I'm glad he has pop as a coach and Tim as a mentor.. the kid is one of a kind.
Don’t forget 3 time defensive player of the year Gobert. He’s been tutoring him for a long time.
This kid is the chosen one
@@noyou113 great point
@@hc8655don't disrespect the real " The Chosen One"
Don't act like he just started his career, the kid has been playing professional basketball in a fiba style of basketball that leaves less spaces especially french top league who is very physical more than many others europeans leagues and that since he was 16, he's like Luka few years ago he's much advanced than a player who came from the American youth development system.
he's 7'4 luka was advanced hes a alien
And? Lol
Wemby isn't changing the NBA, he IS the NBA. He's a point guard in a 7 foot 4 inch body. Unstoppable
A different sport is crazy, he definitely playing basketball and he does it fluidly at his size. He doesn’t look awkward at anything he does.
I mean his defence is his special power
He is the best shot-blocking prospect to enter the NBA in a long time.
Kid is going to be a monster no doubt.
As a Jazz fan, I learned that blocking shots doesn’t win games.
@@bradleyjohnson6107 bro😭💀
Newsflash: Being tall makes a difference in basketball. Having skill and being tall...good lord. Hopefully he holds up--injury seems likely with that frame. But his mechanics are good, so here's hoping he's durable.
You should see his flexibility video. The kid does the work. So if injury befalls him, he did everything to prevent it.
Imo I think he should find a way to just avoid plays that could injure him, him and curry aren’t the same in biomechanics, but learning from him how to avoid ankle injuries would already help. But then there’s avoid actual foot injuries which idk how he would avoid. I’m pretty sure every 7’3” player or taller throughout history has almost always had a foot injury rather than any other injury that leads to constant problems and ultimately a early retirement. So hopefully him and the spurs are finding some way to avoid the very possible foot injury that’s has happened to all his predecessors.
I’m really hoping he stays healthy since I wasn’t a hater, but not someone riding the hype, and after seeing his interviews I really hope out of most players under the age of 25, he succeeds.
he played all games when he's playing in a league in France just a year ago
I thought he was “Shawn Bradley “ but NO his body is actually closer to a Young Kareem. Yao Ming & Ralph Sampson already had solid bodies but I think the weight wasn’t proportionate. I think at that height , body parts and how much they actually weigh Matters. Kareem had bigger legs and glutes with a skinny top frame. But I think Victor has the advantage in that he’s sort of Light all around and everything is proportionate with
with exception of his long arms.
Kristaps is also similar body type but he had much more weight and he’s legs was tree trunks compared to Victors. When he suggested that these fat Americans “skinny up” I think he was actually alluding to something bigger. We see Joel and Zion and how much being overweight can cause injuries. This dude probably got scientist studying his body. He should be Good but we will see.
Zach Lowe said it best when Victor came with the Metropolitan 92 against the G-League players, he is going to change the geometry of the game.
Cant say enough how perfect it is he's in San Antonio. Half the organizations in the league, if he was drafted after a record like they had last year, would be rolling him out there almost every game, 30+ minutes, out of the gate, expecting him alone to raise them up.
I never seen a player like him
I feel like I’m watching a different sport😂😂😂😂
she is straight up annoying and almost always adds ZERO to any conversation
One thing he will do is officially kill small ball and im glad
Nuggets already did that
@@Shortballa11 not enough because the warrior's are about to learn the hard way even though the Lakers showed them how small they were in the playoffs
Amen! League is getting bigger.
Nuggets, Lakers, Wemby..Cavs, Bucks and even Wolves took their bet on big ball. Those teams are head of the curve, people just don't realize it.
He has no post up game all he does is taking the jump shots and threes and he's the poor rebounder for his size. He wont change anything, he's Porzingis type of a player, that is going to be his career.
@@slavisakmikic9547 he literally put on 10 pounds since the draft. He's only 19. Give him some time. He's clearly getting the best training and development
Chiney said it best he's a rookie and will miss a lot not knowing the players he will be up against yet but growth is definitely in the horizon as he seems like a quick study and under Pop and other legends there in SA he'll be fine. I do think him putting the ball on the floor will be a challenge for him against quick handed defenders.
