Hello I'm a big fan of digs and Mook and it would be my Dream to meet you Digs and Mook please reply to my comment I'm very inspired by you guys and I wish to have a channel like you please reply
If yall are ever around the center of missouri area near kingdom city/Columbia More than welcome anytime to pitstop at my house. Tools, Warmth, Beds, you name it buddy!
It would be awesome to see if a can of Restore would improve performance on one of these clapped out engines on your long trips. Like after a few hours of driving or by the time you get home, maybe it would improve the power situation a little.
My 84 Chevrolet citations clapped out and I'm still driving it today these newer cars just don't add up to what these older ones can do
JunkyardDigs-How much did you pay for that Chevy Caprice?!
That black Jeep though 👀
A wild Mook appears!
Moooooook hi
Will you have a series on your. Channel about it?
Mook will ya have any more videos
The locals call her “Mook”. Us gringos refer to her as the “mooknessmonster”. It’s a rare sighting, but entertaining on the occasion you may witness this office creature.
Angus is freaking hilarious. Together with Kevin is gold. Kevin+Angus+Dalton is almost like a comedy routine not a car show.
The Three Stooges!!!! They need to remake tht comedy show. One of my all time favorites. They already hve the characters for the show n this video. 😄
This was by far the funniest Angus has ever been on camera : )
@@handyman1957 I'll 2nd tht
lol threw out the trip. so good!
The new top gear
The Impala EARNED the small block. It literally FOUGHT for it's LIFE to get you somewhere, even though it was dead sick. So looking forward to see it soldier on in the future with V8 power and overall roadworthy again! 😍
I think the little 3.8 earned a rebuild honestly if it can be done. That thing would not give in.
Yes!!! @@JRC99
@@JRC99 If it wasn't for the last few minutes I would agree. But nah, that thing is probably way past saving.
@@GlamStacheessnostalgialoungeI’m not saying it would be worth it, but I don’t think that seemed like a catastrophic failure. Didn’t seem like it threw a rod or anything so it maybe could probably be rebuilt imho. Maybe that warped the heads or something getting so hot idk. I never did anything like that to a motor.
@@swamp-yankee I did, but to be fair that motor was somehow running with a rod knock for 2 years, and I tried killing it, but it just refused to.
This was very impressive.
So nice
Nice video
Amazing😮😮
NO NOT TIMEBUCKS
The fact that that engine made it all the way to Daltons, survived several minutes of redline, nearly seized, re-started, then went another minute before fully seizing, is amazing.
I think it deserves a rebuild in honor of its service
@@nou8257 A rebuild... and a turbo.
@@nerd1000ifythen you would have a grand national engine
And that is why 3.8L GM V6s are so notorious for being next to impossible to kill!!
@@91CavGT5 people confuse the earlier 3.8 with the 3800. they arent the same. the 3.8 had somewhat high internal resistance..... the 3800 was a complete redesign and it was and still is an incredibly tough engine. the 3800 has staggered cylinder banks, the deck was redesigned. i still, to this day have 2 cars with 3800 engines. i wont drive them in the winter. i have a 97 grand prix with a NA 3800 and a 2003 bonneville SSEi with the L67 supercharged
Angus is truly the character that just collects loot
He earned his coveralls from rescuing the slick side
He earned the matching jacket from the barn of cars and loose tools
Now he has earned bear blanket from this adventure
Agreed ! I Got a kick out of those bear puns
@@Ezemdi I loved when he was warming up and pulled the hood down and Kevin turned to have a conversation with a bear
😂😂😂😂
He has +30% resistance to magic attacks now when fully equipped. Too bad there is no magic.
@@quixototalis That poor engine was running on magic for a while.
The car in Paris Tx. Is a 1975 Bricklin. I've had it five years. Work in progress
Awesome car man. I’m from south-central texas
I have one as well. Needs a frame up restoration.
Immediately that is what I thought, looks like some hood mods though,
The catch can "fix" was honestly pretty genius... All that was missing was some way to have the oil recurculate back into the engine without needing to stop (maybe even by repurposing the windshield washer motor as an oil injection device, similar to what Deboss garage did in a fairly recent video where he drove a duramax Chevy with a blown head gasket from Texas up to the border). Rigging up something like that probably would have doubled the range between oil refills, which to be fair probably wouldn`t have made much of a difference
I swear, Kevin was DYING for most of this vid. I think he reaaalllyyy liked the fact that someone else was suffering as much as he usually does!
I felt bad, but it was refreshing😂
@@JunkyardDigs😂
@junkyarddigs. The eifle tower with the cowboy hat is by the police station. Just FYI for your next trip to northeast texss
Kevin was wheezing so hard as if he had a vacuum leak somewhere.
