Thanks for this material, it helps to explain a little how I see the world without eyeglasses to someone who has good eyesight. I’m a happy owner of eyes with both myopia (-5.5 and -4.5) and astigmatism (-2.0 and -3.5). Generally speaking, everything is a blur without eyeglasses; with them it’s much better, still not up to 100%, but good enough.
Love the videos, great to understand more and help explain to others. Is there a chance of making a video about being both short and longsighted? I have this (plus astigmatism!) which always raises eyebrows with the optometrists! Be good to explain this to my family
Was it a POV video? I made one about presbyopia not too long ago, many people confuse long-sightedness (hyperopia) to presbyopia so I’m wondering if it was that!
@@AntonioTheOptom I don't remember seeing one about hyperopia per se, but I do know that a lot of people just assume it means not being able to see close-up. Actually many of us can if we really make an effort. However, I need a bit of a plus to see distance well and a video explaining that would be really great.
Thanks for the suggestion, from my experience anything beyond -5 all looks the same. Just a complete blur. I find -2 to be a lot more common hence why I showed -2 here
I think the reason why it's mostly the same is because phone cameras have a different focal length or something like that. I did an experiment with my glasses where I put the -1.5 lens over my phone camera and made it clear like that, then took the lens away and the image was still clearer with it than with me looking with my other eye (-0.5) without glasses. So maybe look into this more, although I haven't been able to find anything about this either. Edit: You not only have to look at the distance where it starts becoming blurry, but also the intensity of the blur. I guess that's how it works, fortunately I don't experience it enough to notice it.
This was a really useful video to explain to my other half whatI see withiut glasses or contact lenses in. I especially like the bits where the close objects were in focus. You should have done more of that IMO, as rhat vividly shows Myopia to people with 20:20 vision.
Great video! I've got astigmatism and myopia, and I'm so grateful for my contact lenses and glasses. As an aside, that hippo must've been a calf or maybe a pygmy hippo
Thanks for these examples and for giving the exact diopter. I can tell you that a +2 has hardly any effect on me so these examples are really useful. Under good lighting I am able to see far distance completely clearly with stupidly strong plusses as I squint very easily in bright light (always have). Is this normal?
I have both. Myopia and an astigmatism. It’s such a joy 😏
Me too. 😖
Me too and now I need reading glasses. So much fun!
Me too. I feel your pain.

Thanks for showing off the zoo - going to get my updated glasses prescription for my oblique astigmatism in a week or two!

Hey yo Antonio, I remember you've made videos showing Longsightedness, I'm sure of it.
I'm just having trouble finding them, my friend is interested.

@@AntonioTheOptom Could be yeah, I remember car ones and I think on foot ones. Reading signs and such
Me too actually.

-2.00 is really pathetic, make sure you also do some videos of big boy numbers like -10.00

Hello
I am currently diagnosed with minus 5 myopia (age 21)
Should i wear my glasses all the time or when i need it?
I would wear it all the time personally
Is it possible for severe myopia to eventually lead to blindness
Yes, in very severe cases, myopia may lead to being legally blind
@@KFlowersKH How?
at some point the myopia gets so bad, that you literally cannot see without comically thick glasses (that's very rare to manufacture)
Could you please simulate my case? I have -22 of myopia and -8 of astigmatism 😅
906사냥 부탁드립니다^^
😂😂😂😂 네!
i have physical polyopia this aint shiet
