type and positioning, season, experience, caliber etc someone may find that one pistol is the best fit for a part of the year and another for other parts of the year. No one pistol is perfect for everyone by a long shot. I have large hands but I like you still vastly prefer the thinner gripped pistols and I'm willing at times to sacrifice round count for that because I'd rather have 10 sure shots with a gun I'm 100% with vs 15rounds with a gun I'm 90% with. Good video and info as always.

Thank you for commenting. I agree with you. A lot of people do whatever others tell them versus trying different pistols, and finding what works best for them. As you pointed out, there are no perfect options. There are always compromises and it’s best to choose based on the specific application, the operator is trying to fill.
Appreciate you taking the time to comment. Stay safe.

I tend to carry my Glock 19 the most. But I probably like my M & P compact and my P365XL a lot better. The Smith just feels premium and I have one of the older 2.0 models that has the hinge trigger. The Sigg it’s innovative and it’s amazing. I just wish the grip was a little bit longer front to back for my large hands, it’s great little gun. I just go back to the Glock 19 because it’s a little bit easier for me to work with larger hands and it’s lighter than Smith.
But as you alluded to, it’s really more about having the skill and the gear. If you know how to shoot a pistol, you can pretty much grab anything and be competent. The gun really doesn’t matter that much.

100% agree with what you said. It really is a matter of proficiency more than a specific brand or model.

Thank you very much for this interesting video. The G48 fits the hands of a lot of persons with smaller hands who cannot use a "service" pistol correctly. The G48 is controllsble and managable enough to train these persons.
Although the G43X may correspond to a public of highly trained people and security professionals, the G48 has its own public .

I've had some serious issues with those mags. I had to go to psa and get the dagger 15 round mags they work just fine. The shield arms? I'll pass.

Sir, thank you so much for sharing your experience. I put several hundred rounds through five different shield, arms magazines and they seem to be working fine. I do know the GEN three versions of that magazine are allegedly better. Thank you so much for sharing the other option, which is the PSA Magazines.

Paul, thank you for watching and commenting. I personally really like the 48. The slim frame combined with the same site radius as the Glock 19 delivers a very balanced and easily concealable pistol. There is less felt recoil with the Glock 48 went compared with the 43X. I do like both pistols. You can’t go wrong with either.

Mark, I have a similar observation. I think it’s the extended beaver tail or a bit more of a beaver tail on the 48 as well as the barrel length the provides that balance and point ability.

Charles, thank you so much for commenting. I agree if I’m looking for a fighting handgun the Glock 19 would be my choice. In this case I was referring to the application of concealed carry for the average person.
I also appreciate your feedback about the shield, arms magazines. I have had no issues with them so I will closely watch whether or not they perform.
