Maybe not on a track, but I've actually done this on trails! Just this past weekend I went back and forth with a few mountain bikers on a longer tempo section of my trail run where I could pass them on the uphills, and they would pass me on the downhills. Running can legitimately be faster on steep uphills and technical sections with rough terrain or sharp turns.
Its how betting works. Notice how he made them change who bets first for each split. The last person to pick a time has the advantage because they dont need to guess perfectly they just pick one lower or one higher then the other players and they get a win for a large section of time. Say you pick 40 and another picks 41 and I should pick either 39 winning any time slower than 40 or 43 winning any time higher than 41.
They're really nice bikes, but they're honestly really overpriced. Unless you can drop like $8000 on the top end, you won't get good components. I'd really suggest looking at other brands, especially some of the direct to consumer brands like Canyon, Vitus, Diamondback, Commencal, Nukeproof, etc. I've ridden quite a few of those, and they're incredible! And you pretty much always get higher end components for the same price as a comparable SC bike.
track cyclist 🙋♂️ in pursuits sometimes riders drift out right to help them get a better turn going into the bend. So: don’t necessarily need to work on tighter turns. Whatever works best for ya. Fun video to watch, nice one Bison 💪
Hey Nick I have no idea if you saw my RUclips comment about tag but thanks for making the video either way. Recently someone on /r/BMX averaged over 15 for 7 miles or something on a 20 inch wheel bike with small cranks. I did just over 4 for a mile on a big wheel but it's on the hilly route I train mile run repeats on.
You should try a 4 minute mile on a fat tire bike with an aggressive 4.5 inch knobby tire with under 10 psi . I averaged 100 miles a week this winter with this set up on my Trek Farley. A 4 minute mile is tough even on good roads, not to mention snow, wind , and cold.
I can't quite tell if he locked the suspension out, but it definitely would have helped reduce power loss, especially when out of the saddle. Possibly could have the saddle a few mm higher to get the most power out of the legs. But I don't want to be one of those people who nit pick everything, so otherwise great lol.
Awesome sub 4 on the the Bike 👍 Im an older 55 year amateur runner with a mile pb of 6:32 Great idea for the mile challenge Im going to give it a go Only chance ill ever get go sub 4 on the track 😂😂
Definitely faster to be riding on the outer lanes. The centripetal acceleration needed stay on the curve increases quadratically with velocity, so a 3 min mile makes a much bigger difference from a 4 min mile than people think. It's also much harder to accelerate radially on a bike since bikes are designed to move straight.
@@rowanbaxter5362 I should've been clearer. I meant it'd be faster if he started on the outer lane, not if he shifted to it. Turning on a bike is definitely harder than on foot. It could make a difference of a couple of seconds.
Love to see you compete in a Hyrox event! It's a short distance run heavy endurance event that doesn't require any heavy lifting. Basically an hour and a half workout competition.
you realize that you're tearing up the track riding those bikes and rollerblades on the track? The Dean of my school athletic department would flip out when she saw people riding bikes and stuff on the track.
I never broke 5 while running (my last mile was a 5:00.1, very frustrating) but I did do a mountain bike time trial of 3:42. I have a feeling that both Hicham El Guerrouj and Noah Ngeny would have still beat me.
@@BreakingJJC in theory, that split should have translated to a sub 5 mile, but for some reason when I ran the mile I never ran my own race, so I'd do the first 1.5 laps with the 4:25 crowd, and then inevitably would lose all my strength and the last 2.5 laps would be a plodding hell. When I did the 1200 leg of the medley I was able to run my own race and got a good time.
edit: changed 300 to 200 lol 2:44 Guys how did you expect Nick to bike faster each lap on the other 3 laps than on the 1st lap??? Like I could have easily won $200 by guessing 50 second intervals even between each lap come on now
