Good video! I bought the Bauer band saw for my son, and later was able to get the mounting stands for both of us. I also bought me a Hercules saw and did not have the problems you did with the trigger. However, the last little part of your video addresses my problem with the saw cutting straight vertically. :)
When I bought the stand, HF had not released the Hercules saw yet. That is why I had the Bauer saw. But on the stand box it showed a Hercules saw, so I figured the stand was more set up for the Hercules saw shape. Glad the video helped and thanks for watching.
@@TheGarageEngineer Still working with the saw. It cuts square, front to rear, but the blade 'tilts' and cuts at an angle. Very frustrating!!
Any ideas??
Thanks for the video - I've been wanting to get this mount when I fine one. Another option for power is to use a pedal switch from HF and just zip tie the trigger on the saw. I have that set-up on my vertical band saw - if something goes wrong just take your foot off the pedal and the saw stops
I’ll have to look into the foot pedal. Good idea
Thanks for the info. Finally got mine and it's today's project.
Awesome!!!
The black drop down guard/stop thang has to come off the saw so you can move the saw up on the mounting slots enough for the switch lever to work. This will also increase your cut capacity.
I will have to give it a try.
@@TheGarageEngineer also I put the switch bar on top and put the screw in from the bottom. Works way better and less messing around. So blade guard off and switch on top with screw in from the bottom. Works perfectly no bending required 👍
I’ve got the same setup, I bought the Bauer saw & a day later a friend sold me a Milwaukee for a good price so I’m returning the Bauer. The Bauer was so freaking loud, holy crap, Milwaukee is sooo much quieter & smoother. Nonetheless Bauer will get the job done & is a good value for the price.
I've been looking for a Milwaukee used for a long time at a good price. I'll continue to look. Good to know about the loudness comparison. Thanks for watching!
I just put a piece of rubber hose on it. Work's fine. 🙂
Good Idea. Thanks for watching.
Put trigger bar on top....not bottom
Exactly and maybe put on a washer or more as necessary.
Just bought exact same setup and had the same initial problem.
Had to slide the saw so the factory fence is right up close to the fence on the stand in the horizontal position. It’s in the directions.
You don’t need to bend the bracket.
Ill have to relook at that, but I think that is what I did and it still didnt work. Thanks for watching.
This looks a great kit, where can i buy a Hercules Portable Band Saw Stand Assembly kit in Australia
It is sold by harbor freight in America. I have not seen this style sold by anyone else yet. But it is manufactured in china so I bet a copy will be made soon.
Do use the chopsaw part of it much? Or do you think it would be better to just get a dedicated upright mount from another company that doesn’t take up that extra space on the front of your bench and also has a slot in the table for a miter guage?
For the projects I need this for I do use both vert and horizontal cutting. If a persons space and budget allows It I would get 2 separate units. But this tool is very capable at cutting. This does not have a miter gauge slot in the table. Thanks for watching.
Wen makes a foot pedal switch for $10 or $15 bucks. It came with my Wen brand bandsaw but you can buy just the foot pedal. I have not confirmed if the wen bandsaw fits the Hercules stand but it looks like it will. I’m waiting for HF get them back in local to me. I have used Wen on the swag table and it’s nice having the foot pedal switch.
good idea. I will have to try it out. Thanks for watching.
Screw the trigger bar from the bottom and trigger bar on top of frame.
.
The bandsaw is incorrectly mounted in the stand. It has to sit lower down, so the blade sits lower in the base slot also. Second to last hole. I have the same setup, no problems.
Please elaborate;maybe with a picture because I can’t figure out what you are saying.
I fiddled with mine for 2 hours yesterday and couldn’t get the thing to cut square. However, like an idiot, I wasn’t using a square, but was trying to “eyeball” it. To compound the problem I was test cutting on .095 1 3/4” tubing. Watching the author use the square and the wood I was like “🎉😮”.
Seeing him use the square on the cut piece to check alignment in both directions was a major “head slap” moment for me….Sometimes I just amaze myself!!
You don't have the band saw mounted correctly. That's why the switch doesn't work.
Is there any videos on the right way of installing because I’m having the same issue
@@troyareson8075 He's got it in there correctly, it's just the switch thing wasn't thought out very well for a Bauer. Buy a footpedal, and zip tie the switch. That will save on the in handle switch contacts from wearing out.
Mine was in the second to last hole. It would start, but then the switch would release. Instead of bending my mechanism I inserted a piece of plastic tubing to take up the gap. Worked perfect.
Thats a great ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Great idea.
When you start something you should finish it. I guessing you don't know how to mount correctly 3:50

Always that one guy who has to show the class how much smarter he is than everyone else.
Good catch on seeing that, but geez, I bet you’re a blast to be around…..
#NOT
$17 foot pedal fixes this problem.
Yes that would be a great upgrade to. Thanks for watching!
Couldn't you have just bent the front bracket down a little qnd called it a day?
yes, but it is fun tinkering. Thanks for watching.
Sorry my man, but why do a diy video when you don’t really know what you are doing? The stand was designed by real engineers, user error is at fault here. Thanks for the not what to do video.
Hmmmmm…..I learned a lot from this video. I might do some things differently, but I don’t think he deserves a “how NOT to DIY comment”, my man.
How’s about making your own video? Or, at the very least, outline what you are talking about…..my man.
