@JamesVSCinema This is the episode where Jimmy McGill fully transformed into Saul Goodman and did his version of Walter White's "I am the Danger" speech from Breaking Bad.
Peter Schuler, the guy in the robe and leader of Madrigal's fast food division, is the guy who killed himself with the defibrillator in BB Season 5 after Gus's empire blew up. That was the only time we'd seen him prior to this episode.
Yup. And what a testament to the level of dedication and artistry of this show: basically 8 years later, after playing that one seen/episode, that actor brings back the character's exact same tone of desperation, and the writer's write it perfectly as if the BB scene had been written the day before. This series will never cease to blow my mind. NEVER.
Lalo was indeed mentioned in Breaking Bad, along with Nacho. When Walt and Jesse took Saul to the desert on the first episode Saul appears, Saul says "it wasn't me it was Ignacio" and "Are you with Lalo?" Crazy to think how those two characters came up from that spare dialogue
I feel like they decided to create the characters once they decided to do a prequel. They wanted to make sure it eventually matched up to Breaking Bad's timeline, so they created the two characters.
I was very excited for him to get to this series and see how amazing Jimmy and Kim are as characters and their relationship. There are so many well made layers this universe.
Jimmy going off on Howard at the end was basically him letting out whatever frustration he still had towards him. It was big and volcanic, but for Jimmy it needed to be done. It’s also interesting seeing him having to defend Lalo in court and seeing the contrast between the two regarding the family of Fred Whalen as well as when the bail is set. Also Nacho and Gus burning down Los Pollos Hermanos together was really cool and sad to see, due to that restaurant basically being another character within this universe. Great reaction James, I hope you’re doing well man. Have a great day and take care!
Your reactions are always great but this series really might be your best. How invested and on-point you are with the characters/story and how much you just enjoy and recognize the humor in it are both awesome man.
And the guy that Gus talks with on the hotel room alongside Lydia, is the guy that worked at Madrigal and shocked himself to death in the last season of Breaking Bad, when Madrigal was starting to fall apart because of their connections to Los Pollos Hermanos.
That guy that was eating the curly fries and also knows about Gus's arrangements. He was the guy in breaking bad that offed himself with the defibrillator when the German Police came looking for him. It was right after Gus gets taken out by Walter.
I feel like that look Gus was giving @ the end of that scene was just him knowing he's saying a bunch of bs to make them feel more secure about the situation. When in the back of his mind he knows shit can hit the fan at any time
Santiago refers to Chile. For a very long time, we’ve known Gus is from Chile which is in South America. For whatever reason, there are no records of him. Probably a deep cleaning of his past took place which might have been because he was a part of the Pinochet regime which assassinated many people. Gus seems quite capable. Both as a killer and a mastermind businessman. He probably got those skills as a high ranking member of Pinochet’s killing squads. All of this is speculation but it kinda fits.
To further add to this, it probably also ties in to why Eladio told Gus the only reason he kept him alive and killed Max was because unlike with the latter, Eladio KNEW who Gus was. A drug kingpin like Eladio probably had the connections and resources to find info on Gus from Chile that many others wouldnt.
Kevin is probably my favorite underrated character in BCS. Even though he owns the bank, he's squeaky clean and has clear defined morals and respects honesty. It's a complete subversion of expectations.
A reaction just in time! I had my food ready and I was looking for what to watch! So excited to see you reach the end. I have so many thoughts for the finale. Also guess what? I saw the Lord of the Rings trilogy (extended edition) in the cinema just now. It was amazing. Reminded me why I love movies so much. I think they were the best cinema experience since seeing Return of The King back in 2004 (it was the first movie I saw on the big screen). But the thing that moved me the most was the fact that the crowd applauded at the end of the third movie. Usually my country isn't fond of applauding in the movie theater, but like we had a whole applause, and I thought to myself ''maaaan, to create art that makes people across the world cry and appalud, decades later....''
The scene where Gus & Nacho go into Pollos Hermanos to burn it down... If I had one wish from a genie's bottle, it would be that I was in the writer's room when they were creating that scene. I don't know if they'd've taken the suggestion, but in the middle of the scene, while Nacho is trashing everything, I would've had Gus give him one of his looks, and Nacho would say to him, "Gotta make it look real." A callback to what Tyrus said to Nacho after shooting him about a season earlier. I really think that woulda been great. Kinda hilarious and in line with Nacho's character...
17:55 It got cut out of the edit but Gus carries a Spyderco Harpy (the knife he uses to cut up the booths) which is the same knife Hannibal uses in Silence of the Lambs in his infamous face-mask escape
"The decision of lingering on a certain frame is very interesting. I love when they do that..." Yup. And also everything you mentioned after that comment pertaining to that. Banks (the actor who plays Ehrmantraut) speaks to that exact thing in one of the commentary bonus features. And he says it was one of the things he loved most about how the creators went about putting this together. For me, it's two things: 1) It shows the creators' respect of their audience. They don't dumb down to us. Ever. They know we can stay in there, are paying close attention to details, and they know we trust them as well. 2) The writers/directors/editors trust & respect their actors and know they're gonna often bring more to scene than what's on the page; and they look for it. And when they find it, they're smart enough to leave it in. God bless this series...
I think Jimmy's expression during the wedding was that of guilt. As much of a manipulator as he is, he feels bad for the bad things he does to people he cares about. Kim being the one true person be loves, but knows he's bad for, it breaks him silently in that moment. He knows he's going to keep hurting her. Imo.
I think the look Gus gives to the champagne is him thinking about how he might be able to kill the cartel members with the poisoned drinks in Breaking Bad. Am I wrong?
12:54 he wasn’t seen in breaking bad but he was actually mentioned a throwaway line during his meeting with Walter White and Jesse. Same with Nacho believe it or not.
Speaking Giancarlo Esposito, you should watch Homicide: Life On Street now that it's on Peacock. I think it would would awesome to see you react to the acting, cinematography, and writing. It was a criminally underrated drama.
Saul is a bit unhinged. And here we go. Cannot wait for the next episode. This show always somehow follows up a great episode with an even greater one. At least in these last two seasons.
My dream spinoff, Holly grows up to be just like walter. Walt junior becomes a Dea agent in uncle hanks memory. Holly goes to find Jessie to learn to cook like walt, but at the same time, Brock is looking for him to kill him for getting his mother killed.
I only found out that the kid who played Fred (The kid Lalo killed at the Travel store) is the same guy on Saturday Night Live who does the newest impersonations of Trump.;
When you said you wanted to see a spin-off of Gus when he was younger reminded me that I really want a spin-off with Lalo. He could escape prison and flee the US and go to Europe and start a Salamanca cartel in Czech Republic or something (Lydia offered Walter business in Czech Republic in BB). Lalo character is as charismatic as Saul Goodman, it would be epic!
Jimmy..you gotta CHILL!

