pigs have been known to be the cleanest farm animal around. If given the opportunity they will have toilet in one spot and sleep in another. You have too many pumpkin plants… That’s the problem… Next year when you plant them plant half of what you’ve got now and I can almost guarantee you you will get a ton of pumpkins. Pumpkins need a little bit of space to grow and they’ve crowded each other out…. Same thing with your watermelons…. my grandpa taught me how to plant stuff like this and he told me that sometimes less is more the more they have to grow the more they will produce, but if you have too many plants together, they’ll choke each other out…
@@HiddenSpringFarm yep…. They need space to grow…. My grandpa and grandma planted anything that grew on the ground as vines like that at a minimum of 5 feet apart… they always had a huge harvest of pumpkins, watermelons, cantaloupe, cucumber, egg plant etc….
We have done ducks, especially when we hatch too many drakes. They taste just fine but much different than chicken. It’s all dark meat and a bit greasy and gamey. My wife make a Filipino dish called duck adobo, it’s not bad but I prefer chicken or turkey myself. The dogs love the duck but the cats won’t touch it.
@@HiddenSpringFarm I hope you get them soon. How many growing days do you have left before estimated first frost dates? I’m in central Texas so I know we have till late November-ish most likely. I hate the heat but longer growing season is a decent perk if my fruit and veg don’t boil on their stems in 101-110 Fahrenheit
@@jackiel9536 oh boy pumpkins are usually the last thing to harvest from mid Sept to mid Oct after that it’ll start to get frosty. But considering we don’t have any fruits yet they’ll have to fruit and grow in 1.5 months or so. Highly unlikely for full size pumpkins I think.
@@HiddenSpringFarm yeah, I’ve read they have a very long time to grow till able to harvest. I have watched all your videos, but I forget, did you start them inside back near January or February? I’m so new to the gardening/homesteading world but I’ve been binging on anything gardening I can find as it satisfies my desire to have a huge garden till we have our own (non-HOA) land.
I am having the same problem with my squash. All male flowers, few female. I have had to save male flowers and pollinate the female flowers when they open up. I have heard a lot of people having this problem. Many think it's gov ern ment. Not wanting us to have food to eat. Dont know but i wouldn't put it past them. Don't trust. LOVE YOUR FARM AND THE VIDEOS. So much love on your farm. GOD BLESS!!
@HiddenSpringFarm the male flowers will only last about a day. I put in ziplock bag and kept in house till female opened. Some of them didn't get to use waiting on female flowers. 😕 Sad.
In a previous video he said he feeds his cats twice a day, WHAT? No wonder some of his do not always make a kill. DO NOT feed your barn cats. Let the find their own food. You can give them a plate of milk in the evening. That is what my family did on their farm in Europe. My family never made pets of the barn cats. They should be semi feral if you want them to be good hunters.
I’m sorry but if you don’t train your barn to know that this is their new home they may wander off. I’ve had this experience with Fozzy although I trapped him to get him back after 3 days. Majority of the time cats hunt for sport and feeding them has no bearing on whether they will hunt or not. I feed our cats once in the evening for dinner and it’s at the same time I call them back in to be protected. I guess we can agree to disagree cause my opinion is using your system if by chance your cats don’t catch anything that day they will not eat, that’s not how I want to do things. Our cats still catch rodents all the time even though I feed them. I don’t believe you are wrong but your method is not my preference. Thanks for the exact same comment on 10 of my barn cats videos, you must have copy and pasted all those comments eh, cheers.

But at least we’re getting some watermelons. Does that go for the cantaloupe too cause those aren’t fruiting either.
Have you ever harvested your ducks? If so, are they a good taste? Or don't eat them they're horrible? 😊❤
I’ve heard that the male flowers form first then the females develop
That’s true, but let’s hope we get some be female flowers soon or we won’t get any pumpkins.
@@jackiel9536 my wife started 12 indoors the rest were sowed directly 😀
I am having the same problem with my squash. All male flowers, few female. I have had to save male flowers and pollinate the female flowers when they open up. I have heard a lot of people having this problem. Many think it's gov ern ment. Not wanting us to have food to eat. Dont know but i wouldn't put it past them. Don't trust. LOVE YOUR FARM AND THE VIDEOS. So much love on your farm. GOD BLESS!!
I didn’t even think about saving them I’ll have to try it 😉
@HiddenSpringFarm the male flowers will only last about a day. I put in ziplock bag and kept in house till female opened. Some of them didn't get to use waiting on female flowers. 😕
Sad.
Bro I would not eat those tomaters. Unless its the apocalypse.... yeah I'll eat those ones. Whatever it takes.
@@MrTickingtime haha nope I’m not eaten em, they grew right out of a petrified poo 🤮

Also, nice to see Darlin feeling more comfortable making appearances 👍😎
Anything gardening is her domain, she’ll most likely disappear come winter time 😂
