Nice build! I did something similar to my Nissan Sentra. I removed the back seats and was amazed that a twin size mattress fit perfectly, but I've considered a build like yours to open up more space. I also like how you set up the curtains - I'm going to do that with mine. Great video! Thanks for sharing.
@@mikebikercanada yea, the lower is one piece. the upper is something like 70/30-80/20. and the larger section is behind the driver, which sort of negates the idea of using the passenger side for permanent 'length'( being 6' can have its downfalls i suppose), unless i want to remove the rear seating completely. 2013 ford fusion. ✌️🤟
I hear ya. I’m 6ft as well. One modification I might make to my build is cutting my platform a foot or so from the head. And install hinges. So that when not sleeping I can flip up that portion of the platform and be able to slide my passenger seat further back. With my current set up the seat is full forward with no room for a front passenger to put their legs. If you did that you could build your set up behind the driver seat and use the 70% pass through and leave the smaller back rest installed. Sucks that either way you must remove the entire bottom bench. Maybe you could grab a second bottom bench from a fusion at the scrap yard and try cutting it down to custom build a small 30% bench for a rear passenger ?
This is one of the best versions of this setup that I've seen. Well done sir! Practical. No complex construction, woodworking skills required. Stealthy as well. Question: Do you run your vehicle at night? How do you stay cool with draining the battery? Thanks!
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful! I have mesh window covers I use on my windows to keep them open at night. And that’s all. It does get warm. But this summer I’m thinking of investing in a battery bank and buying some fans to help circulate the air.
I would sun and air the plywood and adhesive for a few days. But yeah, this is really nice! One way of looking at living in your car, it’s an act of defiance. You skip a lot of B$ and use your labor for yourself!
