The reflective blanket was a metaphor for Chuck, and how he used to wear it. That's why Jimmy didn't want to use it when they were sleeping
The look he gave to Mike when he put it on to sleep always cracks me up
The final shot of Jimmy stepping on it too gets me. This is (I think?) the first time (maybe even only) time Jimmy directly sets out and succeeds in ending somebody’s life. And after that he literally steps on Chuck’s memory
How did I miss that reference. Amazing
You a nerd lol
I’m really surprised he didn’t catch that
When the twins were loading the bags with cash it was Marco who accidentally dropped one of the stacks. He would later make the same mistake dropping the bullet from his coat that Hank would use to kill him.
Holy shit. I always assumed that was just a bad take they decided to leave in for realism, considering how they always make a point to show how synchronised they are. That's crazy
Vince and Peter are actually demonic when it comes to attention to detail, wow
yooooo
"Jimmy you are an attorney... not a bagman"
roll credits.
Then Jimmy immediately called up Howard, apologized for his behaviour, accepted the job at HHM, and went into therapy to deal with his unresolved feelings about Chuck's death.
Jimmy, the chattiest character in the Breaking Bad universe, meets the Twins , the least chatty characters
I prefer the term “loquacious”
It‘s crazy how we know that Jimmy and Mike survive this whole thing because they are in Breaking Bad but it‘s still super tense.
I think its because the main thing keeping us invested in jimmy's story is HOW he became who he is in breaking bad, not necessarily what happens to him. same can be said about mike. The focus of this episode is mainly on the trauma jimmy experiences during this whole ordeal, it makes us think about how that trauma effects jimmys mental state and what it might make him do in the future, rather than wether or not hell survive.
It was a difficult situation, but in the course of my life I have survived through much more severe conditions and frequently. You can somewhat admire those two, but the fact of the matter is: I am going to be a survivor until the day that I die. Take that to the bank.
I didn't notice it on my first watch, but I'm pretty sure Jimmy turns down the space blanket from Mike because it reminds him of Chuck
22:47 as Nacho said a few episodes ago, “when you’re in, urine”
One of my favorite episodes of the entire show
FYI, Eminem sampled the song played in the episode obviously, but the original song titled "I Got The..." is excellent.
Yeah I was going to say its Labi Saffre/ He has a bunch of great tunes, love his "Something Inside So Strong" and he also wrote It Must Be Love which was a hit for the UK band Madness
ruclips.net/video/xKISdd2mKzU/видео.html
Yessss! It's a total banger he sampled from
You know those type of episodes where you can only say "Wow" once it ends because of how good it was? This is a primary example.
The anticipation I've had the past few days waiting for this one. It can't be measured.
And yet somehow there are numerous episodes yet to come that are just as good and at least one that's better.
I’m just as excited for what’s coming next. This episode is a great call back to BB but the next one is in a league of its own.
In my world, James finished Saul Gone a long time ago. Patreon club!
Funny you mention rattlesnakes at the start - filming on location - in To’Hajiilee - in such a punishing heat drew a large number of rattlesnakes to the area - crew members were hired solely to spot them and keep them from attacking. Vince complained a lot about the brutal weather he had to direct in, but he also made life a lot harder for Odenkirk by actually filling the bags with a similar weight and making him carry them throughout. An absolute sadist. And Mike shouldn't have told Jimmy to drink his piss, that actually dehydrates you due to the minerals, salts and liver-filtered toxins in it. Also, I know this episode was influenced by Lawrence of Arabia, but with BB/BCS being a mirror of The Sopranos, it wouldn't surprise me if this was also a love letter to the "Pine Barrens" episode.
Mike was a sniper in Vietnam.
Mike this is law not 'nam, there are rules!
Mike, you are a soldier, not a bagman
RIP, James Earl Jones, The voice Of Darth Vader and Mufasa passed away yesterday at 93.
I ate an uncooked steak at a grocery store yesterday. Directly out of the packaging... the other costumers were quite disturbed.
