- This full CGI sequence was done as a proof of concept for a serie of three episodes in the viking world. This is the first sequence of the first episode.
The biggest technical challenge for us was to get photorealistic humans to speak in a believable way, given that the series is very much based on the relationship between our two main characters.
As it is a proof of concept, we couldn't add an original score to it and we'd rather leave it as it is than use temporary soundtracks.

What a masterpiece. The only thing that didn‘t quite work, were some subtle mouth movements, sometimes it seemed to be to stiff. But eyes, lighting, clothes, hair, atmosphere…. Really nice.
I'm simply speechless. As a 3D artist I know how much pain you have endured to deliver something of this level for the world to see. It's insane and you should be proud of yourselves. I can't even fathom the hours that this took to make. The sculpting, simulation of the hair physics, animations, refining and compositing.. damn. Not to mention the rendering. I assume you used a render farm to render this, right? One frame of this quality would take even a 4090 pretty long to render I assume.
We had 13 PCs that could render so we had to be smart to avoid long render times. The render quality isn't as high as we would have liked but we're still pretty proud of what came up ! Thank you so much for your comment !
@@noOneStudio No need to thank me, you did an amazing job and the quality is insane! It takes me a good 2 hours to render a 1080p 20 second scene on my 4060Ti, even when using stylized models & have everything set up properly. How long did it take you to render completely, if you don't mind me asking?
@@Kenjjoo It's hard to know the real render time. But for the two closeups (eyes and mouth), a frame was about 6h long. For the wider shots, it was between 2h and 3h30 per frame.

that's dope, I keep watching it again and again, the realism on the boy is crazy, it's a real dude right here. Also the ligthing is dope, I mean, everything is just super clean, congrats, you all can be proud !!
Something is quite of with audio vs lip movement. But that picture/rendering quality is great. Teeth still look weird, but that's a general thing with all these fake white all same looking teeth.
I think the „wetness“ of the mouth is missing, which is like a coat on top of teeth and the lips etc. Also the Lip Texture isn‘t high res enough for such a close up Shot to be photoreal. As well as the skin it Lacks some fidelity and facial hair. But Overall it is pretty amazing and sometimes indistinguishable from real footage.