He’s the best rookie basketball has ever seen
@@grandmenhir160Possibly, little early to say that but he's deft up there his potential & upside is ridiculous absurd. He's the definition of a generational talent.
Victor can eat solely in midrange. Get to the elbow spots, square up the defender then shoot over every defender. His midrange looks better than his 3ball. That midrange looks too easy for him..
@attyfernandoggy just like your lady told me last night
...Yes size does matter
😎
Man, just ruined my day when she said Wemby was not playing today.😭
Literally
Cause them rockets kids dirty …
@@lifeofholy Maybe just Dillon
He’s playing today tho😌😌
These ladies are some of the best analysist in the business! They all have done work in the nba and know what they are talking about.
Malika Andres is awful
😂😂😂
Girls don’t know ball
Strongly agree. Ros is so good wow
Bring back Jalen. They don’t even have one guy on the panel…
America ball players can learn a lot from Wemby by spending time working on your craft
Oh please, he obviously came to America because he knows where the best competition and money is! He hasn't won anything in the NBA, so relax.
@@xdabeast6002 I’m very relaxed bub.
He’s 7 foot bro lol
How about French ball players can learn a lot from wemby by coming to USA u can make wayyyy more money
@@xdabeast6002America has better athletes. Europe has more fundamentally sound players. I’m an American and it’s just the truth. Those foreign kids don’t pick up a lot of bad habits the American players do. They’re all fundamentals over there
I didn’t think he would be good very fast. I was wrong
From my hometown of Nanterre, I'm gonna have to start watching basketball now! 😂
WE LOVE THAT ROSE 🌹!! That should be Vic’s Signature Logo !
His passing ability is the only thing I’m surprised by ..he’s really smart
Viktor is an exceptional incomparable complete remarkable basketball athlete as young as he is one the great players already.
Wembanyama can cross up and pull up like Kevin Durant, Block like Rudy Gobert, pass well and he is only a rookie! Did i mention he is 7 foot 5! As he gets stronger and in NBA Shape he will be Unstoppable! It will literally take two or three players to slow him down and the other rookies on the Spurs can shoot! Spurs have two or three new Players who will have a Huge Impact now and in the long run! Happy to see him Play with the Greatest Coach of All-Time! He also drive relentlessly like Giannis Antetecounmpo. My Favorite players are Giannis Antetecounmpo, LeBron James, Steph Curry, & Victor Wembanyama. Two are young and LeBron is 39, Steph is 35. Everytime Greats retire another Out of this World Great Appears!
“Is that his name?”
😂😂😂
He swatted Wiggins, Klay, and Steph all the same game, and a couple of them were 3’s, that is scary!
Jene’ Is so fine However I Have The Most Respect For Her Intelligence Of The Game Because Of Her Physical Experience……..The NBA Is Not As Physical As It Use To Be So That Part Will Not Be Tested
Oh brother 🙄
Chiney
I want physicality back in the NBA
Are you talking about Chiney? Who is Jene’?
@@lionelgrisbane-ud87 Thankyou
Looking like hes puttinh weight on already! Hes gonna be good no matter what. Just hope for no injuries
It’s crazy to think some the best NBA players now are from overseas 😅
Jokic
Giannis
Embiid
Doncic
Gilgeous Alexander
Giddey
Murray
Sabonis
Now Wemby 😮😮😮
No
How do u list giddy and not wiggins 😂who’s miles better than him
Semantics, I know...but Gilgeous Alexander and Murray are just from over the border...
@@DanielRamirez-iq3wv technically ur right😂 Canada in some cities is driving distance too the US so “overseas” is a lil wild
GIDDEY????
I feel like I'm watching a different ESPN
They're called women. They don't bite...unless you're lucky.
@@DanielRamirez-iq3wv 🤦🏽♂️
The league is going to have to adjust! You are going to have to double or triple team him, which will leave the perimeters open! If he gets as jacked as Giannis, he will be unstoppable under pops guidance! The league is not ready!