@@chrisakaschulbus4903that’s crazy
This is the moment Jimmy becomes a Bagman. Real talk
I have to say that it's really encouraging to me to hear you talking about Kim like you do. These were the EXACT conversations I was having with myself when I was watching this show every week as it happened! My biggest issue was my extreme worry over Kim! Couldn't hardly take it!
The report of the rifle arrives after the bullet
Ayyyeee James with the sponsorships!!!
Cheers!!
Yeah and its a solid one we as film lovers can get behind
Jimmy wouldn't wear the space blanket because it reminded him of Chuck .
Another critical turning point for Jimmy and one of the best episodes in the entire series…
12:15 even the soundtrack was like "wow that was a nice shot"
This homestretch of season 5 was definitely Emmy worthy.
the scene where the show mike taking the gas cap is the reason this show is so so good its such a small detail to explain how mike found jimmy but not only is it a pay off for past scenes but just show how the show runners dont overlook anything
That's the song they sampled for Hi my name is
Mike does not lose his cool under pressure. And as perceptive as he is, that is an even bigger strength.
Literally ur videos are the highlight of my week im so hyped for you to get to the last season
We hope you enjoy the reactions! 😊
Lets goooo. James got the bag for the episode Bagman 😂, probably a top 3 if not top 5 Breaking Bad verse episode of all time
I always love how Mike sniped out the jeep tires to drop the frame of the entire car so he could pop the guy through the windshield.
Also little fun fact: Marine Snipers train out to further distances than Army Snipers do, so it's entirely realistic for Mike to make those shots. He even took an elevated position with the sun to his back, absolutely textbook position for a sniper.
"Labi Siffre's 1975 track "I Got The..."
Is the "eminem" song. Its the og song em and dre sampled for " Hi my name is"
Been waiting for this one! I love the Mike and Jimmy dynamic, too. They clearly can’t stand each other’s personalities, but they recognize each other’s talent enough to show more respect than they show most other characters.
The space blanket was such a nice touch for me. when we see the silver blanket just blow off the screen. to me that was Chuck's SPIRIT. He kind of saved Jimmy. that's how I like to think of it anyway
From what I understand, they actually used the same cameras and lenses that was used in the film Lawrence of Arabia to get similar results and affects from the desert shots. The equipment had to be borrowed.
Brother, everytime I watch these reactions I think......"He has....NO idea." and I can't wait to see your reactions. Gonna be epic. This was the only show, including BrBa, that ever made me actually drop my jaw and sit in silence.....and that wasn't even the finale'.
The first time I saw this episode when Mike said those lines to Jimmy/Saul about why he's doing all this. I was like "Damn it Walter."
When you mentioned that the desert equals everything, it's really cool how this episode contrasts Jimmy/Saul's demeanor to the end of the last episode.
Another banger !
That “Eminem type beat” was the old school soul song “I got the…” by Labi Siffre. It was the main sample used in Eminem’s song.
You were so right, Mike kept going because he wanted more for his family, but in the end they were left with nothing but fear, sorrow and shame. I'm sure if Mike knew this is how it ended, he would've done something else completely. Or maybe not... Because mike is who he is at heart.
One of my fav episodes of BCS.
This is one of those episodes that’s so intense it’s great. Also seeing Jimmy and Mike together like this is amazing. The two have a connection that’s like no other and while Mike isn’t too fond of Saul in Breaking Bad, he seems to not mind Jimmy. Jimmy does annoy Mike, but Jimmy at least is a good person deep down, he’s just made bad decisions here and there, while Saul is basically all in on the money in Breaking Bad.
remember love death and robots desert episode 😂
The twins are out there man... oh its Mike! One of the best thing BB did was to cast Johnathan Banks as Sauls go to guy Mike!
Jimmy cleaning his shoes at the start with his Davis & Main water bottle.
Just as well he didn't need that water later on...
Fantastic episode
Also, from Lalo: "You're Nobody."
One wonders if someone took inspiration from that line and named a movie after that...
Not only did Hank kill the twins but he did it with their own gun and even their own bullet
I don't get why they had to walk. Mike followed him there. Did he not drive
Yup. An episode for the ages.
