Great video, as always! If you don't mind me asking.. what's the song playing in the background of your videos? It's sooo relaxing & I'd love to listen to it while I'm painting. Thank you
It is a classic and should be left in time. If it didnt happen then well its too late. It wouldn't be the same because the cast got older and look different now. Thats my opinion.
People forgot about William. He kept those girls safe, balanced, check them when he needed it too. William has not been forgotten about either. #talkinishwitchris
fav character hands down. Kept me laughing and kept me watching the show with my girl. Not to mention that The Game is a spin off that I had watched before this.
I just rewatched the whole 8 seasons of Girlfriends in 2 weeks. I couldn't stop watching. I'm mad they ended the way they did. They could of at least gave us a real goodbye.
They don't like showing pleasant upscale black women who show the true black woman's life. They want us fighting and acting ugly wantibg to call us all kinds of names
I can’t believe Joan didn’t get the marriage of her dreams!!! She found a guy and they send him to Iraq?? And definitely bring Toni back to reconcile their their friendship with Joan.
I couldn't watch Girlfriends after Toni left. It felt that show was ending because she was there. There was a big avoid. They got Monica to replace her but was not the same. She hasn't a girlfriend.
I think it was a bad representation you have two mix girls who are educated and non threatening one is a focused over achiever who fails at relationships and at a sex life and a under achiever who is the opposite they are friends with a dark skin gold digger who is a self hater and who married a white man and then the mix lead becomes friend with a hood chick to use her to feel more black and learn what black love is like .this is what girlfriends was about.
Great insight @@ecatskid . Although a very entertaining show, subliminal images/messages like the one you pointed out are often overlooked [for various reasons].
Girlfriends was the upscale, West Coast version of Living Single. It deserved better than it got, in the end. Wonderful writing, wonderful casting...I’m surprised that no millionaire BLACK producer wants to be the executive producer for this project.
LBVS Radio Dark -- I guess it's not white-ish black-ish enough know what I mean? You can't stereotype that show. Because all of these black women characters were too head strong and each had their own dominating personality which blended too well with each other. Neither character was too big or too overwhelming towards the other characters even the smaller characters held their own against the main characters. It would be nice if they would blend both Girlfriends and Living Single into one show and instead of being a half hour make it a full hour. You might say that's gonna be hard to blend both shows that good into one show. But nothing is impossible and with the right writing team it could be done.
Girlfriends was my favorite tv shows I’m all for it coming back to tv or even a movie it did not get the credit it deserved but it was wonderful writing and casting it should come back to tv
Living Single definitely! But like you said upscale though. Lynn was dingy like Sinclair only difference Lynn was sexually open than Sinclair. Joan was the lawyer like Max only difference Joan wasn't a moocher and she wasn't shallow about love. Toni was boogy like Ragine. Only difference Ragine had morals about herself. And Maya was strong willed and outspoken like Kadijah. Only difference Kadijah had her own company and was single with no child
Yes. Girlfriends was indeed bigger than the network that gave it a chance, but I am glad that the show didn’t die a sad death on the CW network either. I also cannot see how it would have had room to evolve into the great show that it became on a major broadcast network either.
I think we all feel robbed because Girlfriends never “jumped the shark” before it vanished from the airwaves. This show and Living Single are two of the reasons that “Girls Trip” was a commercial success.
There is always that one person that wants to leave a show or group because of money or going sole. Yet, you rarely hear from them again. So many great shows and music groups have been ruined because of it.
Obdiane speak that truth. Jill Jones who and where? It's hard out there in them streets on your own, Tracee Ellis ross has rich dad and legendary mom, sure she's going to continue working
I agree I think like other co-stars they get big headed and think they are better then the show that made then a house hold name . I could see if she had a big movie or another show she was working with then I could under stand her leaving but when you leave with no back up plan it shows it was heated moment type of situation and not gettinf the money you think your deserve would make u want to quit with out thinking. She said she wanted to persue other things but what show or movie has she been in as big as or bigger then Girlfriends and when the cast woukd be asked about her around that time they would dance around that question so you know it left a bad taste in their mouth. Sometimes what we think we are owed isn't really that if course you don't want to be taken advantage but sometimes it ok to wait till it's your turn and not put the rest of your "family " out there to the wolves (fans and media wondering what happened)
Amen!!!!! This happens time and time again, with that person never having the same level of success as they did with a group. I rather have a little something, than all of nothing.
