Yeah, those fuses will getcha, it can be helpful to just sit in the cockpit, read the checklists and even stare at controls. Like I said on the discord earlier, writing down checklists by hand is very helpful both for memory and for quick reference! (Don’t forget your handy tabs!)
Dude coming straight down sideways through the atmosphere, I don't even know if the RCS saved you or the capsule shape reoriented itself naturally, amazing vid continue the great work
Nah, RCS didn't really help... the capsule is aerodynamically stable in the retrograde position IF the pressure is low, but deeper down in the Atmosphere it doesn't matter because of the droguechute/parachute
@@luketech3767 yes as I second guessed as well, but as you mentioned the drogue, it happened 2 times with me s situation where I had to manually extend it l, didn't fully deploy automatically
I don't think the atmosphere is really modeled in the game, realistically yes the shape would bring us around or maybe doom us to heading nose first - but in-game firing RCS did in fact realign us to retro!
22:10 From what I understood you messed up cause you were facing the earth while descending. It said to manually return to retrograde attitude before turning on the autopilot. You turned on the autopilot while still in prograde attitude (you were facing the direction you were going towards). You basically had the spacecraft enter the atmosphere upside down. Which rendered the heat shield pretty much useless. I don't really know how you survived through that and how the spacecraft managed to endure all that thermic stress while in descent. But hey, you made it! 🥳

This was amazing. Good job on the flight, and with the post-flight analysis :)
Yeah i agree and the part like at 1 hour and 29 minutes i saw you added the measels part that almost killed me but dont worry im alive i promess. 😂😂

You convinced me to buy the game, and im having so much fun, thank you
Awesome!!
I wonder what the guys on the ground were thinking when you started re-entry sideways and saw your heart rate and blood pressure spike lol
Probably just as much panic as I felt XD
That was fantastic. I'm guessing the actual Mercury pilots practiced more beforehand. :)
Definitely going to have to get this game.
Definitely practiced much more than I have yes haha
Whew... a whole bunch of history and checklists, followed by fifteen seconds of terror!
22:10

How did he not notice the "AUTO RETRO JETT" switch was off instead of armed? Probably stress. Great Video and keep being amazing :D!
Definitely stress XD The fuse and switch slipped my mind, it's so obvious now!
@N9 Gaming it was almost painful, but glad you noticed afterwards :)
1:08 woah N9 can read this is revolutionary
You’re a pro astronaut already. Thx again for a cool video. Have to get this simulator/game 🤩
Love the cat!
5 seconds from launch you should yank the abort ring.
I believe it might be a handle but I definitely should - for science xD
It's probably been said before, but you were in the emergency checklists.
Jeeze dude. You're a pro. Now call out dude who commented that to do it
You should have set you Number 1 fan on to your suite and use the temp adjuster
Great Video!!!!
That was a rush. The most interesting thing is the sounds... are these recorded from actual flights?
I think they were!
Amazing. Now all we need is artificial gravity to hold you back in your seat, or throw you to the side when you mess up the gimbals!
@@Danbearpig Oh man I would have an absolute blast with that
26:33 “Drogue is not deployed! Drogue is not deployed!!!”
I’m sure that’s something Alan Shepherd didn’t say on his flight. Just a wild guess.
I would sure hope not!!
i want to watch this but i dont because i want to buy the game and expierence it for myself but the urge to watch is to great.
I am laugh at you looking at the emergency checklist instead of the right one... that would be me lol looks close enough
Nice Video
You opened the wrong retro checklist lol
Yes indeed xD
him: presses retropack jettison
the capsule: *muffled boom*
me hearing the retropack falling away for the first time: someone blew up the heat shield
so trying to play kerbal and right as the tower jettisoned my game crashed

Where can you get both the Mercury, and Gemini video game programs?
This game is sold on Steam, it has those and Apollo!
nice
nice vid
1st episode huh? Suppose it is when you had to redo the preflight interior check again.
Recorded both in the same day, didn't mean to leave that in whoop xD
i found out if you hit f1 you can see the rocket
What video editing software do you use?
He uses DaVinci Resolve 17 or 16. I forgot what version.
Yeah 16
