Birmingham and London were still predominantly British cities in the 1970s. I used to live in Coventry and visited Birmingham and London frequently. There were areas of Indian/Pakistani and Caribbean immigrants but you rarely if ever saw an African or a Muslim.

Yes, he tried his best at the beginning of this interview to find fault with the sentiment, even though he is surely aware of Rafe. Still, he had to try it on. When he quickly realised he wasn't going to browbeat his guest and would be confronted with hard facts and an intellectual delivery, he crawled back into his cave and made ineffectual clucking noises. He probably thinks people don't notice what he is, or more likely he doesn't care ......... for now.

Some of my generation have been very nieve some complacent but most I believe have been trying to get our views heard for a long time only to be shut down or censored. I'm not left or right wing. i was educated in a system that championed British institutions like parliament, British innovations like the railway, and British arts and culture. I miss my old London, I was born in London in 1954 we were poor but felt safe. We moved to Devon in 1998, have visited a few times but London is know longer a safe place to be. The same people that think this isn't a problem, and that the people who think that are racists, will soon enough be looking around them and realising they're surrounded by people that don't look like them, don't share their culture, and often don't even speak the same language. The Laws we need to enact are:. No foreign ownership of land or houses in the UK. No foreign ownership of UK media. No migration for 5 years. Tax relief on people over 60 who return to work (they'll have to work to fill gaps). Less benefits (they will will have to work). Student loans only for STEM and useful degrees. The countryside will stop resembling what we enjoy now. Our preserved industrial heritage will gradually disappear, preserved railways and museums will start to close as the pool of volunteers get smaller and smaller. Inner City Parks will become dangerous places. The protection than affords buildings will erode allowing a free for all on developments so that the beautiful Victorian, Georgian and Medieval streets will become a mish mash of styles.

My town has had an exponential influx and expansion of Pakistani, Indian, African and people from the Middle East. As an American, I will admit when I first watches this I thought, wow that seems a bit racist. However, there is a point that's valid after I remembered my visit to Norway. I'm not saying they're not progressive but I truly enjoyed seeing and being around their culture that is long standing. That's why I visited there and I think it would have been a bit of a disappointment if it was a no different than anywhere else. Maybe the issue isn't so much the demographics but the preservation of the Britians heritage that should be embraced and respected by those migrating there.

I was born in London just after WW2, my husband was the same. In 2012 after both retiring we decided that we could no longer stay in the City of our birth. We left to live out of London in a community full of people like us, white flight is a real thing.
