Johnny Beattie - The Glasgow Rap

Superb tribute to our beautiful city, from one of its more colourful characters.
I first became aware of Mr Beattie's work in the 80s STV quiz show Now You See It and was immediately hooked on his Glesga banter. He's still known to pop up in places like Rothesay for a wee impromptu gig or two and will no doubt be in attendance at the Krankies / John Barrowman panto vehicle at the SECC in a month or so.

i worked in the stage crew with johnny when he played the ayr gaiety,he bought the stage crew 2 crates of beer for christmas even though he didnt drink himself,never forgot his roots and a genuinely nice man

Funny, Funny man and a true gent with it - worked with him many times - Johnny has a photographic memory - this meant at the end of The Panto when he have all the groups a name check he didn’t use written words - with Johnnie’s passing it only leaves Stanley Baxter of our Variety Stars

I met johnny beattie years ago in the kelvin walkway he was clapping my german shephard dog who is dead now but I met him when my dog was only a pup.
