If nothing else, these are some of the most HONEST and the most ENTERTAINING reviews on youtube--even if you don't own a motorcycle. Fortunately I do, unfortunately Chris seems opposed to opening a store stateside!
I live in Gibraltar and ride in Spain, mostly in Andalucia but I travel all over. This is a fantastic jacket that can be worn in all temperatures. The base layer can be very cosy but has its limitations. However matched with my Keis electric jacket there's nothing warmer on a motorcycle. The base layer is great off the bike too. I love the functionality. I didn't like the trouser so matched the Nivala with the Stadler trouser, which the motolegends team put a bigger anti slip patch on the arse and made a zip to connect the two together. All at no added expense to me I may add! Great service to provide me with the best all round sports touring suit that is out there. Highly recommend going to see them. I spent hours trying everything on and Chris (and Sara too) unflappably guided me through the whole process to get exactly what i was looking for. Id just like a Scott waterproof to put over the Nivala. Why you may ask? I've a laminated expensive Rukka!! Well simply, I want to protect my investment.... Great team. The best outfitters bar none. Although I'm sure I'm still owed 18 quid from Chris he promised me!! : )
I'm in the US and have 3 different Rukka suits. Every one of them are as Chris states "The most comfortable kits on the market". I own Klim, lots of klim! and it pales in comparison to the Rukka brand
Excellent work, thank you. I'm trying to decide between this and the Kallavasi. Living in Glasgow ventilation comes second to rain protection and warmth.
The down liner jacket & trouser does shed some of the feathers through the fabric, mine was sent back for a warranty investigation & the result was “the amount of feathers lost is acceptable” but everyone’s definition of excessive is different
I have been looking for this suit on the Rukka website and its not listed. Can you confirm if the Rukka Realer is the same suit? Great videos by the way.
Chris I really like your reviews and Ive met you in person and you gave me great advice on cleaning and caring for my Rukka kit. So how about you address the elephant in the corner. Rukka Chinese zip failures. Just taken my jacket back with another failed main zip, 8 to 10 weeks estimate to repair and no loan jacket ( Covid). The time quoted apparently is because they're inundated with broken zip repairs. For a garment of this supposed quality that is totally unacceptable and if they insist on making they're products in China maybe they should reflect it in the price. Myself and 4 friends have Rukka and 3 of the 5 have failed zips, and the ones that don't are older suits made before Rukka went to China. Bought this kit as I do 20000 miles a year on the bike, disappointed doesn't get close mate.
Most Rukka zip repairs we do here in a day. This is not a replacement zip but a tweak to the existing one so has no effect on warranty. We are also happy to arrange a loan jacket if the suit has to go back to Rukka. I've not heard that Rukka is inundated with broken zips. I am aware that there has been a backlog on repairs because of Covid but also the sending of items back to Europe under warranty has been a nightmare for all manufacturers since Brexit! Time taken to clear customs is horrendous and paperwork required seems to be be different every time.
@@Motolegends Chris thanks for that honest straight forward answer. If only all sellers were like you life would be much simpler. Unfortunately they're not and I've been fobbed off and lied to consistently. Infinity Motorcycles look n learn.
Michael Williams Dear Michael. Actually works OK on shorter people. Jacket is not particularly long style and trousers do come in short version. Come and see us in Guildford to try. ML
I have bmw riders visit me every week to have work done on their bikes. Most of the wear rukka. Had a short guy who could hardly reach the floor on his GS and he was wearing a rukka. Looked great on him.
CE approved but we don't know to what level. Rukka have their own system that is fully compliant with CE, but the way they do it there is no class given. The Nivala would be AA. There is no such thing as a textile suit that gets AAA (yet) and clearly it is not an A.
@@Motolegends Aside from Hideout’s AAA textile clothing, what about the Furygan Brad-X that MotoLegends sells? While the Brad-X is more scooter chic, it shows what can be done from a technical standpoint (affordable AAA textiles).
I have the Navigatorr jacket. Would I benefit from a down-x liner or stay with the Outlast one it comes with ? Which would give the better warmth ? - great honest review as always :)
Dear Mark I’m getting back to you about your question as to whether the X-Down would be warmer than the Outlast liner in your Rukka jacket. Outlast is great stuff, but it has to be used in a particular fashion. You need to get heat into it before you get cold. If you do, it can be very effective. But on a long ride in the cold on a motorway, when you're not generating heat to be absorbed by the paraffin molecules in the membrane, it will not be so effective.
The X-Down is a fantastic, old-fashioned, insulating layer that will work as well as anything out there to maintain the body’s temperature. But the same applies on a long journey. On a cold day, riding at speed, its limitations will be reached. So there is no complete answer to your question. Outlast is clever and works well in some conditions, but the Rukka top is more insulating.
But if you're prepared to pay £190 for an insulating layer, you’re not far off the cost of an electric layer. An electric layer will keep you warm all day, because it generates heat from the bike’s battery. It doesn’t work by holding onto the heat that is naturally generated by the body.
For £270, you can get a Warm & Safe base-layer with a harness and a single controller. It’s a game changer; you'll never get cold again. ML

Just bought myself a nivala. It’s comfort on a whole different level
Keep the honest reviews coming, well done Chris and team.

Great so I need 3 jackets to use the rivals in the summer
Great review, thank you.
Am I going mad or is this the second video he has said twat in a cap?
What a nice shop.
A great suit, looks great on a tall guy, I’d like to see it fitted to a small person 5’6” for instance, (like my self) 🙁