As a black man I love watching these beautiful, intelligent, funny black women on my mondays! Now we have women on tv fighting, yelling with plastic bodies!
Diana Ross could've paid for the show and movie all the money she has.uñless she and daughter Traci don't get along. Diana could've supported her daughter more
@@ninasterling8757 that sounds good in theory but even Kelsey Grammer has a daughter that's a struggling actress, he's not emptying his bank account to finance shows to employ her that's just not how it work ... you gotta work for it. his daughter was on soaps ATWT making a few hundred an episode and was written off before we could blink .. it's apart of the road to your own success
Even a summer replacement schedule would satisfy what happened to the Ladies of GFs. It would help the true fans close the door on an investment we made!
Liz Carol EXACTLY!!!! And people act like they don’t know or haven’t heard Mara say she couldn’t find a production company, Tyler & Oprah know and obviously aren’t interested. I wish people would please stop thinking that the 2 most mainstream black entertainers would have an interest in this show.
I used to watch this show with my wife and we’re not black. Loved it,it reminded me of “Living Single” with Queen Latifah and Kim Fields. They should bring this show back and give it a proper ending.
Yeeeessss me a Hispanic and my boyfriend a Filipino; we both fell in love with this show. It was relatable yet touched upon social issues that educated us. I hope to find another show just like Girlfriends. I never expected it to become our comfort show by the end and we just finished S8 Ep 13 and we feel so empty now 😭
Never was a fan of friends or Seinfeld. Girlfriends was everything, I hated that they canceled the show so abruptly. The fact is that America wasn’t ready for black television that actually portrayed black women in a positive light.
smokey kool-aid how and when did I knock the so-called “white shows”? Just because I personally did not care for friends or Seinfeld doesn’t mean that I had anything against them, I just never liked those shows.
I loved Friends never was a Seinfeld watcher though... I loved Girlfriends because they were relatable we all know at least one of those 4 type of women if not ALL if them
@@Megaman.ExE7 Oh my God! I totally remember that show now! I'm not gonna lie, I really liked that show. One of the sitcoms that was definitely forgotten thru time. One of the rare white sitcoms on UPN.
79bnice Thank you for putting it on the table & making it clear. I have always believed that was the primary reason for this demise of our beloved show.
I never thought it was even close to sex and the city. Besides sex and the city was first 🤷🏽♀️one was cable the other wasn't. I loved both shows equally and they only compared because they were women.
I don't know about that. Black people are not enough to carry a show, we need white people. Friends and Seinfield everyone was watching them, asian, white, black etc. Girlfriends, honestly was only black women. I love the show, and as a young teenage black girl, helped me so much with myself esteem however, very unrealistic to think they would of surpassed white tv.
UPN pissed me off period when they cut this show, " Eve", and "All of Us" to conglomerate with the WB network, especially since these shows were holding their own. They also ended "Half & Half" like this!
The way they stop the series was so savage 😩 we never saw the wedding of Joan , also the baby boy of William dent and more !! I feel betrayed 😭😭😭 they definitely should make movie !!!
I think they cut the show because they where being shown as black women with education and class but they didn’t want to show that anymore now you see black women on tv disrespecting themselves such as Atlanta housewives love and hip hop and so on and so on but I wish they will come out with a reboot are a movie sex in the city had a movie reboot so let girlfriends come back with something girlfriends always💓💓💓💓
Blackish strong black family not to mention she is a doctor, charmichael's, grown ish, insecure, black lighting all great shows . Yes I think they need to stop showing the ratchet reality shows but they also have TI and Tiny and friends which is a great family show. Just know they have bad in all races not just blacks.
