    Conversion to Orthodox Judaism requires education and practice. Individuals must learn the Torah and Jewish laws and live as Jews, observing Shabbat and Jewish holidays, and eating kosher food. They should also be guided by a rabbi and participate in a Jewish community. Men must be circumcised. T
    he conversion process can take time, depending on the individual's progress and the strictness of the rabbinical court. Patience, sacrifices, and dedication are crucial. Converts should have a love for Judaism and the Jewish people and be prepared to follow Jewish practices.

    From the time that I was around 8 years old, I wanted to be a Jew, even though I was raised as a Catholic. I pursued my journey home by attempting an Orthodox conversion when I was in my 20's. I lived inside the eruv and I studied with a very respected Rabbi from my community. I was approved to go in front of the orthodox Beit Din. Ultimately, I felt very intimidated by a few of the Rabbis and I walked away after that meeting. I walked away being upset with them and Hashem. I was very young and very confused. During the next two decades, I became more humble, and my interest in Judaism never wavered. A few years ago I happened to get a position as the Assistant to the Senior Rabbi of a large reformed congregation. Ultimately, I ended up completing a Reform conversion. Almost immediately, I felt that this wasn't enough, and the idea of an Orthodox conversion came up in my heart once again. Currently, I am preparing to make Aliyah in the near future. I have thought that perhaps, I should wait and complete my Orthodox conversion in Israel. My question for you is what do you think is better: to convert in the States or in Israel? This has truly been a lifelong journey, and each step has been precious to me. I am grateful for all of my experiences. I look forward to your response.

      The State of Israel will accept a conversion to Reform Judaism if you were active for at least a full year after the conversion was finalized. Contact Nefesh B’Nefesh and the Jewish Agency for Israel for help making Aliyah.

      As Christo noted you can make aliyah with a reform US conversion. It is odd but they allow it because the Reform have a lot of money. I suggest doing the conversion in Israel. Unless you are involved in government work or a rabbi there is no reason for a religious Jew to be in a country as sick and destructive as the US (in my opinion). The Torah does not encourgae Jews to live in wicked nations nor does it ever encourage living in North America. Also it will be cheaper in Israel and I find Israel more welcoming personally

      @@christo-chaney Reform conversion is only useful to immigrate to Israel, but the person is not at all recognized as halachically Jewish. Melanie is clearly interested in completing an orthodox conversion and that tends to be a more difficult process in Israel. Not that it's ever easy.

    Dear Rabbi,
    at long last someone is giving some good advise to people who wish to convert. There are some people on line who got it all wrong. Some people did convert and are NOT observing Torah Laws because they coverted for ulterior motives. They have no idea of what is like to be a Jew during periods like the Holocaust, like we did.
    Some of them discovered the truth about Torah but are not ready to accept any difficulties. Thank you again for opening the eyes of people who wish to convert.

    I have been wanting to convert since 2011 I started classes in March 2023. I recentley found out about difference in beliefs of theology between Reform, Conservative & Orthodox. This wasn't brought up in class as a subject, once I found out especially concerning Moshe and Torah I had been given an Orthodox Rabbis email to see if I can take classes for Orthodox. I filled out the application and waiting to hear back. I never thought of Orthodox when I knew I wanted to convert, I now can't see how I can convert to the other branches with a different theology than what I believed even before I started the classes. At this point I'm taking an unexpected opportunity just because I have to see where it goes for me. After I started the conversion classes in March I took a 23&Me and I have Ashkenazi Polish dna maybe it's all is for a reason, and if Orthodox is where I am suppose to be I will find out. ✡

    Most people don't know that you do not have to convert to be part of the Jewish tribe. Just lay yourself on an imaginary altar, giving your body and mind over to the Creator of heaven and earth, as in the last two phrases of the Adon Olam prayer (*) and (thereby) giving up idolatry, you will automatically become a child of G'd and you will automatically be enlisted and inscribed as part of G'ds people.
    Don't listen to people who tell you to 'convert'. (As conversion means becoming someone you are not.) The G'd of Israel does not want you to change. He wants you as you are.
    (*) "beyado afqid ruchi" - In His hands I trust / command my spirit (so that my inspiration will become G'ds inspiration) "we-im ruchi djewiyothi" - and with this inspiration [I also command] my body. (To be used in Your honor.)

    Dear Rabbi, thank you for this lecture. I have a quick question- if someone admires a part of a different religion or ideology BECAUSE it reminds them of something the Torah says, is that wrong? Is it wrong to respect and find common ground with those of different beliefs, even if the individual is still steadfast and forever dedicated to Hashem and Torah only?

    • @YaronReuvenRabbi
      @YaronReuvenRabbi  4 года назад +21

      The gemara in tractate Avodah Zarah says that Rebbi Eliezer ben Horkenus nearly recieved a heavenly death penalty for admiring the words of an idolator who said something that does not contradict the Torah, so from there we learn that its important to stay away from other religions as their lies are decievingly clever, and their truth are simply things they copied from the Torah, so why not look into your own Torah instead of their version of the picking and choosing what to keep.

    The circumcision issue is exactly why Christianity spread so rapidly, they dispensed with it altogether. Jews certainly could have been more popular if they had decided to be more expedient about their beliefs. They couldn’t do it because a nation unlike a religion has standards everyone must follow or the people who are a part of it have nothing in common. This stringency is responsible for antisemitism. Jews aren’t always welcomed or understood when they stand out from others. Its human nature to want to be liked, popular and accepted. That isn’t always good and its especially relevant in being true to ourself as well to G-d. Nations are accountable and that’s the reason the Jewish nation is still around today. In short, there are many reasons to be a Jew but the first and foremost about it is an identity that’s permanent, always a part of a Jew and the Jew is part of an eternal covenant with heaven. Where a Jew is born or a person becomes a Jew by virtue of conversion, one overriding fact is freely acknowledged:this covenant was the result of the free will of an entire people and G-d didn’t force it upon them. Indeed, the Jew is the proof, when anyone asks, of G-d and why after thousands of years, they still serve and follow Him.

      you want to blame the jews for antisemitism? what a crooked and knieving idiot you are! Circumcision is the problem? what with miliard of muslims who are also circumsized - why they are not persecuted? and why even they persecuted jews? i will tell you why! because they cristians muslems and pagans know deep in their heart that their beliefs are not from God - all of them cannot admit that their belifs system are a very bad corrupted imitations of the only original truth religion! that is the reason they tried over millinia to humilate, murder, robe and rape the jews!
