    One of the things my SA (that I’ve been with for 10 years) told me was, that overly persistent ppl are really annoying and acting crazy is not going to get someone any closer to their “dream bag”. I’m very laid-back I go with the flow and I never asked for any of the offers I got…. They literally came out of nowhere and I was of course pleasantly surprised each time. I think it’s really important to remember that your sales associate is doing the best they can for you and they want your experience to be yours alone period they want your relationship with Hermès to be personal and unique. Comparing your journey with somebody else’s journey is frustrating to them and puts unneeded pressure on them….

    I’ve notice several things watching this videos and the comments from the creators and the feedback from their community. Everything related to get a bag from Hermès (birkin, Kelly, Constance) is about a very specific market study that Hermès has developed, specific customers, Sales associates, managers, none of them have the decision in their hands whether is what to do to buy a bag or who, how and to whom to sell a bag. It’s obvious that Hermès decides how much bags are gonna release each maybe season (or year I don’t know the time framing) based on projections about materials that will have on hand, artisans that will be active, financial projections on how much their customers are gonna spend, in order to have the almost exact stock for whats it’s gonna be sold (according to the given projections examples and many others I guess) and they are willing to sell everything in the time they have projected. So, if they over produce, they will have to sell more and their prices are gonna have to go down, if they under produce, they will be obviously earning less money of what they want and knows (because of the projections) they can earn in a certain amount of time.
    So, who decides who is gonna get a purse and which one? Nobody but luck, even though they obviously want the less amount of bags to be available for the reselling market, that’s something they can’t control and I really think is one of their least concerns, but it’s still being important. I think they train their associates to be capable of spot people who is buying legitimately and those who are buying for the resale market, associates will give a purse to every single person that wants one as long as (according to the training) they look/seems/acts or does anything that makes them think it’s not a reseller, if they spot a probably reseller, is the only one that is not gonna get a bag for sure that day.
    Now, you might be thinking why I talked about luck and how is involved among the process, the rest of the buyers who seems to be legitimate ones, are gonna get a purse as long as the bag with the specifications they wants is in the store at the moment they ask for it, that’s why people who is open (they have to had developed some sort of manual with the specific features and how little or how much open to options the customer must be) and if you say the right stuff or closer, you will gonna get offered, that way they’ll assure that you are taking with you a bag that maybe is not the exact one you want, but is close enough for you to get attached enought to it and reject any offer to sell it.
    Regarding rejected customers, in the one hand we have those who are willing to take anything, the problem with being too open to features is that open people who buys; probably will end having a low attachment to the bag and they will be more likely to have it sold if they are offered the right amount of money or even less, that would reinforce the resell market which is something That is not good for Hermès’ business, in the other hand we have the customers that request for very specific features and are relentless to be given something with features slightly different ones, those customers most likely are gonna go home empty handed because the chances of finding all they want are extremely low but if they are lucky enough and the Store has it when they request it, they will be able to buy, the same rules apply, the bigger the attachment to it, the less the possibilities to sell it.
    So, for me, if Hermes works that way or closer, maths and luck are the responsible ones if you were (or not) offered, once you got targeted by your sales associate and got offered, the purchase is in most of the cases a deal closed.

    • @IamGPS
      @IamGPS  4 года назад

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙏🏻 I agree with the fact that luck absolutely plays into how fast you're able to get your hands on your dream bag but there's more to it. They might have the exact bag you're requesting available in store - which is very rare as most bags are immediately assigned to an established client who's been waiting for the bag as soon as they hit the stock room - and your SA might love you but without a proven track record they'll not be able to release a bag to you. An SA is able to request a bag from the gatekeeper of quota bags, the Store Manager / Director but they will not be willing to release a bag unless you've proven yourself to be a loyal client or they are absolutely assured that you'll become one 🍊 It's not an exact science but this is what I learned throughout the years 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@IamGPS the bag is super expensive as it is. Most people have to save up for this bag. As am I. To be a loyal customer u have to have a purchase history which a lot of people don’t have thousands to spend on other items when their main focus is the bag. I don’t get why we can’t be loyal to them by our knowledge and love for the brand.