You are so right all networks took off shows, that showed black people in a positive light. Lincoln heights that was a black family oriented show, college hill which had some drama but showed black kids experience in college. etc. t.v just not worth watching any more
I know that I would most definitely loved to see a comeback return from Girlfriends. The best time for Melanin Prosperity Shows were in the 1970s,1980s and the 1990s. Thank Goodness that I was a little girl in the 70s a Teenager Lady in the 80s and in my 20s,during the 90s. To enjoy Melanin Sitcom Shows that were awesome and the best comedy sitcom shows to watched. In Television History🌹
Girlfriends was iconic 4 Black beautiful women doing it and relating to each other very closely .I've never seen another show comparable to Girlfriends .. .....
Fox and the WB used black shows in the beginning when they were new networks and paid them a lot less. And when they got big enough they cut the show's and started producing white sitcoms and paid them more money.
Imagine Fox doing Married with Children now??? And WB for me was cartoons Animaniacs etc, also the introduction of WayneHead, and Half and Half was a show I liked........watched Girlfriends has an adult.....yeah.....anyway have a great day
I really enjoyed girlfriends. It showed a diverse group of successful woman. Too many of the other shows on CW dipicted a reality not real to everyone. Not everyone has rich parents, luxary cars, and lives in luxury. These women showed that with hard work, and a great support system of friends you can accomplish great things. Girlfriends showed real like situations, and sadly it was probably just too real for some folks.
I’m 20 and I remember UPN ... when CW took over they put on white shows like smallville and supernatural which are cool shows but they got rid of all of the black shows to give us a bunch of mediocre shows at best
Why wont they leave the black shows? Smallville and supernatural are garbage. Most white ppl dont care what color the actors are! We just want some good tv!
They need to put girlfriends on Netflix or any other streaming service. I didn't watch upn that much as a kid. Only moesha I watched on there. I watched disney channel most of the time but I started watching girlfriends a few years after it ended. Loved it.
ilovelegos2000 I would love that , I used to watch girlfriends when I was younger . I’m 25 going on 26 and I feel I would have a better understanding and interest in the show now that I’m older
@@GlAMORCRySS totally couldnt really relate when I was younger I thought they were just crazy. Now that I Can relate, I kinda feel crazy about that too lol it's bittersweet how time flies. This is my year to turn 30.
We need Girlfriends back! I don’t care how - a movie, back on TV, a Netflix series (Hello Netflix, you love diversity right? You got the coins! Buy into this franchise! It’ll make you money!) I feel like women like the characters in Girlfriends need to be on screens now more than ever. Media has molded baller wives, bad girls club, LHH, and Instagram models to be the role models. And the hip hop music? Don’t even get me started. Yet black women are the most college educated group of people in America! And there are many professional, beauty, independent women both married and single living out their lives feeling about lost. Because we bare between the lines of not ethnic enough and not trendy enough. So yes, women like that standard need to be represented on media as such!
This was my show! Fine ass women of all shades & colors. Women from all walks of life. Women that had Brains to match their beauty. ALL OF THEM. Somebody give that man Kelsey Grammar his props for creating this fantastic show.
PREACH! This show could've easily pushed the negative stereotypes of black women but didn't. not Only that there were darkskin & lightskin main characters...ok Kelsey I c u boo! Lol
@ero120 SMH @ ME! DUH! I stand corrected. It IS Mara BROCK. W her fine ass. #BlackGirlPower Kelsey Was behind her though. Which was surprising to me when on air. Sad though. I never get likes. I actually have 54 bc of........ wow. Wonder if I change it to the rightful owner MARA BROCK AKIL would people Still be so kind.
Agreed! Until he mentioned Sex and the City, I never thought about how the two shows line up to each other as far as the personalities and accomplishments (or lack there of), of their main characters. It may explain why CW dropped them...hate to bring race into it, but its the reality of the industry.
Tyler Perry and Oprah have very profitable production companies that could easily make a "Girlfriends" movie. There is NO valid excuse for why this movie hasn't yet happened!
And when she left that show we never really seen her but in like 2 movies so she should of renewed the damn contract 🙄 I still have to watch reruns 🤦🏾♀️
The vibe of the show got better after she left though because the women grew in season 7 ultimately my favorite season and Joan finally met someone!! When it first came out I had to go to other people's houses to watch it because my town didn't get the CW for the first year but the CW sucks I wish it would have stayed upn!!
