      This guy is giving free drum lessons. Usually, online you could pay 20 up to 70$ for a half hour. While his lessons are under 15mins usually they get right to the core exercises to improve a drummer's ability. While it's not one-on-one there are plenty of free online videos of drummers teaching techniques, rudiments, etc... I was lucky enough to play in my middle school/high school, and college drum lines. Which taught me one of the most valuable lessons of all... reading sheet music. I love how he goes straight for the blast beats lol.

    Wanja is my favorite dbl bass drum player. Seriously he has the BEST dbl bass technique out there at least for constant 16th note playing. The fastest and the best. Using a dbl pedal and acoustic bass drum his technique is unrivaled.
    Hands down the best

    Thanks Wanja. I think this kind of "dependence" unison playing is what makes it sort of counterintuitive to folks who are new to playing in this style. Most of us spend years developing independence, vs. the coordinated dependence these exercises help strengthen. These are good, practical exercises for sure. Good stuff! Thanks you sir.

    Nechtan, you are amazing! I like your stuff and Im far from a metal expert. Im more fusion, rock or country but play a lot of exercise rudiments to stay loose and grow... I am enamored by your feet and hands, but the hand movements are interesting. Maybe can you teach a video on that motion? It looks like a nice flowing grip,snap, wrist roll, but what do you call it>? thanks man.

      For exercises 5.1 and 5.2, are you playing 16th notes with one hand, right?

    • @wanjanechtangroeger
      @wanjanechtangroeger  8 лет назад

      No, I play 8th notes with my hand. It is the very same as exercise 5, I just leave away one of my hands.

    • @Timotolas
      @Timotolas 8 лет назад

      +MorganvanHelsing got it!, so 5.1 and 5.2 are similar to Blast Beat 1 and BB2, the only difference is the feats at sixteenth notes on 5.1/5.2 instead of octaves in BB1/2, right?

    I've just started drumming and your videos are helping me a lot.. For a beginner like myself I think it is too expensive to use fancy double pedals. can you suggest me a cheaper one just for practice purpose.. so that I won't ruin expensive pedals? thanks a lot

    • @wanjanechtangroeger
      @wanjanechtangroeger  8 лет назад

      For beginner purposes you can buy basically any cheap pedal. I started with a DW 2000 and I was able to go up to 190-200 bpm before I changed to a more expensive model.

    I find it easyer to do these type of exercises with regular single stroke on the feet and when i m reaching the point where the speed is chalenging i would swich to alternated singles with heel toe, do you think wanja that that is the way yo do it or you play with this alternated heel toe even when you are at realy slow speeds? Excelent video, incredibly precise

    • @wanjanechtangroeger
      @wanjanechtangroeger  8 лет назад

      Thanks! Normally I use "normal" full leg motion up to 140-150bpm and then switch to the other technique. But when I started doing this kind of exercises I had to start really slow (100bpm) and to get used to the motion I did this exercise even at this slow tempo with "my" technique.

    • @wanjanechtangroeger
      @wanjanechtangroeger  8 лет назад

      Not really. It just feels more comfortable with shoes for me than without shoes. And if you wear shoes just choose some that are not too heavy or thick and don't hinder your movements.

    • @trustJawa
      @trustJawa 8 лет назад

      Ok :) Just when I practice it, so has my foot tendency to play double strokes. Do you know why ? Thanks :)

  • @pessoalsuprema4494
    @pessoalsuprema4494 5 лет назад

    How long do you estimate for a drummer (not a begginer one) to achieve a tight tecnique playing speed metal songs at 150/170 bpm. I haver a hour available everyday to practice. Congratulations for this class! It’s really amazing! I’m stunned by your clarity and simplicity, sharing your awesome tecnique so openly. Thanks!

    • @wanjanechtangroeger
      @wanjanechtangroeger  5 лет назад

      Depends on the way you practise and probably your age. Also on if you already have double bass experience or not. But when you practise efficiently I am sure you should get good results in a matter of weeks.

    • @pessoalsuprema4494
      @pessoalsuprema4494 5 лет назад

      Wanja [Nechtan] Gröger thank you for your atention. Yeah, I really think it should work out this way, but what is pissing me off is some lack of regularity in my development. I ‘ve been playing double bass grooves and short parts in my band’s songs, but practicing that fast longer than usual, has made me feel kind of losing the control totally. I just have to stop cause not even slow speed works. Do u think it could be normal. I’m 35 and in really good shape. Oh, please check my band’s album out. the Band is called Freaky Jelly. Thank you again!
