    I have the Reolink fisheye and I sealed up a few parts of it and put it outside under the eave of the garage for a few weeks now. It’s been in high humidity of 91% and it’s still working great. As long as you don’t get water on it and seal up those small parts apart from the sd card location which I taped up with duct tape for easy access. It works great

    Reolink seems to continue having issues with its firmware. I had a similar accumulating delay issue with the WiFi doorbell, in my case for audio only, until I switched from RTSP to RTMP. This made the delay consistent. I wonder whether the RTMP stream in your case would also help. C'mon Reolink, you are so close to greatness!

    @TheHookUp - Hello, first time viewer of your channel here. Good reviews! :) My question: What about an outdoor camera that stares at the full sky, especially to see satellites and meteors? Is color at night a realistic thing to ask for? Also, please note that your talking speed interferes with your enunciation, which at one critical point made it impossible for me to tell whether you said "can" or "can't".

    It's always a trade-off between higher resolution and lower sensitivity, all other things equal. Smaller pixels on the detector mean fewer photos per pixel and lower S/N ratio. Some sensor manufacturers have higher sensitivity processes when fabricating detectors that can offset this, but of course, these alternatives are more expensive. This is why I cringe when I see ever MORE MEGAPIXELS!! in ads for the next phone.. at some you have all the resolution you need and I'd rather not give up on the low-light performance.
    Another great review video and I continue to appreciate the methodical approach that you use when making these. Always worth the time to see what you've got to say!

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  9 месяцев назад +2

      I'd have expected the Hikvision to have performed the best then, since the sensor was pretty large (6MP 1/1.8"). Lots of variables to consider.

    I could do a epson or jvc or Sony but I do not want a huge projector hanging over my head while sitting in second row. What is the best small/life style projector out there that I can build a shelf for from my ceiling so it can sit on it? I’m also thinking of going with an ALR screen. have you had experience with the Unifi AI 360? how does it compare to the Reolink FE-P?

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  8 месяцев назад +1

      Quality is similar, but I don't think they are competing products. If you are using UniFi protect you would buy the AI360 because it's your only option. If you are using any other NVR or camera system you wouldn't buy the AI360 because it's not ONVIF compliant.

    Did the Hikvision have the same IR reflection issue with the other adjacent cameras turned off? Looks like it's coming from the IR emitters from the other cameras.

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  8 месяцев назад

      It was coming from the reflectors of the other emitters, the IR from the other cameras was off. So basically you'll need to make sure that any reflective surface is X distance away from the hikvision to avoid reflections on the cover.

    This is so confusing when you think of what you would call a 360 degree action camera. These are all just 180 degree fisheye at the most, right? You're only seeing the front or bottom view. With a 360 degree action camera, you are able to look behind or above as well.

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  9 месяцев назад +1

      I think the reasoning is 180 degree horizontal FoV cameras are called "180 degree panoramic cameras", while these have 180 horizontal and 180 vertical, so they call them 360 degree.
