The Boondocks. If you're black like me, this is the show that almost every parent would ban anyone from watching since it was adult in nature. But we kids loved it anyway except for season four.
Freaking this! The top 5 shows were pretty edgy for their time, compared to the other shows on this list, they're tame af! Yes Cartman is the devil next to Bart Simpson, but compared to Metalocalypse or Super Jail, he's an angel.
I’m kinda surprised “the Simpsons” isn’t on this list since that show also has its fair share of…raunchy moments, even for something supposedly family friendly
Honorable mention goes to Helluva Boss. This show has a lot of instances of horny demons and satanic themes that would disturb parents and even devout Christians. Plus we get the usual sex, gory violence, and foul language.
@@dreamguardian8320 I agree that the sexy girl scenes are the main draw on Stripperella. But IMHO, the humor falls under the category of "so bad, it's good".
Actually, the Boondocks is probably one of the adult shows my parents watched, and they find this show relatable, especially when it came to black communities😁
Most of these shows my family actually do watch without keeping them away from our parents sometimes. Such as Ren & Stimpy, Family Guy, and South Park.
Another show I wanna add here: Duckman. It was like Wild Thornberrys style animation and Family Guy style humor Another one I think should be on the list is Dreamworks’ “Father of the Pride”
"YOU LET YOUR GUARD DOWN! You thrust your pelvis, HAH. You thrust your pelvis, HAH." I'm glad I got all the season downloaded so I can watch at anytime.
Duckman brought back so many childhood memories. It was my first cartoon that I ever watched that was so vulgar. Nothing has come close to it since, in my opinion
I thought the Mr. Hell show would have been here. This animated comedy had running gags about a psychotic baby seal, Josh trying to talk about reincarnation, as well as dark humour and taboo conversation. I’m sure it has inspired more than one on this list.
Funny thing, the early 60's cartoons like Flintstones was considered adult just because they was showed prime time not in early morning or Saturday morning
I'm a grandma now. My kids love these shows. The one with the twin grandsons plans to introduce both of them to all these. Family watching traditions are awesome.
I actually watched Drawn Together with my little sister last year. My parents didn’t say anything to me. Also, I watched South Park with my older cousin when I was around 8 or 9 (mom was in the room) and Family Guy with my parents and my parents also watched Archer while I was in the room when I was 12.
One night I was watching "My Adventures with Superman" when my mom walks in at the exact moment Clark takes off his blazer. The camera slowly pans up Clark's body to show off his muscles and face as soft music plays in the background. I was so embarrassed! I prayed to God my mom wouldn't notice my reaction, _but then she turns to me and sees my face, red as a tomato, which only made me blush harder._ This show man😅
While I only watched 5 shows from this list, I had to admit 4 of them are on the top 6. It is a surprise I ended up being a normal adult (If only someone could confirm)
"which show were you banned from?" I was born in the 80s and grew up in the 90s. We didn't have banned shows. I was watching wren and stimpy when I was 9 xD
My dad watched The Simpsons, Family Guy, Ren & Stimpy, South Park, King of the Hill, and Beavis & Butthead. Probably watched Bob's Burgers & American Dad too. Lol
Beavis and Butthead has been my favorite cartoon ever since I was a teenager. My mom even watched it with me a couple of times and she thought it was funny and kinda dumb.🤣
The Simpsons came out when I was in 3rd grade, and I got detention for wearing a Bart Simpson tee shirt that said "Eat my shorts". In 6th grade, when Beavis and Butthead came out, I got sent home from the school dance for wearing that tee shirt. So by the time South Park and Family Guy came out , I didnt bother buying any more tee shirts.
It only took a few totally different shows to make me come to the decision to never watch any cartoons in view of family. The episode can be completely tame but for that 20 seconds someone _just so happens_ to walk in and look at the screen, something gross happens, they'd look at me and ask what the heck I'm watching. 22½ minutes of a 23 minute episode... totally fine... then embarrassing things right out of left field. Family Guy. American Dad. Dexter's Lab. Powerpuff Girls. You name it. Twenty years later and nothing's changed. I had a _Spongebob Squarepants_ (first 100 episodes set) playing, last disc, a cousin came in for a moment and suddenly the episode took a 180° turn from its usual loony ways to have Spongebob crawling on the ground making weird noises and acting like he was having a stroke. What set me off way back when was an excerpt of _American Dad_ was on (while channel flipping) and it showed Roger's "breasts" being milked while being hooked to a machine. The whole house was claimed "what the actual f*ck". Show's odd, but not supposed to be that gross based on my casual observation. Lesson learned: it's best to watch anything *ALONE* unless you and everyone else are open minded. Very open minded.
236: I bet you’re going to mention Mr. Pickles. Thanks to you WatchMojo people, there’s no way I’m watching it. Also, one of my friends couldn’t get through one episode
"Moral Oral" deserved an Honorable mention 😂. Robot Chicken, family Guy, Rick and Morty , f is for family and a few others are items we (son and I)definitely watched together. 😅. - I didn't want to hide everything, and he turned out just fine but I understand each parent has their own conquer level of what they think is best.
I've seen Superman impale the Joker with his fist so I know how violent DC animated films can be. I watched the banned episode of Family Guy and was shocked at how controversial it is. Family Guy is no stranger to controversy. 14:09 Well you are in a cartoon. 14:42 🤘. Breaking the law, breaking the law. Let's burn something. Why does a mature cartoon have such a childish cartoon aesthetic? I enjoyed watching the COVID episode of South Park. My dad seemed okay with the movie even though it's full of swearing and actually received a Guinness world record of most swearing in an animated film.
