Great to see you again Jim. Wishing you and Louie a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy 2025. Looking forward to seeing more projects from you.
Good to see you, Jim out and about. Hope you have a merry Christmas and hang in there. I love your old 5556. Osmo can’t wait to see it when you get it out this summer.
Hello Jimbo. Been watching your videos for along time now and I have subscribed to your blog keep up with your great videos you have a very beautiful and special little friend and that's your cat it looks like a blue Russian cat anyway I have two cats that are special to me I have a gray cat like he's a blue Russian cat and I have a ginger cat aswell they are very good companions anyway I have spoken to much already I just wanted to say to you to have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year and looking forward to seeing more of your videos all the best and stay safe blessings from Denis at Australia Queensland far North Queensland the tablelands 😊
Hi Jim, good to see you up and about! That roof was a major project, I'd need some time off too. To figure out if it's the alternator or a timing belt pulley, take off the alternator drive belt and run the engine. If it still chirps, it's something the timing belt drives, if it's gone it's something the regular belt drives.
Hey there Jim, add one more person from Ky that watches but doesn’t comment usually. I would need a long rest also after a roof job that you completed by yourself. Hat’s off to you, one hell of a good job
Merry Christmas Jim and Louie. Enjoy your well deserved rest, the cold days of winter will be here soon and new projects will be waiting for you. Cheers.
Maybe the tensioner for the alternator belt, if it has one. Tensioners and idlers are notorious for becoming noisy. If nothing else, start it with the belt removed. I have a cheap mechanic's stethoscope I use to find a noisy pulley. Feeling out of gas myself lately, I think it might be the short days, all I want to do is sleep.
Nice to see you out, enjoying the milder weather. Sorry not many comments, just been dealing with some long term issues from a bad accident I was in a few years ago. In waiting for a new hip at this point. Regardless, just in case I can’t comment as frequently, I wanted to wish you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS. From your biggest fan! ❤🎄
Good Luck with the new hip. I had one put in almost 9 years ago and it was a game changer. Two days after the surgery, I walked out of the hospital with no pain. When I left the hospital I made sure that I had a full bottle of pain medication but I never needed it so I threw it out. The doctor told me to take it easy for three months, which I did, and then I went back to work. The hip will limit you somewhat on what you can do but to be pain free for all these years is a miracle. The pain medication they give you in the hospital will make you constipated, so what I did when I got home was, I drank lots of water. I just kept slamming bottles of water and that took care of the problem for me. Good Luck and God Bless.
The front bearing is bad in the alternator Jim, I’ve seen this problem before, it has to be under load to make noise, spinning it without the belt it won’t make any noise
Hi Jim! Happy New Year! Hope to see a video from you soon! We all miss you and have concerns for you! It's not your job to check up on Chad. He doesn't seem to help you when you need it! Looking forward to seeing you and Louie soon!
take a wooden broom handle and rest it on the alternator when it's chirping and see if the sound comes thru the stick. You would have to start it tho....
Like others buddy... Nice to see you up and about! That was a big shingleing job for one man Jim.. I,m sure a nice rest was welcomed eh!?!! Can,t wait to see you post more often and see what your next endeavors will be!!! Merry Christmas too your mom, You and Louie !!!! Cheers, Bernie
Hi jimbo from Pennsylvania it’s John and Jen I was the guy who did the portrait of you if Chad and Jolene give it to you no one said yes or no ? So I don’t know if you ever got it please let me know thanks buddy good to see you we miss seeing your videos hope your doing well brother god bless jimbo
Jim, Try fully charging the battery with a charger. Then see if noise is gone. Even with a good battery after a vehicle sits for a while upon start up alternator will charge at a high amps putting a heavy load on it.
You have definitely been working you tail off. I had the same experience on my truck. I could hear a chirp and it sounded like it was coming from one of the pullies so I got a can of WD40 with the nozzle that you can adjust to almost any position and I would spray the bearing and the sound would go away. Then after a few days the sound would come back. I did this for a while and finally went to the dealer and got another pully and replaced the one that I thought was chirping. The one I took off seemed perfectly fine. Well, as you might have guessed that did not fix the problem. My guess is that some of the WD 40 was getting on the belt and that was making the chirp go away. Long story short, the vehicle has had other problems as well, so I finally parked it until I get a chance to look at it again. Good Luck Jim and God Bless. I really have to hand it to you. You keep busy doing the things you need to get done. That is hard to do. You're a better man than me.
Hey Jim . My boyfriend is a master mechanic. He say you have bad bearing on the alternator. He thinks you did a wonderful job on the roof 😊. He hits like on all your videos
Hi Jimbo I'm happy you are doing well it's good to relax and have some time for yourself it gives you time to decide what you like to do next I think you have a idler pulley going bad or the teacher one of the two are going bad
It could be a valve lifter but first take the belts off one at a time and start it real fast see if you find it that way if you still hear it after removing the belts it probably a dry lifter good luck on your journey Jim
Hey Jim! Wondering if you know what happened to Chad. No videos in 4 days and that's not like him. Doug doesn't know and says he doesn't talk with Chad anymore. We're all worried about him and wondering if you could shed any light on what's going on. Thanks!
I remember hearing that chirp thought it might be a pully or even the water pump. But I forget exactly how that engines water pump looks n operates...My theory on that is that its not been ran a lot , so the pumps shaft gets a little rust built up and causes the chirp. But probably a good idea not to run it much until you get those head gaskets replaced.
Great to see you again Jim. Wishing you and Louie a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy 2025.
Looking forward to seeing more projects from you.
That Louie is a great companion,Merry Christmas Jim
Merry Christmas Jim, I am the same way. As you get older; it's important to relax a bit and admire the job as well. Thanks..
Great hearing from you Jim! That was a huge job doing that roof you deserve a good rest after that. Its always good to see you.
Good to see you, Jim out and about. Hope you have a merry Christmas and hang in there. I love your old 5556. Osmo can’t wait to see it when you get it out this summer.
Run it with no belt on the alternator to see if the chirp disappears
You're wisdom is from much bigger value then tensioners and minor technical problems. Keep inspiring!
Happy New Year Jim, from NW Georgia USA...✌🇺🇸 Maverick

