    As far as the phone goes, I have an iPhone. I connect to the wired CarPlay and I put my phone in the center console, under the lid. It works perfectly for me.

      You can also stand the phone up between the lid and the cup holders with the cable connected.

    I have the 2023 XC60 Plus B5 mild hybrid. I agree completely with your criticisms on the need for a much improved center stack design and wireless charger. This car should have better storage options. It can absolutely do that while maintaining its simple, elegant design approach that Scandinavian design is admired for. The VW Tiguan has plenty of unobtrusive compartments available to the driver that are not garish or clumsy. So does the 2023 CRV. Volvo needs to address this.
    The drive, while not exciting at all, is comfortable and confident and fuel economy is about 28 MPG (I drive about 20,000 miles per year). It seems to me that creating a car that has an exciting feel while driving was not the intention at all. Volvo prioritized other things and I appreciate that. I switched the 21” rims to the 19” and the ride is WAY better now. I don’t have the air ride feature so the 19” rims made the feel of the ride on choppy roads so much better and smoother. The Harmon Kardon sound system is excellent with good base and rich mid tones. The seats are really comfortable, the interior is elegant and the materials are very good quality. You guys did a good review! Thanks for sharing your perspectives!

      Thank you for your detailed comment! We love getting comments from owners, as it allows us to see how our impressions stack up to long-term experiences of actual consumers. Glad to hear we are pretty much spot on! And you definitely made the right choice to go for smaller rims, almost every vehicle has rims way too big these days...

    What mpg did you get on the highway (when you weren't going bonkers in Power mode)?

    • @GCCarsCA
      @GCCarsCA  4 месяца назад +1

      Unfortunately I wasn't able to do a proper highway fuel economy test. However, due to the nature of the XC60 being a PHEV, highway fuel economy will be worse than city with this one sitting at around 9 - 10L / 100km (roughly 25 mpg).

    I don't know how you guys in NA configure the XC60... but in Europe wireless charging is included and it's almost standard in the XC60 (I think it's included on the Ultimate version and Polestar) so... You might want to review what you've done in terms of configuration.
    Have an XC60 and Wireless charging is there. :)

    • @GCCarsCA
      @GCCarsCA  11 месяцев назад

      Good to hear that you have one! To clarify, this is a press-vehicle spec'd by Volvo Canada. Sometimes vehicles might not come with a wireless charger because an option wasn't ticked by the manufacturer, but then our criticism is more guided at the fact that you can even get a $90,000+ vehicle without a wireless charger lol

      I have a black Escalade. It looks great when clean but it’s so hard to keep clean. It attracts dust like crazy in the summer…and winter is fine until the vehicle gets sand & salt all over it. Plus, you really see the scratch marks unless a person could get a protective coating on their vehicle?

    I chose the PLUS version of this Volvo instead of the Genesis GV70 because I need to tow a boat and did not want range anxiety. Everyone is buying a model Y and I find there interior not rewarding unless you love software. I don’t regret my choice, except I am missing the sound of the super B&W Stereo that came with your test model. I went for the middle range Harmon Kardon to save some $$$.

    • @GCCarsCA

      Always clever to pick and chose your trims and options instead of going for the top-spec. Doing so eliminates our biggest concern with the XC60: the price. Glad you like yours, it's a great SUV!

  • @mathieuroy6572
    @mathieuroy6572 2 месяца назад

    They keep saying 95k CAD but it starts at 63.5k in Canada, if you're able to resist the fancy options (plus you get PHEV subsidies). You get the same drive trains. For people like me that usually commute 20km a day but sometimes has to get to clients 900km away it's perfect. (my other car is fully electric).

    • @GCCarsCA

      We can only test what manufacturers put into the fleet, and that is usually the top trim like Volvo has done here. So the comparisons themselves remain fair, as it always top trim vs top trim. Any lower-spec opinions can then be extrapolated from that.
      But you're right, the top trim rarely is the one to pick!

    Hey here some greetings from Germany. I have the XC 60 T( Recharge now for 10000km and it is really a super car - but: the rear lights for driving back are only candles. Terrible at night and special in rain. Same major problem with the 360° camera at night and rain. Not acceptable for that price. Stay safe!

      Liebe Gruesse zurueck! I didn't notice any issue with the lights, but Toronto gives off so much light pollution that it rarely gets really dark here... I appreciate you sharing your personal experience!

      @alexshapley8331 4 месяца назад +2

      It's the same for the XC40 Recharge - impossible to see where you are reversing in the dark (unlit underground car parks are the worst).

      @@alidusaka175 I find it annoying (especially where it lights up the inside of the doors) so usually either turn it off completely, or tone it down. Of course, as it's Volvo Infotainment, it usually takes a few minutes to find the correct settings screen...

    @mg5454 10 месяцев назад +1

    I would consider buying this car if the interior didn't suck as bad as it does. The screen is tiny, horrible for a 2024 car and the dash vents look awful, it's a deal breaker despite everything else being very nice. It makes the interior look tiny too, it needs a re-design badly, I think the poor interior will kill sales. In my opinion, the interior turns it into a woman's car...