@@JunkyardDigs if its not happening to you, its hilarious 😉
Please do a teardown episode on that engine. I think we'd all like to see the carnage!
Honestly, ball hone it and toss new rings in it and I bet it runs again.
Just put in a Buick Grand National engine.
Donate it to Eric over at "I Do Cars", he's does great engine autopsies. 😃
Still waiting for the teardown on the California wagon, too
They were hilariously gutless engines. I’m pretty confident that it’s a 229 V6. Burns the same gas as a V8, 1/2 the torque and 1/3 the HP.
That little 3.8 deserves a posthumous medal of honor. It was critically wounded, but soldiered on for hundreds of miles.
I have never in my life felt so sorry for a car. How that little sucker held together long enough to even get to Dalton's amazes me. On the other hand, i have never laughed so hard over a video in my life. Well done Sirs and I can't wait to see what's next for the little Impala that could.
Yep
The neighbors say they really enjoy looking at it sitting next to the school bus. Said they're going to call the county on me, I'm guessing for some kind of award.
😂
How does this not have more lights
The exhaust leak and oil fumes mustve been getting to me, too. Laughing my head off at these un-bear-able jokes.
Oh come on, those were BEAR-ly funny… 😂
It’s the oil filter that was full of impurity’s
The fact that this episode isn’t called “The unBEARable trip home” is a real shame! 😂
Some one get this man a beer
@@s.j.williams894get him a bear
That 3.8 was an absolute unit with angus behind the wheel screaming down hills at 70+
I don't know what I want more, a teardown of that 3800, or a teardown of the 351 out of the wagon. Regardless, this was a JYD classic.
That is not a 3800 as the 3800 did not come out until 3/1987 for FWD cars and the 3800 is a 231V-6 while this RWD POS is a 229 CI V-6 no balance shaft odd firing while the 3800 was even firing after 3/1987. Those old 3.8 came in the FWD versions as well a those wee the red dot 231 V-6 for FWD beginning in 1985
I am definitely interested in a teardown. No rebuild, but definitely a teardown.
@@chrislemaster2695 The 229 had the distributor in the front of the engine. the 231 was in the rear. I had an 84 regal with the 231 and an 83 caprice with a 229. the regal would run circles around the caprice. This engine looked like a 231.
Definitely going to take that 351 apart soon!
this is not a 3800, that engine didn't come out until 1987/1988 this is likely the Chevrolet 3.8 which is the same architecture as the Pre Vortec 4.3L V6 used in the GM trucks of the era.
Definitely need a teardown video of that engine.
Them 3.8’s are strong little engines when firing on all 6.
You mean all 2? 🤣
YESSSSSSSSSSs
Yees! See just how bad the inside of that engine is would be soo funny 😂
No rings, no valve seals, cam is wiped, just a mess lol
I'd LOVE a teardown of that thing.
Awesome episode. The banter between Kevin & Angus is a joy. The uphill sections reminded me of Duel. All that was missing is Angus shouting, "you can't beat me on the grade".
Random Stranger - "I like your car ! " Angus - "I know she wasn't talking to me !" Lolol 🤣
this is a classic testament to the saying "a chevy will run like shit longer than most cars will run good" and im all for it.
Can we get an AMEN 😅
Tried to blow my 350 when it was on its last leg, it wouldn’t.
Thanks for promoting pole barn garage. Really enjoying that channel and the humour.
Whenever you turn up at someone's house after a situation/s, at some horrible time, and they're like I got you for beers. You know they're legends..
Yeah, Dalton IS the Man!!❤
PBG is awesome. Dalton and JD, and now, Jess are great!
For real!
The Chevrolet Impala - always gets you home. She had SPIRIT, and she did it!
That thing was majestic when it finally pulled into his driveway "bearly"
Any episode with Angus is a plus to an already awesome channel. The guy is just fantastic. Keep him around Kev!
Oh he'll be around! I was trying to hire him full time before we even graduated college 😂
BTW, the catch can for the blow by was genuinely a stroke of genius. I was exhausted watching you two struggle with driving that thing to Dalton's!@@JunkyardDigs
I hope Daltons channel blows up as big as JYD's. He's a good dude.
My mother had a Caprice Classic like that. Hers had the burgundy velour seats, carpet and headliner. The padded dash and plastic wood grain was classy. I really loved the bench seats with the low headrests. Very comfortable.
This has been one of my favorite episodes. The catch can is genius. And the Impala is parked in the perfect place...next to the JAAAAAGGG.
That engine turned into an oil refinery! You just put crude oil in it and it leaks different types of oils. I don't know how it still ran for that long. Great videos keep it up!
lololol
this may genuinely be the single funniest video you’ve posted in the history of this channel, and I’ve watched them all, probably twice!
