Not to mention more story. I think it would've been keen if they went into more detail on the destruction and terror caused by the Seven Great Monsters.
This game was a nightmare fuel for me when I was little. I thought it was an exploration game bc i like sea creature until I watched my dad and brother played it and those bosses appeared 😂😭 it's too bad that i didn't have the chance to try it many years later, but it is nice to see its legacy being remembered online.
Yeah, especially if you got to play the theater version of it, which made you truly feel like you were "inside" the game for that matter too! Same was also the case with the The Lost World: Jurassic Park, along with the second House of the Dead for that matter also!
Neither did I. But I almost did once! And sadly, the Cabinet they had of This at the Magic Mountain close to My Place is no longer there. One of two Cabinets there I ever really got in to. I actually never knew until just now how rare It was outside of Japan (And apparently Singapore) I actually didn't know that it was made in Japan either. The other one that I was really in to was a Star Wars Cabinet with 4 Levels: Battle of Yavin, Battle of Hoth, Ground Battle of Endor and Space Battle of Endor. I did manage to win a couple of times. As well as a couple of Bonus Boss Fight Levels with Luke squaring off against Boba Fett in one and Darth Vader in the other. I never won those. And that Star Wars Cabinet is gone too!
I remember playing this at an arcade all the time as a kid. It was in this big box and made you feel like you were sitting inside a submarine. I miss this so much 🥹
Honestly I'm not a big fan of the turret styled light gun games, cause most modern ones are that style and I miss being able to hold a neon handgun. Although I make a very special exception for Ocean Hunter, it fits really well here obviously. Man it'd be so cool to have an Ocean Hunter II, I'd love to see what cool sea monsters they could come up with.
I remember one afternoon my cousin and I went to our local arcade with 50 dollars worth of quarters and spent the afternoon beating this game, the final boss fight is still one of my most memorable boss fights of all time to this day
Those moments when the other player is busy looking for treasure, while the other has the reflexes of a drunk person. I'm looking at you player one. Don't take it out of context, it was a good game. Thanks for the 60 fps.
Both it and the screech are taken from the AVP2 game. The high pitch whoop is healing, the long roar is whenever you kill prey by destroying their head.
6:51 Has anyone notice the little diver walking cautiously in the second mission just when the other diver it's brutally killed by the Sharks? 25:07 How the diver, who was swallowed by Midgardsom survived 10 days without food or sweet water inside that monster? Still, great childhood game. I played it for the first time in april of 2000 right before watching in cinema Galaxy Quest(2000). Always when we go to that mall, my dad gave me lots of quarters to play but i never beat it all. 22 years later, that game still kicking until today just they change the original screen to a 50' inch 4K TV looks awesome!!
Holy crap, does this take me back. This was one of the first arcade games and shooters I ever played, along with *House of the Dead* (first zombie game). I remember spending SO many dollars for tokens on this at the bowling alley as a kid. The bosses were epic, scary, and really made me feel like an oceanic explorer as well as "a little fish in a VERY big pond", so to speak, compared to them. Even though it's the 1st & easiest boss, the Kraken is still my favorite of the creatures. When I first beat the game as a teen, I was initially in disbelief like, *"Wait, what just happened? Is that it? Did I seriously win?"* That feeling like I had conquered the world was great and reminds me to appreciate the older days of gaming. 😱 *#UnderTheSea* 🦈

Unlike common, ubiquitous arcade shooters like Jurassic Park and Terminator, this game has excellent lore, fun bosses, and beautiful aesthetics. It felt more like an experience, rather than just a regular shooting game. Growing up, I used to play this game with my grandfather at the boardwalk every summer. He was like a dad to me and we were both huge beach fans, so this was the perfect game. I remember spending hours and using so many tokens as a kid trying to beat it. Well, about 7 years ago, the arcade was bought out by new management and they got rid of the game, which was the most popular one. I haven't been able to find it anywhere else. This video brings back so many memories and lots of nostalgia. From the music, to the clip at the end, and even that iconic sound when you insert the coins, I feel like I'm reliving those moments playing it by the beach. This might sound cheesy to some, but this game has a special place in my heart. Thank you so much for the upload, I'll see again one day Pop

One of the stages in this game, Texcoco, was an actual lake in Mexico. Funny thing is, it no longer exists as it was drained during colonial times, and there were never piranhas in it. Much less monster-sized plesiosaurs named "Ahuizotl"! :-p
I’ll never forget playing this for the first time at the hotel in Disney world. I got up really early and checked out their arcade and saw this and gave it a try and I was hooked.
I'd love to see a remake of this. It'd be cool to get more mythologically accurate creatures as well. Ahuizotl: "Canine like, very skinny with sharp, jagged fur, and a tail that ends in a third hand" This game: "Buhhh...make it a plesiosaur, idk."
Midgardsorm/Jormungandr is supposed to be a snake, but they made it an earth worm. Leviathan is supposed to be a crocodile, but they made it a megalodon. I actually don't mind the creative freedom they took
@@matheuscruz8574 Leviathan was never a reptilian in the myth though. It was a big sea monster likely to be a giant fish or whale. Where did you get crocodile?

