I dont mind crashes in the dry but in those conditions it wasnt there fault and i really felt for the guy who broke his jaw. Would be a perfect course dry but in the wet its too risky
Courses in the future should have jumps over burning fires, sections that have snipers with live ammo, and 1 kilometer climbs with an average grade of 80%. Those climbs need to have course marshals standing there with water hoses to ensure the dirt is mud, or use broken glass for the surface.
What?! No sharks with fricken lasers on their heads? Would you settle for ill tempered, mutated sea bass? Oh! I know! A section of the course populated with the aliens from Alien. And another area with Predator aliens. Sound good? 😁

Cyclocross riders deal with this kind of stuff all the time. When I raced XC in Alaska, we often had races like this where we would start the race with brand new cables and housings and would have to replace all of it by the end of the race. And the mud up there was much worse because it was full of glacial silt and was incredibly slick and got into EVERYTHING. Dealing with trail conditions is part of racing. The only questionable part in my mind was that rock garden; creating barriers with sharp rocks jutting upwards in between the lines was a bad decision.
@@keirfarnum6811 cyclocross is suposed to be like that, XCO no. Makes no sense having the riders running on climbs. I do agree that's part of it but it would be better if they waited for better conditions. Yup, that rock garden is nasty!
Someone who has design and build that rock garden should lose his job... And it's not only about blind drop, because there are bigger drops on other WC. But to put those vertical, sharp huge rocks betwen lines, that is out this world. Someone forget that XC riders wear almost roadie helmets and any crash there can be brutal
The “people” were Actually the Teams and Riders who complained about the course to the organizers. They were in the hot seat and forced to make changes to the course. @@frienduro24 that's valid if the riders are raising safety concerns, but I am referring to the viewers watching on youtube being the arbiters of what should be a XC course.
Seeing people tryna make a point that it was too dangerous makes me laugh. The course was hard as hell and it was wet. The most technical riders will prevail.
Can you please stop showing the front guy, if nothing is happening? Behind there is probably a lot more action, people trying to overtake, tak7ng different lines and such. Even if it is just top 5
Despite all the hype about this hard course, the result was the same as the others. It was won in the climbs by the guy with the best cardio. A guy historically great in climbs got 2nd. This isn't to imply Pidcock or Flukinger don't have good tech skills, of course they do, just that all the talk about how this course would really disrupt things turned out to be completely false.
Don’t pay attention to the couch bound analysts. They’re all clueless. Races are always won in the climbs and technical bike handling skills are always important regardless, but that’s only part of what will help someone win. That’s been true since XC racing began. XC racers need all the skills and fitness to win.

I thought it was cool to see the obstacles. just don’t know why they lined/divided the rock garden with rock walls (where Brandl smashed his jaw). when they realized how slick it was they should have padded those better imo. It wouldn’t minimize the obstacle difficulty but in case some crashed they’d be less likely to break their damn jaw.