Definitely the funniest by far
This and The Van™️ video are the top two funniest videos
The Van episode was much better. This is a close second.
Yep and Dalton in the mix always turns it up a notch haha.
Angus kind of reminds me of Planes Trains and automobiles driving that impala with every warm thing he owned on. 😂❤
6:39 finding a Briklin SV1 is rare. Finding one in *that* kind of shape, and not taking film of it, is a personal affront to my love of automobiles. These cars are well known for only being found halfway rotted into the ground and completely undriveable. Whoever owns that one had taken outstanding care of it.
Been waiting part 2 of this trip for what it felt like a eternity! worth the wait ❤
I know , this has been the longest 2.5 weeks 😂
Same!😂

They always run the best right before they let go. What a freaking epic episode!
Literally every time he said it wasn't going to make it, it somehow found a second wind. What an adventure.
@41:35, I've NEVER seen recycled blow by oil being used...EVER...nice!!! Guys should get an award for that idea. Novel.
that was a very great idea hell if they stopped by a parts store they coulda plumbed it into the valve cover so it just refilled itself
@@TylerDuysen a cola bottle fits snugly on the vent hose of some cars, so you can make a small vent hole in the bottom and fit the bottle upside down and it actually drains back, ask me how i know lol. Also some gear oil reduces blowby of a dying engine significantly.
This is Roadkill revived : ) Laughed my ass off. You guys were great. Cannot believe how much blow by that engine had. A worthy send off!
I’m very impressed with how well that engine endured , that helps give me much faith to be a mechanic
The smoking dipstick nearly had me choke on dinner, well done! Such a fun and funny episode with you two clowning around!
The more I see Angus, the more I wanna see Angus. Dude is such a good guy and is funny as fuck! I In Arkansas, you could tell that he was buzzed from the carbon monoxide and slap happy from the lack of sleep. He's a trooper, though! Great video as usual, Kev!
Kevin is a comedic catalyst. Maybe the best straight man on the tube. He refuses to quit, and brings out the comedian in everyone around him. When the smoke clears, you realize he has taught you something new about getting home in a car that can't possibly make it! His collabs are always hilarious, regardless of who he's hanging out with. Kevin is a truly generous, joyous soul.
FYI...A straight man, in this case, does not mean heterosexual. It comes from having someone on the crowd that sets you up to succeed.
Did you know that Angus Has a favorite Pizza topping! yup! Comedian Bacon!
Best episode ever. Angus is my favorite. He is "beary funny". Keep up the good work guys!
Angus is a real blessing to this Channel! Thank you Angus greetings all the way from the Netherlands!
I was watching PBG the night that they showed up with this rig. I was hoping to see the story behind it and finally did. That wasn't a road trip, that was a nightmarish odyssey right out of Dant'e Inferno. Great job, lads!
Same here :D
“Nice to see you I guess.” This is better than any Roadkill I’ve ever watched.
“You beat 20! High score.” 😂
a SERIOUS testament to how tough those old engines were
1 of your best videos yet. That was entertaining.
I used to drive a taxi in Atlanta and I had an 87 4.3V6 that used to charge it’t own oil every 12 hours. Smoked just like that every night. It lasted 6 months before it dropped a valve. 367k Atlanta taxi miles.12 hours of BS 6 days a week. About 250 miles per night.
The most Emmy worthy episode yet 🏆
Recycling oil out of the PCV is... Ingenious. Great video, this was a lot of fun
Ive been waiting for this one! You have to do more road trips with Angus! You two together is freaking hilarious!
Man I always love happy endings so happy the car made it to its destination without a single issue and still running like a Swiss watch. 👍🏻 57:36
15:34 "I know she wasn't talking to me." LMAO one of the funniest angus one liners we've had on the channel.
How the hell can you drive a car like that without getting pulled over... If I tried to drive that 2 miles in any direction in my town I would be busted for sure 😆
I don't think they wanted to do all the paperwork 😂
I've been pulled over before because one of my LICENSE PLATE lights were out! These guys were straight up driving around without functioning brake lights 🤣
I live in portland and had a 92 civic sedan that smoked like this. Never had problems lol
Glad that cars gone
When my 2nd gen Ford Ranger was on its last leg, it would burn 5 quarts of oil within an hours drive and you couldn't see anything behind the truck for atleast a mile due to the smoke screen. Never got in trouble for that, but I always drove on gravel roads. It did eventually give up, but it didn't seize up, just spun the bearings and refused to start. Wound up scrapping it for less than $100 since the body was all rust and dents, the engine was shot, and the transmission was definitely about to give up as well.
What a gorgeous, handsome car. I grew up with these (and Caprice Classics) EVERYWHERE! So I have a soft spot for this specific gen of Impala.
