yesss the new spiritbox EP has been on heavy rotation, you gotta check out the opening track “cellar door” it’s a very different vibe than this and it’s probably the heaviest song they’ve put out!a lot more energy and definitely more power in courtney’s voice 🤘🏻
Interesting introduction to this band. "More power in her voice". Oh boy! Don't underestimate the power of Courtney's vocals. This song wonderfully transitions to the next song, "Angel Eyes". You're in for a shock.
I have never heard of them, but I may have to check out more. Not sure I would classify them as metal, but it is lit. I like it. Always love your reactions.
Whoever recommended this one too you was trying to ease you into thd band. They can get heavy. Spiritbox have been in music for a very long time. Josh, the bassist, was previously in As I Lay Dying. Courtney and Mike (guitarist, and he wrote/performed most of the stuff in the recording both previous to starting this band were in a band called Iwrestledabearonce. Courtney was also previously in a band with her brother previous to 2012 (when she joined IWABO) called Unicron. Mike played and wrote a lot of the music for his old te h metal band Fall In Archaea, who were underground favourites in western Canada. I did a lot of shows for FIA and one or two for Unicron way back in like 2008-2013, and Mike is someone I consider a friend.
Courtney (lead singer) is known as "The Queen" of Metal. She has an intense screaming voice. Their song, "Jaded" was nominated for a Grammy (Best Metal Performance) --check it out!
PS The "power" in her voice is unsurpassed in the genre. She is known for her growls/screams but she does songs with all screams, some with half and half, and some with all cleans (like "Too Close/Too Late." ). She is amazing and they are the fastest growing group in Metal--having taken over the Metal genre and have pushed it to new heights.

yeah this is Courtney restrained. A 'pretty' song, showcasing the boys. Girl can go off.
She can get down and dirty with the best of them. In fact the song this one leads in to is not as “elegant”
