I did that too in the beginning of the year, but it was annoying when I did have to empty the shavings (first world problems!) but I ended ip keeping it for a backup if I don’t like this one. I have new teacher trainings today so I’m going to see if any of them need a pencil sharpener because it still works so well!

My bins I use for my library are the mini sterilite crates from Walmart (they're on sale right now for $1.49) and I use the sterilite purple lock top bins from target for my student supplies! I also have black book bins from walmart that I can use for student book bins if needed this year, since my desks do not have storage underneath them. For my mailboxes, I use black sterilite crates and my master copies are all organized in binders! I actually don't get any bins from Amazon and going into my third year teaching, I actually don't need very many more bins thank goodness!
I used disposable clear plastic cups with a bendy pencil as the straw and stuck a birthday sticker, bookmark, and bracelet inside. I use a piece of white tissue paper in the top of the dome lid of the cup to look like whipped cream and I set it on their desk on their birthday!
my sharpener did the same so I taped the sides of the shavings collector to hold it in place

What are birthday cups?
