We need someone to challenge them, to bring in more innovation and give us another choice. My dream scenario would be if OakOS reacted to the whole mess by focusing on security - there is a BlackBerry-shaped hole in the market, nobody really focuses on combining security and innovation anymore, so if Huawei managed to do that then I would switch to them without a second thought.

Essentially what US has done is forcing a capable company to accelerate R&D and be self-sufficient without being dependent on other companies. IF Huawei succeeds on all fronts, they’ll be able to produce all the parts you need on any IT gadgets and sell it to other manufacturers at a cheaper price, undercutting all western competitors. Western-based companies will have to either be so much better (and convincingly at that) or try to match Huawei’s pricing in order to stay relevant. Lowering prices = lower profits = reduced job opportunities etc etc. This is just the beginnings of a massive economic war. We’ve only just scratched the surface here.

I am a Samsung Fan, I admit it. BUT last year I choose Mate 20 Pro instead of Note 9 and I was blown away of the level oh Huawei Technologie I switched for S10+ because I still am found of Samsung UI. BUT I am pretty sure that I'll buy Mate 30 Pro over Note 10 or P40 Pro over S11+