I honestly believe it was ratings that declined after she left the show. It just wasn't the same anymore after she left. I stopped watching it after a few post Toni episodes.
Jill Marie Jones abrupt departure changed the chemistry of the show. Things got weird with more focus being on Maya and Darnel "moving on up", Joan's dating situation got worse and worse, and Lynn was all over the place. That being said, I am totally here for a movie with all of the ladies.
Felicia Malone LoL you didn’t like the Maya and Darnell story lines?? I loved it, wasn’t a bad substitute at all. Even the William and Monica story lines filled in okay. Lol
@@RashonWill I just thought they put too much emphasis on their relationship. The focal point was always Joan and Tony with Maya and Lynn being side stories. I really liked William and Monica tho, way better than he and Yvonne. I'll watch the movie regardless. I hope it gets made.
No way.. I'm 69 blk f and I'm a die hard Sex in the City fan. I'm Carrie Charlotte Amanda and Samantha all rolled up in one. Lynn Toni Joan and Mya can't hold a candle to those New York ladies.

Yeah. That Part. Hahaha That man. People will always overlook the most important people in projects by dismissing the CREDITS. I grew up Reading all the names on all the shows!! I felt like you @ first when I peeped it on the forst episode. I am black. Yet I LOVED Frasier. I was a nerd & my Mother was always into cultured stuff & fine arts. I read dictionaries so the jargon & language used on Frasier was funny af to me. Especially matched w the chemistry. Great show. Hence why I knew Kelsey was gonna do his damn thing w the show. Made me proud that he fucked w US (black ppl) on that level. Shamee that the powers that be could not be stopped, & they all had to succumb to the inevitable. Imma begin writing the script for the 🎥
A "Girlfriends - the Movie" should be done! Bring Toni back, and Todd. What did she do when she moved to NY. Aaron comes back home, with PTSD, and him a Joan get married and begin a foundation to help children deal with parents that returned from war. Lynn with a great singing career and touring the world. Mya and Darnell adopt 3 siblings, and Jabari graduates from college with a Master's Degree in Biochemistry
@@kcoolmuziq look how they did John Amos in Good Times..black show with a strong father figure in home, Christian mother and they kill John off and had Esther marry an atheist..they just can't let us shine.
You gotta be careful how you move in Hollywood. Jill said she wanted to leave because she wanted to do movies. But I haven't seen her in anything but 35 and Ticking since the show ended. Just because you're ready doesn't mean its your time. The only one who has had success after the show was Tracey. Its sad how the show ended and i hope the other cast members are doing great as well ❤❤
I've seen both Jill Marie Jones and Persia White each in one TvOne original movie, and Golden Brooks was on Hollywood Divas (I think that was the name of the show), it was her, Paula Jai Parker, Elise Neal, Lisa Woo, and Countess Vaughn, but quite honestly, that reality show REALLY made me dislike Golden Brooks. Not sure if that's how she really is, but she came off HELLA bitchy and phony AF.
@@deeknits Hey Persia was also on Vampire Diaries. And Golden has done alot of t.v. work and reality T.V. I think Golden also read some fictional books on Audible but I'm not sure on that. Jill I dunno, I can't blame her for wanting to shot her shot but I wish we had heard more from her.
She's been in a good few. I remember the one where her abusive husband killed their children by dropping them out of the window. It was the most horrific scene.
Jill Marie Jones has been in approximately ten movies, other tv shows, and music videos. Check out her IMDb. Kimberly Elise was the actress in For Coloured Girls, not Jill Marie Jones but there was definitely a movie with a similar storyline with Jill Marie Jones. She played her role very well I just don't remember the name of it. EDIT: I made an error and corrected it. I think a lot of us agree she's a good actress and would like to see more of her.
I just finished watching Girlfriends for the first time since watching it back in 2008. It makes me so sad to know this show didn't get a proper ending but I recently watched an interview where all 4 actresses confirm that they're down to do a reboot or movie. Fingers crossed that they're able to do it!!
@Made from the dust of the ground lol...I was falling asleep, but it all about what going to them $$$$...Tyler is about himself, and he wouldn't do him justice...