The scene of Saul grabbing the dollar from the cactus and not poking himself, then kicking it immediately after is the most perfect capsule of Jimmy and the series as a whole.
It's official: James has a sponsor🎉
I remember feeling like this episode was written like a GTA mission
Despite being a show of various blends of intense drama, character study, and dark humor, Breaking Bad universes is a Western genre at heart. Having two of the lead characters travel through the desert, facing obstacles and hardship, reflects those themes of the human journey, a discovery of truth, and, in many ways, a pathway to redemption.
If anyone hasnt checked out Ological, his BCS episode analysis are legendary.
I'm glad you clocked on instantly to how bad Kim fucked up by talking to Lalo.
How did i miss this reaction. The new one is already episode 9. Got some catching up to do.
Bros in his sponsor bag let’s goooo
20:15 This will be me if I get to live as old as Mike.
It also reminds me of Walt driving his charger, then breaking down from the bullet holes in the gas tank in Ozymandias. Rolling that one barrel of money through the desert.
Ancient symbolism of the desert being where you lose your ego -- your self turns to sand and the process is endless.
haha definitely stay hydrated
I dont know if you noticed, but in the first scene with the twins going in that car warehouse, you can spot the custom “Grand Theft Auto Banche” Dodge Viper.
Now that J.E.J passed away, you should react to 1970's The Great White Hope
Both shows needed their "two leads stuck in the middle of the desert" episodes. Great way to build character.
Urine from Davis and Main... the Irony is bitter...
"that's the price" I think meant a lot more to Saul/Jimmy deep down, than what was going on. Also, the twins are even scarier with plot armor.
That "wait" at the beginning was a jump-scare
I love drinking water while watching this episode. Seeing Jimmy waste water to clean dirt off his shoes hits different after you see the entire episode.
When GTA5 came out Rockstar Games gave away a real life Banshee car in a contest. That car is one of the ones the cousins walk by when picking up the money.
The wild ride is not going to stop anytime soon!
We hope you enjoy the reactions 😊
That is not a 'wad of cash', that was 'stacks of bills', bro.
Only issue i have w this ep, is how did mike get there, didnt he have a car or could call for back up?
I’m not kidding, I watch the ending scene literally everyday. The tense music, Jimmy cursing the driver under his breath, the fact that he was the one to come up with this plan, the fact that Mike missed the first shot and takes a deep breath, and everything else. It all comes together to make, IMO, the most bad-ass scene in the whole show, one that can rival Gus’s death
Every day is a bit kookoo
@@_cookson ok, maybe not everyday but a lot of
When this ends I'm gonna have to find something else to do with my lunchtimeson Tuesday. Should probably buy this man lunch for the number of times he's kept me company while I grub on break over the last year or so.
Probably the best episode of the whole series though saying that I probably should do a rewatch of the whole show just to be sure.
Oh I do think it's good but my personal favourites are five-o, Breathe, Rock and Hard Place and Point and Shoot
kinda sucks that the "I Got The" beat is known for Eminem 😭😭 it's a song by Labi Siffre! Kanye also sampled his music
When it comes to works of fiction. The BB/BCS universe is way better than the Bible
Old Man and The Sea, Ernest Hemingway
Not a biblical reference but a similar story.
Seeing all we do of Mike's character in BCS it definitely makes us all hate what Walter did to him more for sure.
To be fair to both Mike and Walter... They were in the game. So well... what happened happened. It just sucks that Mike was finally trying to get out and wasn't going to screw over Walt or Jesse and Walt out of desperation or fear of losing his power killed Mike anyway.
This episode is when the show finally surpassed Breaking Bad for me, from here onwards is some of the best television ever.
We hope you enjoy the reactions 😊
An incredible shot to an incredible episode..!

what are you doing here?
What's with the show title on the screen? Wtf?
Subverting copyright
In the UK if we are describing something with the same properties you ascribed to the desert we would call it 'the great leveller'; it doesn't matter who you are, it will bring every one down to the same level. Not sure if that phrase is used in the US though. @jamesvscinema
That’s an awesome term honestly. Thanks for sharing!