@@coryrudy98 thats literally what happened I think Bob Odenkirk improvved the line and then vince and the rest of the writers made them in BCS
Tuco also mentions Nacho in BB
“Lightning bolts shoot from my fingertips” is better call sauls version of “I am the one who knocks”
Hahaha I see it!
A phrase that is badass out of context but shows the speaker to be a truly pathetic man with the full context, I agree.
I agree. It's a cool quote out of context, but shows just how pathetic/out of their depth the speaker is in context.
@@weirdguy1495They both even have a moment after they're done when they look embarrassed after speaking.
More like Dennis and "I am the Golden God!!!" 😂
I've seen this before but just noticed the company sign for "Luftwaffle" 🤣🤣
That's f'ing hilarious. Nice catch.
Not Howard catching male pattern baldness strays 🤣
When you started this show did you ever think the focal point of the narrative would revolve around a tragic yet passionate romance?
I was very excited for him to get to this series and see how amazing Jimmy and Kim are as characters and their relationship. There are so many well made layers this universe.
Extremely surprised, but I peeped diamonds with Breaking Bad’s writing when it came to relationships!
Seriously tho, Jimmy, Chuck, and Howard's threeway romance is one of, if not the most tragic romance I've ever seen on TV.😔
7:29 I like how the credits swap to Tony Dalton after Nacho's "who do you think", just caught that
James calling Huell "Big Black" will never get old🤣
The monologue at the end is in my top 3 scenes

Happy my feelings are translated! Truly love this series, genuinely inspiring and great to experience
21:51 Jimmy sounding like Dennis from It’s Always Sunny, that was my first thought 😂
And the guy that Gus talks with on the hotel room alongside Lydia, is the guy that worked at Madrigal and shocked himself to death in the last season of Breaking Bad, when Madrigal was starting to fall apart because of their connections to Los Pollos Hermanos.
Wasn't he the CEO of Madrigal or at least a top executive there? I always thought he was the one running the company.
@@toreadoress I actually don't remember hahaha
But yeah, he probably was
@@toreadoress He wasnt the one running all of Madrigal, just its food/restaurants branch
That guy that was eating the curly fries and also knows about Gus's arrangements. He was the guy in breaking bad that offed himself with the defibrillator when the German Police came looking for him. It was right after Gus gets taken out by Walter.
"Cause it's too small!"
That's what she said!