Because it's not dysfuntional enough. Had it been anything else, with any kind of debauchery, people like them more than likely be quick to cut a FAT check.
They need to ask Regina King or Viola or Kerry Washington to back the film! They would be the best to do this female driven cast. Or better yet let the fans fund the film. I would be willing to invest!🙋🏽
It was rude and unfair. The show was good, the acting was good and the show was doing really well. Yet the network chose lesser shows . Shows that had weaker ratings ,and shows that’s were on for a lesser time and a weaker fan base.
Why can't the movie company behind "Girls Trip" make a "Girlfriends" movie? Or the movie company behind "Set It Off?" (was that from Queen Latifah's Flava Unit?) What about New Line Cinema? What about the movie studio(s) behind all of Ice Cube's "Friday" or "Barbershop" movies? I just don't understand why seemingly no movie studios want to make a "Girlfriends" movie when it was clearly a successful TV show.
She’s asking for 50-60 million. 🤷🏾♀️ Not counting people’s money, but a lot of these black celebs don’t have it like that. Things aren’t always what the appear to be.
Jules Winnfield pretty sure she figured it out it had an ending by the last comment. People really needs to stop answering questions or commenting once they’ve seen the commenter has been corrected or answered.
Brian Brown A Different World didn't end abruptly! They had a great ending letting us all know what was next in their lives. I wish they would do next generation ADW with their kids because Whitley was pregnant last 2 episodes.
Jasmine Guy was offered a spin-off with Kadeem, Cree, and Darryl. Their story could’ve continued for another four or five years but she chose not to do it. Her career hasn’t gone anywhere since then.
Cedrick said he didn't even know the Steve Harvey show was cancelled until they showed up for work and saw cake! Yet Friends show had bill boards and television announcements
I think that the show "Girlfriends" has probably resonated with many Black women in a way that no other show has before about black-female friendships. They represented love, support, loyalty and a dedication to a growing work in progress in their relationships with one another, as well as in marriage, motherhood and careers, etc. We, the audience, and the cast deserve closure, an ending that is befitting and deserving of the quality of artistry that these women gave the loyal viewers every week. And, as a black woman, in many instances they were speaking our truth, the good, the bad and the funny! The show can never be duplicated because the talent and chemistry of the cast was truly authentic! Not too many comedy shows can keep my attention for long at all! I love my "Girlfriends!"
Folks kill me leaving a show while it's hot. See how Friends, Seinfeld, Frasier, etc actors never left? The actors remained humble and an ensemble cast. Hell, some of them are STILL getting paid off residuals. "We" need to take heed. You become a part of a successful show, then all of a sudden you wanna quit, and go do Broadway? Have a seat.
Well for 1 when most actors do a gig they aren't planning on being there their whole career. They could already had plans on doing broadway or whatever they choose to move on from or the opportunity came up for them to do something different in their life so they choose to take it. Yeah YOU might love a show & want it to last forever but that's not always the case for the ppl that's ACTUALLY in the show. And 2 you can't compare to the other shows because not everything is the same behind the scenes plenty of ppl leave shows, this is nothing new

It seems like all of Mara Brock Akil's shows get treated like that cause The Game series finale was wack just like Girlfriends was, and Being Mary Jane didn't even get a series finale @ all.
Mitchell Jordan how would u know that unless you’re gay or a female then? You’re clearly not a female so does that mean you’re gay? However, I appreciated the show because it tackled black issues that are taboo. Things we don’t discuss amongst our own community because it’s embarrassing. I also liked the fact that blacks were being represented as successful and not poor but also real. If u have to be a woman or gay to see something other than sexuality then maybe I’m lost.

Personality too!
They did the wayan brothers the same way. Girlfriends was a great tv show. Beautiful, intelligent, successful women doing their thing.
True. The last show was a boxing match with Roy Jones Jr. Smh.
Jealousy
I have to admit I didn't think I'd miss Toni as much as I did. She really brought a lot to the show.
Thank You. Haven't seen Jill Marie Jones in anything since, even Golden Brooke and Tracey Ellis Ross was in videos.
Right??? I will laugh if there is a movie and she's not in it or has only minor role in it because of that...