There is something beautiful, elegant and eerie about the design of the true form of Rahab and I love the story at the end spoken from the view point of Rahab itself.
He was evil as stated but he did seem noble with his intentions. I wish I had played this instead of watching. The ending twist was good and beautiful.
Out of all arcade games, i totally wanna see how this game would hold up to today's graphics with an Update, CMON THEY DID HOUSE OF THE DEAD, NOW WE NEED OCEAN HUNTERS! I can still remember going to Kennywood for a school field trip and sitting in the arcade for hours playing this and HotD 2. Excellent cabinet, had a seat with mounted light guns and a black curtain.
25:49 I feel really bad for Midgardsorm, to be honest. Imagine having something inside of you shoot at your heart and cause it to explode. All the other monsters were actively attacking the players, at least.
you could feel bad for the rest of the monsters as well. in the end, it was said that the reasons the monsters were created was because the humans were overhunting or disgracing the sea. so they were defending the seas in response.
@@JV-km9xk Yeah, I suppose the monsters were just acting on their instincts. But still, the monsters were doing more than just defending the seas from humans; they were killing innocent sea creatures too. Plus, there would’ve been a better way to protect the oceans than to start with violence.

Not to mention more story. I think it would've been keen if they went into more detail on the destruction and terror caused by the Seven Great Monsters.

Loved this as a kid, especially the bosses since they're based on mythologies. Wished Sega released a remaster collection of their Arcade classics.
This game was a nightmare fuel for me when I was little. I thought it was an exploration game bc i like sea creature until I watched my dad and brother played it and those bosses appeared 😂😭 it's too bad that i didn't have the chance to try it many years later, but it is nice to see its legacy being remembered online.
this game definitely feels different with a small screen.
When I was a kid I felt so immersed thorough the whole game.
Yeah, especially if you got to play the theater version of it, which made you truly feel like you were "inside" the game for that matter too! Same was also the case with the The Lost World: Jurassic Park, along with the second House of the Dead for that matter also!
I would play this game ALL THE TIME whenever I went to an arcade place.
Same this is like my childhood game

So much memories with this game
This is the finest footage of the game I have ever seen! And the only one in English, too. You guys have done good!
I remember this game so much. Sadly I never got far enough to beat it.
Rest in pepperoni 😔
Same here.

I did!!!! It took many many times of convincing my dad to go to the arcade but we did it
Could you imagine this in VR

With today's graphics and music, I'd be equally awesome and terrifying.
NO
I remember playing this at an arcade all the time as a kid.
I fuckingmlove the game to death sega needs a console sequel now but with a story mode, multiplayer mode, store for upgrades, etc
I love that last message from Rahab lml
It kind of makes you wonder if Rahab was really the good guy and the two hunters were the bad guys
Martin Gargaro thats true
Martin Gargaro, it would likely depend on who you are asking. Rahab was pretty much wreaking havoc on the humans in that world.
I think Rahab was trying to protect his territory from sailors and pirates.
Rahab is next gen legendary in galar region
I remember one afternoon my cousin and I went to our local arcade with 50 dollars worth of quarters and spent the afternoon beating this game, the final boss fight is still one of my most memorable boss fights of all time to this day
The Ocean Hunter game needs to be remade with much better backgrounds
Mike Eustaquio Agreed, but let's be honest, the background and ambiance the game gives off isn't half bad for a 1998 Arcade Light-Gun Shooter. :P
Shit, I'd take a 1 to 1 port just with controller support

Still, great childhood game.
I played it for the first time in april of 2000 right before watching in cinema Galaxy Quest(2000).
Always when we go to that mall, my dad gave me lots of quarters to play but i never beat it all.

I loved this game so much at the arcade as a kid. I literally will give money to the creators if they would make a remaster or a part 2
used to play this with dad in an amusement park and right now im feeling sad that i cant find this anywhere anymore , wish this came on the Wii like LA machinegun and Resident Evil Chronicles , this would be a treasure in my collection if if it had a Wii port .
