Back to stick float fishing after many years of neglect especially during the autumn and winter months. Chub, Roach, Dace etc on a nice stretch of River.
Hello from Belgium! Thank you for highlighting this wonderful technique, unfortunately neglected. I learned to fish with this technique. I hope she will find her rightful place again. And maybe it will spread to the continent.
This is a brilliant guide for beginners. Coaches should keep a copy and use it during coaching sessions. Great professional delivery James and Chappy. Cadence Go fishing, Give back.
Excellent information. As a commercial (sea) fisherman in Cornwall (crab/lobster potting and longline fishing) sadly I don't spend enough time on a river enjoying angling; but this information has really helped me untangle the mystery of stick floats. My haven is the River Severn at Hampton Loade, Bridgnorth. One point to mention, you're wearing waders - please wear a lifejacket (PFD) - if you fell-in you would never survive, waders are lethal in that respect. We used to wear them at sea 30 years ago and so many times, fishermen were lost as a consequence. Best wishes, Phil Lockley.
Which float I should use for fast-moving water, which one I should use for calm water, and which one I should use for waters that are in the middle? I appreciate it if you could show me a link for each one of them so that I would know what to buy for each one of those water conditions. Thanks ahead.
Does a certain style of float help to slow down the bait in fast moving water than others? If so, would you tell me which one? Also, do you think adding more split-shots would slow down the speed of your bait through the water? Thanks ahead, I truly appreciate any suggestions you could give.
from Chappy - With respect, these are ten minutes long for good reason. The intention is to grab newcomers and get them to easily (and quickly) absorb basic angling info. Surely you must agree that the main long videos we have been putting out for the last year contain plenty of in-depth info the like of which you seem keen to acquire?

Excellent video. You have answered all the things I wanted to know about plumbing the depth for trotting on rivers. Thank you for sharing.

One of the best tutorials i've seen in a long time. Well done chaps
very well explained, will have to get my old 13ft roach rod and abu reel out as soon as the river fines off after what seems like a month of rain
Excellent
