    hope you upgraded the oil pump on the 2zz-ge (billet steel gears) they are known to disintegrate at high rpm.

    • @EnginesRMymusic
      @EnginesRMymusic  10 месяцев назад +5

      Good point! I unfortunately have not upgraded the oil pump yet.

    • @PaidInFull1995
      @PaidInFull1995 10 месяцев назад +9

      That statement is false. Its the combination of high rpms paired with high G-force turns that can cause the oil pump to be starved of oil due to the poorly designed baffle-less oil pan. I believe Moroso sells a baffled pan if you're worried or plan to be giving it the beans on track. Upgrade the pump if you're looking to add serious power, you'll be fine with the oem pump if that isn't your goal. I took my 03 Gts all the way to 8400 rpms on a near daily basis multiple times a day with stock pan & pump & it never once skipped a beat. Sold it with 290,000km on the engine but always opted for high quality oils ie amsoil, RP and change intervals of no more than 5000km.

    • @EnginesRMymusic
      @EnginesRMymusic  10 месяцев назад +8

      @@PaidInFull1995 Oil starvation and high rpms are deadly to the oil pump. When there is no resistance the pump gear could disintegrate. A miss shift in to a lower gear while accelerating destroys the pump also but the same goes for the valvetrain and thus for the engine. The JDM spec ecu has a higher rpm limit (8650rpm) My engine has seen the limiter quite a lot and held up fine. I do believe i'm on the limit of what the stock pump can handle. To be save it's not a bad idea to upgrade the pump though. Just adding power to the engine while staying on the same rev limit (for example by supercharging it) does not have impact on the pump. It's high revs that are killing it. I can almost guarantee around 9Krpm or a little above grenades the pump even if there it sufficient oil pressure. A 1zz-fe oil pan has a baffled sump too and with little modification will bolt up to the 2zz-ge engine and are fairly cheap and easy to come by. A Moroso pan is a better choice but it's not cheap. These engines can handle a lot of abuse just make sure its in good condition and change oil very regularly like you said. Also check the oil squirters in the valve cover. If the o ring is bad there is not enough oil being sprayed on the intake cam and it's causing you to lose the lift lobes very fast leaving you with an underpowered engine. I believe quite a lot 2zz-ge engines a driving around like this and owners not even knowing.
