Hello ladies, what a funny review. I really liked your associations with fish, butter and sausages. Never heard this before in a whisky review. I already tried the TBW. It was good. Need to go hunting for the Perpetuity. A sample would be cool for a start. Keep on entertaining us. Cheers from Germany
My favorite Scotch Blends so far are Black Bottle and Johnnie Walker Green Label....both are a little smoky but fruity as well....The Black Bottle is a real great deal budget wise, currently going for 32 dollars canadian, whereas the JW Green Label is 15 years old, so is 110 dollars canadian a bottle right now. So one budget and one more expensive.
I would highly recommend Naked Grouse (now just called Naked) and Compass Box Orchard House for some rather pleasant and very affordable blends of single malts. Monkey Shoulder is also quite nice but a bit too young for some people's tastes. Also, don't ignore the Gauldrons, Timorous Beastie, Rock Island and other malt blends from Douglas Laing. In fact, it's hard to go wrong with anything from Compass Box or Douglas Laing in general, but some of their offerings can get a bit pricey. There are other single malt Scotch blends that others may be familiar with and can comment on that I haven't tried yet like Gladstone Axe, Sheep Dip and Mossburn.
For some here in the US, the color of the spirit matters to some. There was a Bunnahabhain six year independent bottling that no one bought for years because it looked like urine. I went to the store and the owner said you’re the only guy who’s looked closely at that bottle in years.
@@TheGrailTastings You bring up a very good point. Me being a whisky enthusiast the color of the spirit shouldn't be a factor. What I think for the more casual drinkers is this. They've seen for years in movies and TV shows Scotch is a dark amber hued drink. So that is what they expect. When they don't see that they shun it.
@@TheReal_DeanD Absolutely, it's the same here! Usually find the geeks aren't bothered about colour (except when it's an extreme or unusual, very pale or very dark or a strange tinge is always intriguing) and the newbies/less geeky folk like a dark dram as they think it's older/better quality. We always like to point out those with caramel colouring. . . .the more you know and all that!
@@TheGrailTastings Regarding dark color and its bias. Have you or any of the other whiskey geeks dealt with distilleries that do live casking? I'm beginning to think that some distilleries are doing that practice so they can get a very dark color with not having to add E15. I think my beloved Edradour does this. Some of their spirits are so dark. It's gotten to the point now I've become interested in if an Edradour is more pale.
How many whiskies have you had that single evening when you were wearing those clothes. Considering that, you seem quite sober to me :). Anyway your diggin into some whiskies i will probably never try in my life and i am coming back to you guys since you amuse me a lot. Keep up the good work.
First - you guys have the most fun reviews on all of youtube. Not even close. Second - Who cares about the color of the bottle - one of the best blends - timorous beastie is in a bottle dark as night. Never heard a whisky described as deep fried sausage or the corner of a fish.........🤣🤣🤣 Enjoy!

Glad you enjoyed our tasting notes!! 😂
I opened TB/BSW two weeks ago and instantly fell in love with it. Just perfect for easy sipping on a warm spring day.
The corner of a fish has to be one of the best tasting notes I've ever heard
Was it got from a corner fish & chippie?🙃 Or would that be too corny?
Never thought I'd hear battered sausage as a reference in a whisky review what next it smells of "chups",great review though ladies as always
😂 It certainly would be good with chups!

Black bottle is a go-to for us as well!

It's definitely still a big factor here too! Do you think it should be 🧐?

Aw thanks!
Disappointed there wasn't a jobbie note; then we could have called it Poopetuity.
Aw that would have been good!

😂
A fish with corners? Must be a tilefish.
And if it's in Perpetuity, I guess you could call it a tiled fish (apologies to M.C. Escher, of course).
Battered into a corner and tessellated in poopertuity?
The batter on a sausage .. all the English viewers are w.t.f.. if you know you know
Do you not get batter on a sausage in England?? The things we don't realise are Scottish!!!
@@TheGrailTastings As a Scottish man who has lived in England since 98 I can concisely say naw they dinnae
Where are you getting your fish?
From the chip shop!
