I bought this bike in metallic blue almost a year ago for $600 (before tax), and so far, no complaints when it comes to commuting. It's quick, lightweight, shifts decently well with the Tourney groupset, and the disc brakes work well in the rainy climate I have to deal with. I got a few scratches, dings, and rust spots on my forks, but aside from that, the bike looks almost new from when I bought it. This is my first non-Walmart brand bike, and I am so glad I picked this one.

I have this bike and I can honestly say that this bike BEATS 90 to 95% Bikes out there. This is a Beast bike. It's so incredibly smooth and has Damm near zero friction next to an air craft which has absolutely ZERO friction. The wheels are very big but thin enough for great speed. The seat is one of my favorite features of this bike. It doesn't matter WHICH FABRIC your pants are made of,,, you can Slide on the seat without getting it caught up. It's like throwing a hockey puck onto the ice and watching it slide. The handle bar grips are very comfortable and the gear changing is awsome. You can relax and have a seat while you pedal all while climbing up hill.
The cables passes inside the bike frame and will not get in your way. It's the perfect bike

I bought the 2024 Escape Disc 2 on sale because I love the geometry and fit of the XL, but I hated the microshift, so I upgraded this bike to full Deore 5120 1x11 with a 38t up front (found the full groupset cheap for $100!). Now it is perfect for road and light trail with the RD clutch!

Just beware that the BB shell is 68mm and the Deore spindle is 73mm, so you need 2 or 3 spacers on the non-drive side.

The seller told me that there is a difference with the system of speed (shifting), THE ESCAPE 2 has a Shimano Altus, 2x8. what do you think ? Should i go with the 2 or 3 if i want to go fast I(LOL)? There is a big difference ? Thanks!!

We have this crap as well in the UK where bike shops just post the manufacturer's specifications with the disclaimer they can change anything and everything without notice. Consumer law here in the UK is the seller ie the shop is responsible for faults and they should similarly be responsible for stating, pre sale, what specifications have been changed from those stated by the manufacturer.

I'm not really happy with this bike (compared to my earlier workhorse, a Wheeler 2). I have the Shimano Tourney version (hell, why are there even different versions out there?) with a disc brake that was not designed for this bike (probably ended up here due to covid supply chain issues) - after a year the brake bowden is at the maximum and the gear shift is wonky and finnicky (the brake and the shifter are in a combined unit, so it's not like I can have only the brakes replaced).

I own this same bikeI got it in 2022 because my old bike i had for 15 years got stolen. Honestly after my old bike this bike felt really good at first, it got me back into biking. I'm 38 now. In June 2023 I took a 8 day ride Edinburgh ➡ London UK (800km-497 miles). But I was sleeping at random Bed & Breakfast type places , Hotels & one Caravan site. I didn't bring camping gear, tents exc..but I had a backpack with all my clothes, plus any tools I might need, so it was a heavy back-pack to carry, but I practices before hand so I was use to that. Honestly the bike worked pretty well. Only issue I had was the gears shifting over time, by the time I got to London the gears were not shifting much at all. But I mean it's expected to adjust gear shifting after a long distance journey. I would consider buying a more expensive bike for better gear shifting, maybe a little lighter, but overall I think it's a good bike for the price and for comuting to work exc. And it can do a pretty good distance.

    • @feralearthworm3044

I have thrown some 28mm Continental Grand Sport Race tires on this bike and my cruising speed went up a gear and still felt easier than being down a gear with stock tires. This amounts to about a 3kmh difference in easy cruising speed, from 24kph to 27kph. Harder 30 minute efforts are now at 32kph, and Max sprint speed (3 seconds) on flat also went from 43 kmh to 48kmh, and it feels more zippy and agile in traffic. As far as the perfect tires for this bike i would say 32 mm would be better riding at 40kmh and under, as you wont lose speed and will be quite comfortable, but I do like the 28s as they are fun just to dart around more and have a slight bit better acceleration and top end speed, and feel faster than 32s at slower speeds (even if they aren't, as people claim). I also put some West Biking inner bar ends, not unlike the Sqlabs inner bar ends, but I put them inside the shifters to get a bit of aero advantage and it helps on straightaways where you for sure are safe and don't need access to your brakes. It's another hand position for comfort on longer rides and maybe 2% faster 😊. For out of the saddle accelerations and climbing, and just another hand position, i have some thumb grips kind of like the Togs brand thumb grips, providing more leverage without needing to use wider bars. I wouldn't worry about much else other than slamming the stem, and cutting the seatpost if you have extra and really want to save some weight. But I wouldn't spend $$ upgrading anything else besides pedals or a saddle if you don't like them. I figure if I work on my fitness I can go as fast as most guys on road bikes, and if i feel so inclined, drop 2-3 grand on a performance road race bike in a year or two if my fitness improves enough to justify the purchase.