I've seen "Drawn Together", "Robot Chicken", "Family Guy", "The Boondocks", and "South Park" as a child. I wasn't banned from watching any of them. My parents don't know that "Family Guy" is not for kids and my brother and I watched it in front of them. My dad thinks all cartoons are for kids. We didn't watch the other cartoons I mentioned in front of them. They have never heard of the other shows on this list. I haven't seen the other adult shows on this list, except clips of "Rick and Morty" on an episode of a TV show. I also saw a clip of "Beavis and Butthead" on another tv show and a clip one of my friends showed me on his phone. I'd like to check them out!
My older brother used to watch “Happy Tree Friends” on the living room television when we were kids and our parents weren’t around! That show gave me so many nightmares!!!
MTV had Beavis and Butthead, Aeon Flux, and another cartoon call "Celebrity DeathMatch" which was made in a similar claymation fashion like Robot Chicken. My sister and I used to binge watch this show!
Ones on this list I've watched with members of my family (typically cousins, uncles, or my Dad): Archer, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Harley Quinn, Rick & Morty, The Boondocks, Beavis and Butt-Head, and South Park (my Dad's favorite). Got in trouble watching Happy Tree Friends in middle school in class when we had a computer lab day. Parents were more mad that I was not doing my school work than watching that. This list will need an update when we get more of Invincible. Not a super hero show for kids and younger teens at all.
Lol, I’m a parent and we watch Harley Quinn/Rick & Morty on the regular (my kids are teenagers). When I was younger I watched Stripperella in the living room thinking my mom was asleep and she came in and saw the tv. She was very disappointed lol. I wonder if there’s a connection between these situations 🤔
Yep. I 100% agree with happy tree friends being on the list, I mean, I'm ok with vilance at times, but, with some of the more gruesome fates and horrific screams to them, it a actually was SCARED as a kid watching it
I remember showing my mom an episode of Metalocalypse and there was a scene where some of the members were in a strip club and there were topless doing lap dances. She was not amused 😂 she did not share my humor
nice you mentioned Stripperella and Happy Tree Friends. I would also add American Dad since you have Family Guy on the List. I wonder what some Parents say to Itchy and Scratchy. But hey could be worse. Someone starts the wrong Anime series and now he knows what a Waifu is and what Hentai means
I don’t like to watch anything with anyone. I prefer to not know other people’s thoughts about…certain things, and I really prefer them to not know my thoughts about…certain things.
When I was growing up, parents HATED The Simpsons…in retrospect, it was soooo tame to the choices on this list. I liked Big Mouth, but the toilet humor made me cringe…I thought it would have ranked higher than Family Guy!
once I was on a birthday party of my mom's best friend's 4 year old child. I saw with my own eyes a group of about seven 4-year olds sitting on the floor, watching Happy Tree Friends and laughing their asses off at the horrific deaths on the cartoon characters
241: Happy Tree Friends at number two? Wow, I’m loving this ranking! It’s not just the gruesome deaths they go through but it also includes a character that goes through PTSD, that was from the war. Whenever Flippy is mentioned, he’ll get very creative in the kill. I like him better than Jigsaw
South Park should be mandatory watching. It's subtle sarcasm and sublime satire are superb. It can sometimes be gross or fuked up, just for shits and giggles. More often than not though, almost everything is there to make a point in some way. It's much deeper than it looks. We should ALL learn something today.
1:36 one thing I hate about f is for family is Frank because he's a real dick especially towards his two sons and the fact he favours his young daughter like favouring a child is not good parenting I mean with characters like Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson you kind of forgive them because they don't know any better but Frank is actually pretty smart so he hasn't really got an excuse
242: At first when I was a kid, I saw the South Park DVD from my cousin Fancy’s room. Luckily, I didn’t watch it at a early age. In my 20’s, I got curious about episodes I’ve heard from WatchMojo videos and I think I’ve only watched 9 episodes. It’s not for me but one episode did make me laugh hard (Eric Cartman dressed as Britney Spears)
Helluva boss that show contains intense violence,Strong language Sexual themes, Blood and gore, Satanic themes and I’m a devoted Christian and I think those demons killing people is offensive to me.

For me, it was top o the list. I got myself banned from watching that damn South Park REAL quick
While "F is for Family" isn't the most family friendly show, it's sweet that Bill Burr still centred an animated sitcom around his own father.
It had dark humor
I’m just glad it made a list and go beyond being an honorable mention.
I am suprised american dad is not on list and castlevania too
F is for Family is surprisingly wholesome at times
I guess Bill's father was an abrasive dick who would lash out like Frank

Don't forget about MTV Celebrity Deathmatch.
Helluva boss that show contains intense violence,Strong language Sexual themes, Blood and gore, Satanic themes and I’m a devoted Christian and I think those demons killing people is offensive to me.
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! Awesome cartoon shows. The #1 on my list is "Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon". 🤣
The Simpsons, American Dad, Primal, Dragon Ball Z, Baby Blues, and other adult shows that aren't for kids should've been on the list. 🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠📺🎥🎥🎥🎬🎬
Shows are definitely prioritized on this list for being famous. South Park shouldn't be rated above Drawn Together or Mr Pickles.
"you'll never be able to explain these shows, half of which your parents grew up watching, to your parents"