That show was better than sex in the city. Still 1 of my favorites.
Oh hell yeah ! I totally agree !

Girlfriends was such an underrated program. UPN quietly was dishing out hits in the 90’s-mid 00’s.
Then, CW came...

Maybe in views but not Money ..... they were making Milliions in one episode..... Black actresses will never make that amount of money

I don't know about that. Black people are not enough to carry a show, we need white people. That is so true on so many levels
This show didn't get the credit it deserved.Showing black women in a positive light of course it would end like this.
CW Network only wanted shows that catered exclusively to white, middle- to upper-class teenagers.
I watched this show faithfully. It had great writing and a even better cast. I was a fan of The Game too. Gotta hand it to Mr. Grammar.

I feel like women like the characters in Girlfriends need to be on screens now more than ever. Media has molded baller wives, bad girls club, LHH, and Instagram models to be the role models. And the hip hop music? Don’t even get me started. Yet black women are the most college educated group of people in America! And there are many professional, beauty, independent women both married and single living out their lives feeling about lost. Gofundme the movie...
Almond Summers , let's call Tyler too 🤗
Yes would definitely be an excellent investment...I'm in👋
Til this very day, I love girlfriends!! 1 of my absolute favorite shows. It's hilarious & stands the test of time.
Jenn Ziff Thanks. Happens. Great
It was rude and unfair. The show was good, the acting was good and the show was doing really well. Yet the network chose lesser shows . Shows that had weaker ratings ,and shows that’s were on for a lesser time and a weaker fan base.
Exactly. How dare we be decent people....
Tyler perry also could jump in
Probably because it's been too long. I'd definitely watch it but maybe if a movie came out 10 years ago it would've been better.
She’s asking for 50-60 million. 🤷🏾♀️
Not counting people’s money, but a lot of these black celebs don’t have it like that. Things aren’t always what the appear to be.
@@Kangman02 Unless his name is saturated in the script with a bunch of prison-muscle trade, he does not care.
@@Mytime153 My thoughts exactly.
Never done this to sex and city
But because it a black series just cut it without goodbye
Sex and the City was on HBO, that network does things differently than a smaller Network like UPN.
Oh stop it. MANY MANY shows have been cancelled without warning and/or without a proper ending. Look it up. It wasn't because it was a black show!
Girlfriends ended just like A Different World ... abruptly! No explanations just fans trying to figure out what happened and being upset.
ADW was cancelled because of the LA riots episode. Also, the network had a huge issue with Sistah Souljah having a guest appearance.
And they had a series finale on a different world.. It may have sucked but at least they got one ..
Was a great show but this is how all Black sitcoms are treated
I guess...this show ended really abruptly, like I am still upset
Every, single time.
Never a proper closure so wrong
Cedrick said he didn't even know the Steve Harvey show was cancelled until they showed up for work and saw cake! Yet Friends show had bill boards and television announcements
Well I guess the CW exes learned their lesson. WOW!
dionne damn that's harsh and that was an entertaining show
dionne dont expect steve harvey to have an opinion on that he has grandkids to feed 🙄🙄
I LOVE THE STEVEY HARVEY SHOW!!!
Way better than his talk show. But not more than family fued
dionne black shows are ok like 3 seasons then they get boring
So do Joan and Toni ever become friends again? I have been itching to know for over 10 years
You are not the only one
I hope they didn't become friends again. Joan did so much for Tony ..and Tony was such a self centered narcissist.
Yea before she and her husband moved away
Joan and Toni never reconciled.
I used to love watching this show. It reminded me of Living Single in a way... just seeing black women 4front not to mention their women I love women
And 2 you can't compare to the other shows because not everything is the same behind the scenes plenty of ppl leave shows, this is nothing new
OMGosh I just realized that. So true!
@@tiaraw872 I'm talking success here dear. For every ONE person that "makes" it going solo, there are 20 people that do NOT. Learn that there are two sides to every coin okay? Not every differing opinion is an invitation for argument. Learn to co-exist on a higher level.
@@liona6770 You are so busy looking for an argument that you can't see that we basically said the same thing. That means that you are limited. Which is typical.
