@@rizwanshamil She is an elderly woman. She may not understand as much as your mother. Insha Allah, just be nice to her and be respectful, don't debate her, just smile if she brings it up. and try to lighten the mood or maybe even make a joke about how you want look like your father and she will get over it soon. My grandmothers from both sides of the family were okay with me keeping my beard and even encouraged me to keep it but majority my aunts, uncles and cousins told me to shave it. I did have a few aunts, unlces and cousins who encouraged me to keep it. The majority of them now don't mind anymore(but a few still do) and even say it is good and most of my uncles and male cousins are now keeping their beards now Alhamdulillah.
If you watched the video it is very clear. You have to grow your beard it's not an option and if you listen to them when they tell you to do something that goes against Islam, you will be sinful

@@befree9579 Me too bro. I'm also Somali and at first when i was 21 my beard were like 20 useless hairs. Being frustrated i shaved it. That was almost two years ago. During these almost two years i haven't touched it with a razor and it has grown in to a small goatee now that i am 23. In sha allah it will grow more because i want a nice beard, it's wajib and it's masculine.

Islam also teaches us to be hygienic and groom ourselves. Overgrown beards are not only smelly especially after eating, it looks like armpit hair on your face. So trim your beard and your under south hair! Shave your armpit hair if your trimmed armpit hair smells. Simple.

Sunnah is the way of life of the prophet.
At other case we know
There's a 5 category of a condiiton: Wajib (Fardhu), Sunnah, Mubah, Makruh, Haram.
Wajib is obligatory, Sunnah is you get a reward if you do but not obligatory, mubah is neutral (optional), makruh is something be hated that you reccomended to leave it, and haram is something you commit sin if you do.
So Sunnah (the way of life of the prophet) has this 5 category for the basic right? wajib, sunnah, mubah, makruh, haram.
For example Rasulullah tell us to pray 5 times a day because it is wajib, or Rasulullah do sadaqah (for example to us) because it's sunnah (not wajib), or Rasulullah tell us to not eat pork because its haram.
So what he means, theres sunnah that wajib, theres sunnah that sunnah is like this

God gave men free wills to keep beards or no beards, for their own pleasure or liking. Keeping beard or not, has nothing to do with religious duties. As a matter of fact God condemns those orthodox Jewish, orthodox Christians and orthodox Muslims, the idol worshipers who insist that keeping beards is obligatory required in religion, thus He made them as despicable as apes, monkeys and pigs with beards. (Quran 2:65, 7:166, 5:60-63)

Please understand, that God had commanded beards and corners of the beards not cut of the Israelite men in the Old Testament. However, when Jesus the son of God came to fulfill the laws, He didn't make certain laws an issue, but our hearts. We must honor God's love for us, by honoring his Word. God doesn't need any help making His instructions for us. Just study the original Bible. Allah is a loving God, and He sacrificed Himself for our sins. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish (in Hell) but have eternal life." God is love driven. He had to sacrifice a perfect sacrifice i.e. Himself, and take all the abuse from ignorant mankind in the process. But His love for us motivated Him to make the sacrifice. He doesn't care about our beards, but our hearts!

That's why we follow the Qur'an, and we disregard all else. God is the guide, not Muhammad (pbuh). The messenger's job was to deliver the Qur'an, nothing else. If something is important, God would let us know. Everybody interprets Sunnah differently, so how can this be followed? It can't. Hijab is not Islam, beard is not Islam, Arabic is not Islam, gown is not Islam - it is culture. Islam is Love for God and following the Qur'an. It is only Love for God