He's a douchebag though.
Despite that, his biggest flaw is his ego and emotional investment, which Jimmy uses to play him like a fiddle
Agreed. And it helps that Rex Linn is a wonderful character actor. I don't think he could play an unlikeable character if he tried.
A reaction just in time! I had my food ready and I was looking for what to watch! So excited to see you reach the end. I have so many thoughts for the finale.

it’s so crazy how quickly howard went from a hateable character to being one of the few genuine good people in the breaking bad universe
still get bummed out how he went out
13:28 Just noticed one of the businesses is called “Luftwaffle.” That’s wild lol
I heard they taste the bomb 🤣
I've got to use that word in the future
Awesome reaction of my favorite Better Call Saul episode!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
Happy to hear!!
of corse everyone fell in love with Howwy
One of my favorite visuals in this episode is the rotting ceiling tiles above Jimmy. A representation of his corruption slowly coming in.
Imo.
I love how Howard practically ignores Jimmy when he goes in his rant. It's clear everything Jimmy was saying was all for himself.
YESSSS MY PERSONAL PICK FOR THE BEST BCS EPISODE WE ARE HEREE
as soon as the camera started to pan up to Gus' face I knew you were gonna laugh 😆, great reaction as always!
Glad you enjoyed!!
Love how Gus still checked to see if the fryers at the Las Lunas location are also clean before blowing it up 😂
Peak is coming
If they do a prequel about Gus they should get the guy who played the young version of him on The Boys Season 3
That ending was so surreal to me that I wasn't sure it was actually happening when it was happening! I almost thought it was a fantasy lol.
u cracking up the second gus is on screen is killing me
This has got to be the episode that gives Saul his life sentence tbh
0:01 Anytime I see this scene I can only hear "Windmill Chicanery". That gets stuck in my head constantly.
I always saw the scene with Jimmy staring down the hall and there is the reflection of his face as Jimmy/Saul like two face lol
I think the look Gus gives to the champagne is him thinking about how he might be able to kill the cartel members with the poisoned drinks in Breaking Bad. Am I wrong?
Just make money. The motto of Saul. Fits perfectly. So what's Jimmy's motto???
Love the reactions James. Thank you.
Honestly I think Jimmy’s motto is “S’all good, man”. That’s how he buries all his feelings on things
James what brand is that shirt you’re wearing? It looks sick
12:54 he wasn’t seen in breaking bad but he was actually mentioned a throwaway line during his meeting with Walter White and Jesse. Same with Nacho believe it or not.

Howard is definitely one of my favorite parts of this show. And so is Lalo
Saul is a bit unhinged.

My dream spinoff, Holly grows up to be just like walter. Walt junior becomes a Dea agent in uncle hanks memory. Holly goes to find Jessie to learn to cook like walt, but at the same time, Brock is looking for him to kill him for getting his mother killed.
I only found out that the kid who played Fred (The kid Lalo killed at the Travel store) is the same guy on Saturday Night Live who does the newest impersonations of Trump.;
Next episodes the best
Jimmy's new goal: lash out at Howard as much as possible
You want a backstory, it should be Mike’s next.
I'd love to listen to Mike do an audio book of Shakespeare or something.
Gus and Kingpin are actually in another show together called The Godfather of Harlem..😂
When you said you wanted to see a spin-off of Gus when he was younger reminded me that I really want a spin-off with Lalo. Last 3 episodes of this season gonna change ur life
We hope you enjoy the reactions!😊
Wow almost met Lalo.....almost
Darth Goodman has arrived
Your anxiety is making me laugh.
Howard is so handsome I feel like you really you love Kim
James, when will you watch "All Quiet On The Western Front"?
"Luftwaffle"?! WTF?! 😅
If Kingpin and Gus teamed up, they could run the MCU.
❤
Jesus loves u james
Do you think Jimmy's popping off at Howard at the end was sincere?
