I loved her character in this movie. Their relationship was beautiful. They could’ve made her the bitter cheated on wife. Instead they made her his mother and it was just absolutely perfect

Sly opted out because he felt Rocky didn’t belong in Creed 3. But he absolutely should’ve been there for Mary-Anne.
@@richos07Nope. Sly didn’t come back because he didn’t like the direction of where the story was headed and he has had longstanding issues with the films producer, Irwin Winkler. Winkler owns the rights to the “Rocky” franchise since 1976. Stallone naively sold Winkler the rights all those years ago when he was a struggling actor and has been fighting to get ownership for years.
She holds so much contempt for him because she lost her husband to boxing. She only wanted to love him, and he kept fighting, until inevitably, he died.

I felt her pain in this scene. Being worried about your son losing his life like his father while understanding he's chosen his path. Nothing you can do about it but let him follow his passion regardless of the dangers that come with it. Top notch acting and such a good scene

We know Mary Anne isn’t Adonis’s biological mother, however, she is his real mother considering the fact that she accepted him, took care of him, loved and him and saw him as her son from the moment she met him at the group home. She is Donnie’s real mother, she is the only maternal figure Donnie grew up with.
What a wonderful woman Marianne is. How many women would take in their husbands mistresses child & raise him as her own. She loved apollo so much she wanted to give his child a life.

Neither of the two ‘Creed’ movies explains how Maryanne Creed discovered that Apollo had a love child with Miss Johnson. My theory is that the young, ‘side-piece’ Miss Johnson “tried to monetarily collect” from Apollo’s estate some time after discovering she was carrying the dead Apollo’s child, AND that Miss Johnson “failed to get any money for all of her efforts” due to Maryanne’s high-priced, quality attorneys. So, Maryanne knew that Adonis existed, yet she ostensibly stayed out of his life until she discovered that his mother had died, and that he was confined to a juvenile detention center.
You think she felt some guilt thinking had she given them some money, their lives, or at least Adonis life, would have been different?
I don't believe that, my theory is she was told after his mother died (my guess is a drug overdose) and she was like "he is Apollo's son" so she went and got him

@@aaronkenyon7112 Sylvia Meals was just fine and quite beautiful in her younger days. Besides, Phylicia was pretty much a Broadway only actress at that part of her career and mightve been too young at 27 to be Apollo's wife in the first film.

+Joe Whitehead well it explains why he would have been drawn to fighting. Apollo's other kids all grew up with him and his wife from birth living the good life, so they would never have been drawn to boxing for a living. Adonis spent much of his childhood in foster-care or in juvy until Creed's wife adopts him. When that British fighter calls him "silver spoon" it's because he doesn't know about this aspect of his life and assumes that his whole life was spent living in Apollo's mansion.