👏👏👏
I recently started watching this show again and I still love it... It's unfortunate when black sitcoms that have great runs just end abruptly.. Look at The Wayans Brothers... If there was a movie made or another show made, I'd tune in for sure...
The show never gets old. It was realistic.
Tony was my favorite. She's beautiful.
Victoria Welch No Not. Hi. Thanks
Loved that show. Got a chance to see young woman at the time that were my age group. So mad it ended the way it did.
I was obsessed with that show
Officiating Born it ended badly but had a good run.
It seems like all of Mara Brock Akil's shows get treated like that cause The Game series finale was wack just like Girlfriends was, and Being Mary Jane didn't even get a series finale @ all.
She is black and a woman, it's expected unfortunately
Facts af. Great observation. I was pissed how they did Being Mary Jane.
nikki aviv you’ll be waiting forever. It got canceled. They are supposed to be doing a 2 hour movie the end it. That’s what I heard.
jojobaby 2223 being Mary Jane wasn’t really a good unless you is gay or a female no disrespect
I absolutely LOVED girlfriends!!!!! I watched it everyday it was on!
I did too...#LOVEDIT
fale stoery
YES! this show was the shit I miss it ... middle school memories for me 😊
Even reruns
Shouts out to Fraiser for recognizing the potential in this show and shouts out to Mara Brock-Akil for creating it and shouts out to you for this dope vid brothaman ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
Reboot for sho!!!!! This was one of the best comedy sitcoms of four black, beautiful, smart, and sexy girlfriends that had real life problems but mainly with black men. This was the show to watch then, I wouldn't miss it for the world!!! YES, BRING IT BACK!!!!!..
I really did enjoy "Girlfriends" back in the 00s.... didnt make me any less manly... sad that it ended abruptly... a movie would bring necessary closure.
That is always the way they do shows with Black cast.
yep living single, wayons roc
i fell in love with Maya all over again when I re-watched this on netflix recently. She's the most beautiful of the 4 main stars and most interesting imo. All of the characters were great though. Lynn should have been giving more development though.
YES YES YES comeback, where is Tyler, Oprah, Danny Glover, where is the United Front!!!! People of color support Your Own!!!!
oprah prefer to do a reality show about lindsay lohan
Reboot the show with the original cast members..
Jay Mac I agree
It wouldn't be the same.
Not toni 💁 forget her acting like big movies was calling her right then smh its so many ppl who do shows and movies at the same time shit even two movies at a time. Im w Tracee, it was rude and unfair
We just need a movie like sex and the city did
Too many reboots. I think this series deserve a movie to tie up the ending.
Its was bigger than sex and the city. That was the problem...
It was not. Sex and The City ended while Girlfriends were still on and aired on HBO. The CW was being racist and wanted to end all Black shows. Leave SATC out of this.
@@jamesadams4514 ohk. I see where your going with this and I mean no harm. Lol. Yes, CW didn't keep it on because the show wasn't Guaranteed another season. Super funny move knowing the show had, or must I say, "HAS" a huge fan base tuning in everyday even during reruns. So why dismiss a guarentee money maker!?! And unapologetically give no proper ending!?!?
From the beginning of the creators journey knocking door to door to have on air, those presented with the show, replied with no interest I'm guessing because based on SUCCESSFUL BLACK WOMEN!!
BxJayify that is the true tea of it all. they gave Sex and The City a proper ending because they were WHITE women and then two movies that were terrible. I admit that after Toni left the show wasn’t as funny any more anyways but overall it was a true representation of Black women. They covered topics that Living Single did not and deserved the proper ending and a movie. Which is why I’m glad there are shows like Insecure properly representing Black women today.
what are you talking about sex and the city was first aired in 1998
@@jamesadams4514 yes I don't look to discredit sex and the city. No! They're the pioneers of life in the city as WOMEN! I don't judge on color but it seems some do...
I also think they "the CW" were Rude and unfair for hiw it ended mid season. It was a total success of o show. Because of this fans and cast were left hanging. DO A GIRLFRIEND'S MOVIE!!! I'D GO SEE IT
Akil is a beautiful woman.
Adeili Maya they are all beautiful!
