  • Lexus GS300 0-100kmh 2JZ Power On A Budget
    On this episode of Zero To 60 we had the chance to take one of our friends 2JZ powered Japanese luxury Lexus GS300 for a drive and see how the old girl has aged in the performance standing.
    For a motor know to have such amazing performance potential it was really impressive how smooth and torquey the 2JZ is in this application.
    Here's link to the turbo kit if you do want to check it out:

    On the gs300s gearbox you can change how aggressive the shifts are. I’ve changed the shifts towards the most aggressive setting and I’ve hit 7 flat on a 0-100 run 👍

    Even for wet weather that's really slow. Gearbox must really let that car down. Must have terrible tyres too.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 года назад +1

      Haha, it may seem that way, but normally with 2 people in the car, most stock vehicles we test are about a second off what the factory claim. This thing with only 225hp (when new) would have really been suffering from the weight on board. When we measure with no roll out in a real world conditions, most cars are much slower than people realise. But we did loose a lot of time not being able to launch this due to the wet. Point being, in reality we thought it was pretty good.

    • @MickiDracing
      @MickiDracing 4 года назад +2

      @@ZeroTo60Tube Fair enough, I never thought about your times being a bit slower because there are two of you in there. One of you should have sat in the back for more traction 😆

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 года назад

      I’d say you’re on the money there. At a massive guess a stock auto one would be mid to high 5s with 2 people in the car. If you can get traction. 🙏. The 2jz-gte are monsters when they are tuned but the aggressive nature of a tuned one can make them tricky to hook up of the line.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 года назад +1

      @@MrMalakalopoulos well on a non prepped surface, like a road, it will be much easier to get the auto off the line on boost. The manual would be a struggle between bogging down and lighting the rears up. As soon as you get something with.a bit of power, that clutch pedal is a bit of a nightmare. WHich is why most drag cars are auto.

      @@ZeroTo60Tube You mean the Autobahn? :D Your vids with 0-100 kph are mostly irrelevant bc you never get the times right bc of slow shifting, bad tarmac, bad car or whatever so why even bother. If you watch most youtube channels and online communities it's all about 100-200 kph to measure acceleration and how capable a car is, much less factors that give a false performance figures. :D

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 года назад

      @@JerainJezza I agree 100-200 is a more accurate way to measure the performance. It removes variables like traction. Where i dont agree with you is. Not many people do 100-200 except for when they are testing. Apart from having a boasting contest with your mates in the pub, what is the point? You may as well just get a dyno sheet..... You might have a 600hp car doing a 5-6 second 100-200 but some kid in a focus is going to take you in a real world race because you can't put that power down. 100s more people will race from the set of lights on a daily basis than race between 100 and 200kmh....... and you know this.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 года назад +1

      Think about how long it would take a car with 220hp to accelerate from 100-200kmh. Your comment about it being more relevant, especially on this GS300 is just bizarre, haha. No one in a Lexus GS300 is doing 100-200 runs as a form of measuring performance. Our channel's Zeroto60 vids are about real world acceleration times, with average cars, average tyres and average surfaces. Real world conditions which is what people in the real world drive their cars in. I don't mean to come across rude btw, we love the support, but you seem to see things from a strange point of view.