Totally agree with you, and he is just 19!! Imagine him in 3 years! Crazy
I really want him to focus on midrange.... Just one dribble pull up nobody guarding that
He has the tools and therefore a chance to be the goat. Taller KD that potentially can study and mimic Jokers game, itd be such an advantage.
He is not going to play like Jokic, he is far faster and taller. But he will get assists. All of a sudden people saying KD...no, he is much more athletic and creative, much more of a lob and dunk threat, a much bigger problem on defense. He can dunk it on your head, but he can also finish at the rim like a guard, with the left handed scoop shot.
Looking like the updated modern day wilt chamberlain in these highlights
The glazing 😅😅
Let's not forget about Ralph Samson. But this player, is something special.
Wemby the Old-school of Ralph Samson of Houston Rockets
Size especially length with talent matters in basketball. With Wemby's size just having a good shooting motion is huge. Wemby can be an all star if he can just shoot 75%+ from the FT line. Yao Ming could not jump and was the slowest player in the league but he had a good shooting touch. Wemby will also get better as his teammates and coaches learn how to play with him. All the timing, running thru and fast break lanes are all slightly different because he is so exceptional and they have never played with a player like him. They will find that if he is on this side of the court just go to this spot and he can pass over even 7 foot players.
Imagine the hype if Wilt Chamberlain were coming out of Overbrook High today...
I like the part how they described what we were seeing in the highlights.
He couldn't have started with a better coach than Greg Popovich
where the men analysts?
Rose and Chiney is what we deserve but will never get.
He's a phenomenal talent, with crazy length. But the kid has played 3 preseason games. Can we PLEASE wait until he does well in the regular season before we start GLAZING him over every single play?
S/o to this NBA crew 💯
Beta!
Don’t watch NBA at all really, but I took this guy in round 9 in fantasy cuz of hype. Hope this guy is as good as everyone says lol
Finally someone who can pass bron in points 😳
That flower mic got me.
Why did Ramona Shelburne tell that lie? Victor Wemby is not the 1st guy his size with that type of skillset and athleticism. No I'm not even referring to Kristaps Porzingis who came before Wemby. I'm referring to 7'4 RALPH SAMPSON who was actually just as athletic, but stronger. He had handles too. Obviously, he wasn't shooting 3s or had a stepback, but his athletic ability at his size at both ends of the court was the 1st of its kind. If she had said Wemby is the 1st since Ralph Sampson then that would've been more accurate. No respect for legends of the past, smh! Yall need to watch his old highlights to get my point. He played with Hakeem the Dream for awhile before injuries cut short his Hall of Fame career. He did play in the NBA Finals once, in 1986 but lost to the Celtics. Btw, it was his buzzer beater that knocked the Lakers out in the Western Conference Finals. Ralph had a jumpshot, he just didn't shoot 3s.
Imagine Zion Williamson in San Antonio Spurs
No thanks - A Spurs fan
Imagine him actually being on the court first 😂
He will not last 24 hours, spurs culture require smart and humble hard working people. Everything that Zion is not
I still don’t know what has he done in two games to make you “SHOCKED”???????
Then you didn't watch the games. Uhm, calling for the lob at the three point line, and going and dunking it. The left handed scoop shot at the rim around Chet. Between the legs fast and smooth while attacking to the charity stripe and then stopping and popping like an elite guard. Getting beat on defense and still blocking the shot. Stripping the ball for a steal from way behind the other guy. The speed, athleticism, skill, of a good NBA 6'4" guard in a body a foot taller.
It's preseason
Hopefully he stays healthy and doesn’t turn into another KP even though KP is really good, but Wemby has potential to be All NBA
What are they talking about ?
You are amazed by a french PRODUCT, not by 3 months of PRACTICE in the USA ...
He learned all this fundamentals in France.
Wish they had an actual nba player on this panel
ESPN coverage is getting pretty tired. I'm all for women broadcasters but they should have at least one former NBA player on any panel about the NBA.
Still just one of five players on the court.