    I have one great tip. Send your grandmother. When they see very classy older ladies they build a relationship immediately.
    That, if you have zero connections. If you do, then well, you do get sorted sooner or later.
    Personally I don’t mind second hand. But if it was to buy a new one, I would call the two people I know. I don’t think I would spend too much prior to it. I have one bag, few belts and sandals, and a scarf. I don’t want to keep on buying or beg them for a bag. I would feel a bit weird. Thanks for your beautiful Channel!

    Sorry.. I'm completely new to this luxury bag thing and this is probably a stupid question.. But how do you "get" an SA? Do you just walk in on a store and someone might approach you and you start building the relationship from there? I get anxious whenever anyone come up to me in a store asking for what I want, but it seems like that's the only option to get one of these classic bags from the store lol.

    • @IamGPS
      @IamGPS  4 года назад +5

      There's no such thing as a bad question 🙋🏻‍♂️ Yes, it's as simple as walking into the store and exchanging information with the Sales Advisor you think you'd enjoy working with the most. You would then start shopping with them and any time you have an enquiry or something you'd like to pick up, you'd reach out to them directly. If you'd like to get one straight from the boutique it is pretty much the only option..stop by the store one day and see if you can find someone that you feel comfortable talking to and just ask for their business card 🍊

    In my country, you can easily get a Kelly or a Birkin just by being on the waitlist for the bag you want, for the most popular Birkin bag the waitlist can be up to two years but for the most of the time, it is not that long at all. So, everything you are talking about seems so funny to me as this behavior from a retailer would also be illegal in my country and Hermes would be fined and have had to stop the practice if they want to continue to run a company here.

    • @IamGPS
      @IamGPS  4 года назад

      I'm intrigued..so your SA just puts your name down on a list and one day you'll get a call from the store that your Birkin / Kelly is here? No need to maintain any sort of relationship with the brand?

    • @leide4688
      @leide4688 4 года назад +3

      @@IamGPS You can walk into the store and tell them you want to buy a bag or be on the waitlist if the bag is not available. You might not get the exact color as that is more of an issue on what's available. It is, of course, legal to be sold out of a certain color or product. But here you can not get people to spend money in your store just so they are allowed to buy something else. We have the strictest consumer right laws here, probably some of the world's strictest laws. The laws are there to protect consumers from all sorts of things and all retailers have to follow the laws or else they will be heavily fined. It's not a choice for the retailers if they want to follow the laws or not, they have to. Some bags have a longer waitlist than others, so I know some people will get on the waitlist and buy the bag just to sell it after just to make some money on the sale. The person that then bought the bag paid more just to skip the waitlist.

      @@IamGPS very true my friend but I'm genuinely intrigued at what makes people buy them. I have no issue for paying for quality cloths/tailoring/materials but fortunately I'm not foolish enough to pay a over a 1000 percent mark up on a leather bag that costs not even a fraction of that, and then made to feel like they have done me favour by doing that ? Yes no thanks. For hermes they exist as foolish people exist. I tip my hat as they have fooled the masses. It comes down to self confidence and self worth some people feel like they need to be validated by others/companies to exist. There's more serious issues that need to be addressed for people like that. Some designers like Tom ford are actually worth paying for. They invest time/design /materials and then at the end of it you pay them a reasonable mark up and don't feel like they are doing you a favour letting you buy it. The consumer is king and most company's exist due to respecting that. Hermes exists because of people who lack self worth and confidence and would be better suited seeing a psychologist to address deeply entrenched behaviours and issues. Don't mean to be offensive but I don't think I would ever understand the need to feel validated by a company who is literally conning me into paying a ludicrous mark up. Human beings are enticed by what is hard to come by. It's having self control of that aspect and knowing at the end of the day consumer is king and these company's wouldn't exist without them. The emperors new clothes springs to mind mind. Enjoy your bags and I hope you understand my point of view.

He suggested considering a Constance? and I went on with letting him know that I want my first bag to be a Birkin and he replied back that clients usually start off with the Constance bag as their first bag. I wanted to know of your opinion on this? does it sound like my Hermès journey will be a long haul just playing the game? Should I move on with another SA? I would love to know what you think?
