That's what you'll learn in this tutorial.
I will teach you two methods, where in the first one you will open the stl file normally and only then convert the mesh (graphic) into solid body.
And in the second method you will directly open the stl file in solid body. So watch the entire video to see which method best fits your
necessity.
To start the conversion, we must right-click on the tools tab, and enable the mesh modeling tab.
Afterwards, with the mesh modeling tab enabled, we must click on convert to mesh body, and then click on the mesh that we want to convert, and then click on ok.
There, your mesh turned into a solid body.
And now it has mass and volume.
In the second method to open straight as solid body and we don't need to convert. Just click on options, then select solid body, and click ok.
Now just click on open and the file will automatically open as a solid body.
Just click on file type, and choose the mesh files option, which will have the stl file extension.
Then just click on the file, and then click on options.
Thus, making it an editable body, that is, an editable stl file, as you can see, it is possible to perform extrusions normally
The problem is that the solid you create in either of these approaches will not interact with other editing tools. So you have a solid, but you can't cut it, combine an additional solid with it, etc. I appreciate the effort, but the problem with mesh bodies in SolidWorks is that they're kind of completely different things, as far as I can see...
did you find a solution?
@@xeb0lax essentially I did a workaround, importing the solid model and living with it as-is
Thank you so much. But this model is not able to move/rotate freely when inserted in the assembly. Can you help me to sort out this issue.
Sorry, but the only way I know how to do it is according to the video
Had to like and Sub just for the background song alone! Thanks a bunch!
Thanks!
I was wondering how can i make a case for this?? i have an object with a complicated shape which is a CAD now thanks to you, but my goal is to make a case/protector for this object, how could one do that??
I'm sorry but I don't know how to help you
No worries, thank you anyways!@@infinityprojetosbr-solidworks
You Absolute Legend
Thanks
yes but I have a problem. The sickness of all details is 0. I tried to change thickness by choosing the surface and have a problem: unable to sicken.
hello friend, this tool sometimes doesn't work depending on the file and the thickness you want. It is important that the file is light and the thickness is not too thick
@@infinityprojetosbr-solidworks I converted it and wanted to do flow simulation. But I have geometry alert: thickness=0, don't know how to fix it. By the way, my file consists of 1000 parts
sorry but i don't know how to help
Did the mesh modeling exist in solidworks 2016 ???
I do not know
how to get "mesh modelling" bar if in mine don't appear?
hello friend, some old versions of solidworks do not have this bar, if you want to install solidworks 2021 I leave the link below so you can download it
drive.google.com/folderview?id=1GkuYWelTVS5njisgIDH_zXuJI851kLPJ
You may have it, right click in the toolbar across the top and select Tabs > Mesh Modeling from the popup menu
@@danielcanestaro-garcia2777 thanks for the tip friend
@@infinityprojetosbr-solidworks how do you sketch on the converted body? When I select a surface there are no options to sketch
hi Jeremy, you must use the surfaces tools
This really doesn't help when the graphics file is too large to import as a solid. Thanks for the waste of time
Just leave it on for several hours and it works.
Well, Solidworks isn't really a tool for working with big meshes in the first place. It's like being pissed off at Blender that it isn't parametric.