If injury comes to him, hope he's already have 6 straight rings
....if he can stay healthy , that's the tweet. hes probably going to have a good career.
kid @Romelle just like your lady told me last night
Size does matter!
😎
This is awesome!
bol bol walked so Wemby could run
NBA Today sound crew took the day off. Geez.
Wemby has twice the potential of Stephen Curry it’s crazy
All four of these women do a better job of describing Wemby than Richard Jefferson did just two days ago. This guy doesn't need to develop a low post game, as Jefferson argued. He already has a bag so deep, nobody knows what he's doing next. Try to guard that, RJ.
He doesnt need to, but it would help a ton
All great players have a low post game unless you curry
@@kristianpomida8259 A ton? You mean so the Spurs can use him like Jokic or Duncan? That would be a criminal use of Wemby's talents, IMO. He needs to move without the ball, face up, take guys off the dribble. Basically, a more explosive and quicker version of Durant...
I love the women in sports broadcasting what an breath of fresh air
Let's wait till he gets thru his first season but he looks good
Woah, so that young kid is practicing offense, just like normal, right? THEN you're telling me he starts doing the same thing, only with DEFENSE!?!? That is so cool but also frickin' so nuts, too. Ya know, I think most players probably just assume it's prohibited and don't give it a second thought
Edit: I've been researching pretty much nonstop for the last 48 hours, and after a bunch of twists and turns, multiple dead-ends, and countless roadblocks, I found out it's actually totally legal to practice defense (as long you're officially active on a current NBA roster, of course)
3:17 they’re already trying to plant seeds for him to go to a bigger market. Why can’t good players just be in small markets sometimes 😂?
He's a 19 year old 7-4 Kobe
I suggest the opposing teams find a 7 footer Rodman..and lets see what happens (if they find one). 😁
ESPN, plz get new ppl on air again. Those lay offs really killed the network
f******ts overload 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Could you imagine Victor and Steph on the same team if GS breaks up??
The guy has the wingspan of eight feet 🦶 to block always beyond hell. This is unacceptable height that nba must have issues to stop 🛑 bringing giraffes 🦒 into this game. There are rules and nba fans wants to limit an abnormal height into the league period.????.😢😮😅😮😢😂😢😅.?????.
KD did this 😂 these tall kids are skilled
This is the preseason ! most players 99 procent are still on vacation. Until december we will see, but PLEASE dont get injured i hope the coach let him on the bench to build muscles !!!! NBA season and this stupid las vegas cup are long !!!
This guy is going to be the basketball's Ohtani.
No EX NBA as player as a NBA analyst ,now thats ridiculous
Ralph Samson from the 80s is probably the poor man's version
I thought this was a cooking tv program
Wemby moved better than KD.
I don’t get it is he not suppose to work on his defense that’s literally what every player does . The glazing is on another level 😂😂😂
Bro he taller and moves better than KD this is unreal
I gotta find me a woman over 7 foot 😂😂😂
Fr
I need to be very physical with him because he's too tall. If that's not allowed, he could possibly put up 75% field goal in his prime.
It’s weird to see all female cast
remember when Porzingus was the unicorn
When Embiid, and Giannis come to town....
Who gave my girl flowers… watch out to every did dat. Leave her alone
“The crew” Cuts to 4 women…
Ha, he's not 'The Chosen One'; he's 'The One'.
The old saying is true again: can’t teach height!
You mean he is "out" of the matrix.
With that body he will suffer from injuries for sure, they all do with that build!
Yes, dude is really tall and very skilled. But the exaggerated praise is too much. "Transcendent", "The Matrix", "Unscoutable". Let's give this guy some time on the court. Give us some time to see him in an actual NBA game - or even better - a playoff game. And please, give the mega-hype some rest.
Are you blind? He was bodying chet and Jalen Williams
How is commenting on ESPN's overhype an indicator of one's basketball skill? And how is it hate? Clearly, you should get off the court and go to the library. Read a book. It may help you be able to actually interpret what people are saying.@@jean-patricepaluku4754
