    So guess who just subscribed, thought I would join the party! Thank X Moto for all the kind words! We will be milling heads again, hopefully soon. I don’t want to go into too much detail as to why we stopped besides our Mill going down, but a customer did claim Piston to Valve contact. I actually have the acclaimed head that had contact with a .030 milling, but I do not see any whiteness marks on any Valves and have verified that the head was milled correctly. I believe it was a situation where the customer could not afford what he had previously paid for, but I did have to wait for the head to come in and verify it was not our fault before continuing to Mill.

      no worries, the customer might also had done his valve adjustment wrong, the T mark on the flywheel is not TDC its the timing mark lol, it needs to be set to the F mark for TDC, i did this myself and the valve adjustment were so loose it sure sounded like VTP contact haha! fixed it right away and no issues!

      I have .0393: (1mm) milled from my Hawk head and I am running a Single layer steel gasket, which is roughly another .020" thinner, AND I have a cam with 292 degrees of total duration (no extra lift), and I still don't have any piston to valve contact issues.
      P.S. I might be looking to send a head to you to do some work on as well after seeing his results. I only did a cleanup and blend of the intake and moderate reshaping of the exhaust, but I have a feeling I left a bit on the table, especially with the cam. I still have my original Hawk head in a box not doing anything lol.

    Ok,, Ive watched literally hundreds of youtubes covering just about every subject. Though Ive never searched for an equation and visual process of how to a figure out what your bikes suggested Compression is.. based of some complex equation a bikes manufactures mechanical engineer uses to gaikbkmowlegde of a bikes desired comoression. Who does that!!? You dont know cause most if not everyone doest w/ exceptions to master or excellent mechanics and of course the mad scientist mechanical engineers.
    And apparently this guy!! And yes it’s actually pretty complex equation to wrap whats left of my brain around eso for a wrech twisslin, dirt eatin gas puffer, However, I hit the jackpot finding this video, that comtains excellent simple equation, backed by clear visuals of what’s taking place during each part of gathering the info meeded to compute the final comperssion number. Which most bikes have in their manuel but once a new piston and cylinder plus ported head is then addrd and then you increase to your stroke to create the ultimate rocket 🚀 that you hope to wrangle, that manuels info is gonna be useless.. cause your joe in need of whats your comporeseuoj but also what Cc is the bike now. Your ginna need to fohure all that out before you try throwing on a manifold or carburetor.. otherwise good luck. I guess sikce carberators runnin size incriminates of 2.5’mm but still if youve got this far a simple math problem will be a nothing or your head will explode 🤯
    Enjoy!

      Thanks ive got that a nibbi vm26 and been wanting to get a new head, bore and stroke this engine..
      btw!! From past experiences i dont even like anything abrasive when taking off gaskets. if they stick its beat to use gasket remover spray or something like that, adjust your air intake to get that idke down, but you got it? Sounds great, and deep as fuck!

      @@seanj.mulvaney6367 thanks man! I got it running pretty good now. Check out my most recent video there is a part where I rip it on some backroads and it sounds awesome. Now keep me posted on the bore and stroke if you do it. These engines are already over bored 125cc to 229cc. I'm not sure how much material is left to play with. Some say none but I think it might be possible. It's something I want to try in the future as well.

  • @OddBallPerformance
    @OddBallPerformance 4 года назад +5

    .030" removed from the head equates to about a 0.8:1 increase in compression, which puts you at about 9.8:1, give or take. The only way to know for sure would be to CC the chamber and I could calculate it precisely You could combine it with a TT250 single layer steel head gasket and bump that up another half a point if you desire to.
    Not surprised the 135 was so lean with the amount of material removed on the intake port. I only did some minor reshaping and smoothing to mine as I wanted to keep port velocity up. Your intake port is so large it probably has less pull (vacuum), and thus needs a larger jet.

      Good to know!! Part 2 is uploading as we speak, and I just made an appointment to have the bike on the dyno!! So we will be able to see A/F ratio and the power!!! Also I wanted to ask you what temperature your bike typically runs at? Like the head, cylinder, and crank case temp after riding, I'm trying to decide if I should get an oil cooler, oh and I really want to know what your 0-60 time is on your hawk, and your running a 13-33 sprocket combo correct?

      As for porting the valve seat machining is more important than port volume. Because without a performance valve job off seat flow at say .100 lift flow suffers (due to port velocity). However you did gain at high lift. Witch will go hand in hand with a bigger cam.

    • @OddBallPerformance
      @OddBallPerformance 2 года назад

      @@hotrod7938 The problem with adding valve lift to these engines is the single lobe cam means most cams cause the valves to hit one another during overlap. It requires recessing the valve seats to buy some room for the valves. The cam most of us use don't add any lift just more duration.

      Hey rich! Thanks for following my channel! And I did not have any issues when it came to getting a title and tags for the bike. I had everything done right after Covid hit so lucky for me things were not too busy in Harrisburg. I heard recently Harrisburg has been a little slow with issuing titles for the past 2 weeks but you won't get any hassle. You just provide the MCO of the bike when you go to tag and title it, and you get your tag, and title should be mailed to you in 1-2 weeks if Harrisburg is not all backed up. (MCO comes in the mail 1 week after bike is shipped to you)

Everything else is bone stock. I can pull it up in second (slightly) and reach 73 wot tucked. I guess to each his\her own, but I would only do what ur doing to a nap bike.