@@akvalues They are, but you kindof expect the actresses to he beautiful. Its an unexpected, pleasant surprise to see that the writer is just as beautiful or more so than "The Talent"!
Yuuuuuuuup
Beautiful and smart
Yes and immediately reminded me of Angela Bassett.
I would love to see Girlfriends come together as a movie it was a very sophisticated feminine soft wonderful approach on the other side of black women I know I would support it if it came out as a movie and kudos to the writer and developer of this program I never missed an episode I'm now 62 years old I actually miss that program and I wish the cast and everybody involved the best of all things the very best of all things coming into this new year
This show was brilliant in every way! I'm so sad that it ended.
Its strange, i grew up watching shows like Living Single and Girlfriends, the Parkers, etc. It wasnt geared towards me but they were so enjoyable.
I love The Parkers. Now that show had a show ending.
All of the wholesome good black sit coms and shows in general always gets shut down because people aren’t willing to show black people in a positive light. I’m just saying
There's this strange "Reboot Syndrome" shows are going through. As much as I loved "Girlfriends" its okay to leave it in the past. Not totally opposed to a movie, but definitely not a reboot of the show cause it wouldn't be the same as before.
💯💯same shit with Martin. fans would be greedy to the point where they start to regret even wanting a reboot 😅
Charlamander Blaze I think it’s because there is such a lack of great black shows today that aren’t corny. I think that’s what’s causing all these reboots. Even in the music industry as well. Everybody is wanting “that old thang back” because the stuff that’s being played and shown now is just so Wack! 😩 it makes you really miss the nostalgia of black culture when it was so organic
@@ariyaletwitty23 I agree. I hear so many people talking about how much they love blackish. I tuned out 1 minute into the first episode after Anthony Anderson said, "my beautiful mixed wife." At that moment, I knew that show would be of no interest to me. 😂
I just didn't like how much hype the show got for being "for black people", then two sentences into the whole series they already started praising mixed women. I know, I didn't give the show a chance, but still.
+Rouge R.
i feel u but also think about this, the show is called "Blackish" what do that mean i take it as its called "Blackish" to mean that evan tho they are all black the ish part means that be cuz they are black whit money an live in the suburbs an not in the inercity or hood that u can call the "Blackish because the are not on the street corners talking "Jive an saying give me five my man" an stuff like that, so to me thats what the ish part in Blackish means to me...
@@rr.5205 Ok I'm glad I'm not the only one going bananas & Bending over Backwards for Black-ish..Ijs
I could literally binge watch girlfriends on the weekends when I was off.
One of the best shows I've EVER watched. Loved every episode and all the characters are still so dear to my heart! I pray that one day they continue in one way or another. Either way they will be forever in my heart. Thank you for all the laughs along with the definition of TRUE friendships!!
Black series are always looked down on
they are looked down on or frowned upon because a lot of the writing is crap living single was another good series .
Moesha is another one that deserves a proper ending, because it ended on a cliffhanger. Although with Lamont Bentley dead, we may never if Myles will ever be saved or who was pregnant.
👏🏾👏🏾faccs
This show was great..all beautiful woman, God bless girlfriends,my favorite ..Tony, Mya, Joan, Lynn
My dad used to love Girlfriends lol
Same here, a few weeks ago we found a dvd set at Walmart and he said he missed the show
So sad but I LOVE the Game so I gotta be grateful Mara had time to create it lol
I enjoyed the game, too. I loved me some Pookie! Every family has a Pookie they can call on to get things done.
The Game was great the first three seasons...Once tia left and the laugh track was put in, the show got stupid
Storm Monroe they took the laugh track out actually, it was there until pooch and tia left really. Just no laugh track at all . Hard to tell when a joke was made but then again it wasn’t really that funny after season 4
@@StormMonroe not to mention, the whole dymamic of the shoe changed once it went to BET
Storm Monroe She was on the show until Season 5 and the show always had a laugh track, except the sixth and seventh season when they abandoned it.
I didn’t even want a proper ending, I just wanted Joan and Toni to makeup🥺
Don’t you think their friendship was toxic?
@@jaylove1931 yeah, a lil bit.
I hated how they made Joan later on
