  • Our sad little Volvo finally gets some new rear brakes! I'm glad I finally pulled the trigger on this stuff as it I was missing half of it and broke most of the stuff that was there!

    Bummer you had so many setbacks with the brakes, but glad it got sorted in the end! Perfect timing with this video, as I am going to try a brake system swap on my 58 Amazon. The brake system will be the same as you have on your car. My parts supplier will provide all brand new parts if available, and managed to find the rest from a donor 66 model. Since the axle felt seal has the same part number, the 66 backing plate should in theory bolt straight on. However, I expect there will be at least as many setbacks as you had, if not more. :-)

    • @DeanofMachines
      @DeanofMachines  Год назад

      That sounds like a good swap! Good luck on your endeavor as there are plenty of setbacks...

    Bubble flares are a problem lol. Why complicate something as simple as a pipe flare? I also resorted to finishing my flares using the calipers or whatever fitting is home base. That way I know it's the right shape. I have now been inspired to get out in my yard, and fix my thing. Great vid✌️

    Hello Dean, great videos. Appreciate the technical info and love the cars. Quick question...I'm trying to get my 68 122 back on the road. I took rear brakes apart and am ready to reassemble. are there large spacers ( the thick one that goes under the felt axle seam flange} on both the drivers and pass side? I seem to have only one.

    • @DeanofMachines
      @DeanofMachines  4 месяца назад

      Hi Bill! Off the top of my head I dont remember. When I had mine apart there were multiple spacers but I think only on one side. Its not a good example though because one side of my rear axle was missing brake components in the drum. It would be worth digging up a green book or emailing VP autoparts to see what their documentation says.