What a story! That catch can idea was genius and really saved the day!!!
lol. Back in the late 90's, I drove an 1982 Impala for a taxi cab. It was the 305 with a Q-jet variety. This was easily one of the best cars I've ever owned! It had easily, 500,000 miles, and still going when I gave it to my brother. After many more miles he managed to kill the transmission (700R4?) and it went to the grave yard. Status: Legendary
Th350
700r had overdrive
You are right. It had overdrive, so it would have been the 700R4. Although I recently got a 305 out of a '77 that came with a metric 200.... @@briantruck2284
@@briantruck2284 in 82 it could have been a 200-4r or th200

I learned to drive in a 1977 Impala, my 1st car was a 1976 Cutlass S. This takes me back.
Great Video and I can’t wait to see what you have in planned for 2024! It’s so cool to see how far you’ve come from working on stuff in your dads garage with you brother, to having you own shop and so many dedicated sponsors. It’s so awesome to have been able to see your whole journey on RUclips.
Dude, i love pbg and how he's just cool with you guys pulling up to hang out. Exactly how i'd be with my buddies. Ya'll got a good dynamic with eachother.
I reckon those stickers really do give a car immortality. This is the greatest product advertising ever
This has to have been one of the best videos you and Angus have put together! I have laughed more in the last hour than I have in months! Thank you guys! It almost makes me want to take a road trip like this-although I don’t have a competent co-pilot to keep the car moving or swap an engine if needed!
Great job guys looking great and looin bforward to further video episodes!
That road side oil catch can was a brilliant idea!
And you saved $1000's in new oil
And you kept it off the road where a unsuspecting motorcyclist could hit the oil slick but he won't be able to get your license number because of the smoke screen
Well done 007
Angus is hilarious. It’s always a highlight when he guest-stars.
Thanks for making some entertainment I can enjoy while out OTR! ❤
I have been praying the entire time we would get to see it get hammered to the point where the engine turned into one solid piece of metal!!!!!!!! Great job guys!!!!!
What an awesome journey pain ridden journey to watch. That little 6 cylinder gave everything it had, gave its life to get them home. Pushed it as far as it can go. Somehow that engine was getting worse oil per gallon than miles per gallon and held on. 😆
We drive a 78 Cadillac fleetwood we found around, we drove it 1200km back and forth this summer and it was a smooth sail
Got to be the funniest episode I have seen yet, angus is hilarious. 😂😂😂😂
Now I haven’t even driven since my comas began, hence the brain tumor in 91 . But Kevin, your zany adventures and resurrections of these cars I grew up with are AWESOME ! I can’t do anything like this anymore, but watching you is a great way to remember that enjoyment of discovery and rejuvenating !!! Keep the thrill going 👍
I seriously do NOT know what to say. This was a great show, guys -- and that you ended up at DALTON'S was the topping on the cake. I can't wait to see what happens next with this poor Impala. What a beast.
I have literally cried of laughter this was one of the best episodes i have seen in this channel keep up the good work buddy 💪💪
Kevin's hysterical laughing through this video was matched by own 😂 I love when Angus is around! I roadtripped a 78 El Camino with the 3.8 one time with a crack in the block and it got kept home miraculously. You guys are legends. Thank you as always for the awesome content and inspiration 🤘🤘🤘
I think this might be the most I've ever laughed at one of your videos. Angus is a national treasure.
This was one of the best and funniest Junkyard Digs videos yet! Thanks, Kevin, Angus, and Dalton! Keep on diggin'!
i had an 80 impala with the same engine, it was blue with gold vinyl top, had nice headliner in it, no sign of leaks, great oil pressure but i think it got hot going up a hill in passing gear, it shut off when i let off the throttle, then knocked when i got it started. it looked decent with the rally wheels that were on it. i know the oil pressure was good because with the valve covers off it would fling oil all over the fenders.
This was one of the funniest trips, I've watched on your channel. I was literally laughing so hard, I was crying! 😂
Hey, I personally want to thank you guys for fogging Fayetteville for bugs, that was really awesome lol! Really though, it is awesome to see you guys had made it this far on that poor Impala. And I would like to add, I picked a bad time to watch this video, trying not to wake roommates! HAHAHAHAHA!
JYD and Angus are comedic gold! Add Dalton in there and I might piss my pants!
My favorite videos are of these unknown trips in unknown cars. I would watch a whole series of these
I love these type of videos. Cheers from the UK. I lost it at the bear coat 😂 can't believe that engine lasted the whole way. It wanted a final ride.
That little car was such a trooper. You and Angus are hilarious! I definitely want to see what the fate of that car is. Thanks to Dalton for letting it die on his property. 🤣
