while the plasma cutter does have a range advantage over the pka it does extremely poorly fighting fauna because it 1. has a lower base damage than the pka and 2. lavaland mobs naturally resist burn damage. this combination makes fights using it drag on a lot longer than with a pka. i think a pka kills a watcher in 5 hits and a goliath in like 8 or 9
@@kesumodachannelwithstuff4213 Actual shaft miner here: The KA does 40 damage in non-pressurised enviroments, combine it with 3 cooldown mods and it becomes a dream with dealing with mobs in lavaland, and the "risk of being too close" isnt a big one if you are robust enough to, ya know, NOT BE IN MELEE DISTANCE when the KA has a range. you shread Goliaths and watchers as a goliath with 3 cooldown mods can only get 1 tentacle attack out before dying. But if you MUST fight at range, KA does also have range mods but are a max of 3 mods
Or, have two KAs with three damage mods (so each KA deals 70 damage) and shoot while alternating hands. Goliaths die in three volleys. If you can't dodge a tentacle attack and stay 2 tiles away from a goliath you have no business being a miner. Plasma cutter is brute damage, not burn. But it deals 8 damage, so it just tickles the wildlife. It's for mining, not fighting.

I encountered a legion once, I was dragging my mining bot when suddenly it rushed over the lava and destroyed a legion in like 5 seconds. At least I got a regenerative core
Now i can try SS13, i always wanted to, but the constant fear of not knowing how to mine properly steered me away from it. It steered me away from alot of things in life. Now maybe I can get back out there, and see the world someday. Thanks Pengwynd!
You ever just give yourself a variable edited proto-kinetic accelerator with 100,000% mod capacity and some variable edited modkits with modifier value cranked up a couple thousand? Instant one hit K/O on anything that dares move in your field of view. Megafauna not invited to this lavaland party *pew pew*
You forgot that the PKA Can attach the surival knife + flashlight to it. Also good use of the spare flashlight that are in the lockers since multiple lights amplify the amount of light around you which is very useful.
Dude, being shitcurity is easy. Here let me give you some tips : 1. Beat the shit out of everybody that is remotely suspicious 2. Beat the shit of any clown you found. 3. Lock up everyone that you hate. 4. Beat the shit of everybody that is wearing an insulated glove (except engineers). 5. Kill or throw any cultists and traitors in to space.
No actually you are doing it wrong. You want to have half of the whole armory in your bag at all times no matter what, full security hardsuit even though there are no breaches, then when the traitor kills you because you are quite unrobust the traitor becomes the most powerful individual on the station with half of security's arsenal at their disposal.

Ive neve had a round last only 15 minutes before, now i can say ive seen it 3 times. The poor doctors and med wing gets flooded by neanderthals all screaming over eachother and pushing eachother out of the way for help, not realizing that im gonna take the person i picked first because i actually use my pda to health analyze and determined the miner to be more priority over greyshit assbang mcstealyourshit. The game is already hard with lots of shit going on, we cant be dealing with player dumbassery on top of it. Being new and asking for help and messing up is one thing, being a fucknut neanderthal isn't helping anyone out, especially the player being a moron.

Reed Worsham but you don’t have to risk dying from being too close. Long fights, but safer fights.