My 2001 Honda Accord chirps sometimes if r134 is low because the AC clutch is weak ! Roof on house looks great from barn !
Hi Jim! Happy New Year! Hope to see a video from you soon! We all miss you and have concerns for you! It's not your job to check up on Chad. He doesn't seem to help you when you need it! Looking forward to seeing you and Louie soon!
thet roof was a big job. my hats off to you.
Glad to your doing well. Good to see your back. Happy holidays .
Hi Jim, Just start it with the alternator belt is off. Noise still there, it's not the alternator. Terry
Jim you deserve a break after the roof job and a lot of that job was in the heat! Thanks for bringing us up to date. 👍
take a wooden broom handle and rest it on the alternator when it's chirping and see if the sound comes thru the stick. You would have to start it tho....

I never worked on one of them but it kind of sounds like an idler pulley?
Hi Jim ! Gandyland here. Do you know what’s going on with Chad and Jolene ? They haven’t posted in several days. Just concerned and hoping they’re ok.
Its the tension pulley that is chirping under pressure when you drive
Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 Jimbo
Hallo Jimmy nice to hear from you cheers.
Would need a break after roof replacement
It's always good to see an update of you. Have you started the Buick lately?
Glad you posted Jim was thinking I hadn't saw Amy post from you in a bit...

Never seen it, maybe someday
Thanks Jim. It was good to hear from you.
Jim, Try fully charging the battery with a charger. Then see if noise is gone. Even with a good battery after a vehicle sits for a while upon start up alternator will charge at a high amps putting a heavy load on it.
Start it and if it chirps, disconnect the belt and start again .. if the chirp is gone, it’s either the belt or the tensioner pulley✌️
Good to here from you Jim, do you have one of those Mechanics Stethoscopes ?
Merry Christmas Jim have a good one 🎉🇬🇧
You have definitely been working you tail off. I had the same experience on my truck. What a fuss pot lovely Louie is. Could it be the water pump on the pesky Ferrari?? Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year....👍👍
Down time is good..we have plenty of snow in Ontario
Good morning Jim. Steve from St. Stephen NB
Hello Jimbo from New Orleans Louisiana
You might be hearing a slipping water pump belt that would explain your problem with overheating or maybe the bearing in the pump are locking up
I’m wondering if something happened to Fina ❤️🐕❤️
Great to hear you and that you’re doing well.
Merry Christmas to u and kitty
After the extensive roof shingles replacement you just completed I'd take a month off.
Run the engine and spray each belt with silicone spray one at a time if the noise goes away it’s that belt , but it can also be a idler pulley ?
Hi Jim glad your still here enjoy your videos
Good to c jimbo and putty kat doing good

Merry Christmas Jim

One question what do you think of Chad's fender skirts on that 34 FORD
Hey Jim and Louie . Happy your back and well.
Maby, could be a bearing, waterproof??? Keep a positive mindset sir, maby ask Chad.
Sounds like a bearing noise.
Yes I think its he's water pump
Nice seeing you Jim.
Hey Jim! Wondering if you know what happened to Chad. No videos in 4 days and that's not like him. Doug doesn't know and says he doesn't talk with Chad anymore. We're all worried about him and wondering if you could shed any light on what's going on. Thanks!
Nice to see you up and around down time is a good thing have to the older we get just don't sit to long that's just as bad lol.
Good to hear from u jimbo
Good to hear from you Jim. Best wishes, D
I don't see how you do what you do you are good 😊 Mike grizzle

Go ..Jim just keep up the good fight!!
Good to see you up and about thanks for a update chat
Hi Jim & Louie, Cheers guys!
Check the tensioner !
Is there an idler bearing on that car
yes that's what I thought too
Right on jim
Try running the motor with the alternator belt off to see if noise goes away
Try starting it without the belt on the alternator see if it's still makes a noise and make sure it's the right size v belt cheers Goofy Australia
Hello from fredericton NB
Whatever works for you is the right way to go, saves burnout
Jim not sure if it has a belt tension pulley if so it could be your noise problem.
Good job Jimbo really like watching you do you know what happened to Jolene and Chad? They haven’t posted a video in three or four days.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Howdy Jim. Well deserved rest. I’d take a year off after doing that roof.
Hi Jim
