Hi this is late but my experience honestly was that if the larp is going well and everyone gets into it it honestly doesn't feel like acting, it just feels real ish so don't worry about the acting too much!

set up a larp facebook group. find interested people and make your own larp. it doesnt need to be fancy. got some foresty area near you . make a woodland high fantasy larp
(I especially love the bowline because when I studied on the Roseway I won a knot tying contest against one of the crew members and I'm still proud of how fast I can tie a bowline; in fact, after you mentioned it in the video, I went and got my practice rope and practiced bowline tying some more because I don't want to get rusty!)

A few years ago, I watched this video and thought "Oh my gosh! This is so cool! I want to do this one day!" I recently became obsessed with the Wellermen, and became reminded of this video. Now I really want to try this! I want to be able to ride on a ship, in full pirate outfit, singing the Wellerman with an entire group of people backing me up. That would be a dream come true!

(also, sea shanties historically have evolving lyrics depending on who is singing them. When I sailed on Adventuress for a month, we often changed lyrics to rhyme with crew mate names and locations we knew- so your custom shanty is SPOT ON. I hope the sailing crew of it adopts it as their own). Thanks for explaining how the ship battles worked! I've been curious about that- it sounds like a brilliant way to play it.
I can attest to the alternate lyrics in sea shanties, there are a few that I've heard with slightly different lyrics, I've heard Drunken Sailor both with and without the line "put him in a bunk with the captain's daughter" I personally prefer the version without that bit of uncomfortableness, although I might make a comedic short with someone singing along to the shanty and just stopping and widening their eyes the whole time that line is being sung

Her reaction to being on the pirate ship was the way I reacted when I walked into the pandora section at disney world. I've loved the world of Pandora and the Na'vi people since I saw the movie at ten. I was one of many people who fell into a state of depression after the movie was released because I wished I could live the life of the na'vi. So to walk into that world and see it realised was incredibly emotional and I cried in public several times walking around the park. Then I rode Flight of passage and cried a lot more.
Andy English the trip itself probably isn’t that expensive (it’s like a regular vacation) but with costume, objects, etc I can imagine it being a bit pricey
This looks so incredibly amazing, I'm so glad that you got to go on this adventure and share it with all of us!! The camaraderie everyone formed looks so fun to be a part of. Also I related so hard to that moment when you started crying when you just got on board. Having something to look forward to and have as a "light at the end of the tunnel" to get through hard times is something that happened to me last year, and when it actually gets to that event you looked forward to I remember just feeling so overwhelmed that I made it. This randomly came up on my recommendations and this is the first time that I’ve ever hear of “LARPS,” but it sounds fun. I’ve always been a DND fan, but too shy to roleplay, but I’d assume that it would be easier for me to do something like this with strangers with a similar passion. (P.s, your acting and singing is great! Acting is top notch, and your singing chimes really gave me Irish hymn vibes.
This isn't relevant to the video but when you cried getting on the ship, it finally helped me to cry, because this past week I had my first ever surgery and lost one of my jobs during recovery and lots of other things happened and I have trouble showing emotion (unless I'm fake crying cause acting) so idk... thank you for being super nice and honest and forthcoming in your videos in general, I've been binging them during recovery and it's so nice cause then I have stuff to look forwards to, like my next ren faire or college starting back up so I can start my tabletop RPGs again, or even the possibility of doing my first LARP session if I can figure out how. So yeah... thank you :')

As an actual sailor, my family and I have been sailing the world for five years aboard our sailboat Element (Sailing Catamaran Element is on youtube and on our blog), I was amazed at how enthusiastic you were to be aboard, I recognized the familiar tasks of lighting the stove, being a deckhand, helping with cleaning dishes and food prep, and your quote? That struck home for me. The treasure of our travels is the people we meet along the way. Thanks for that, I needed it today.

I have to admit I am very jealous of you, in a good way. I've traveled nearly the whole of North America and once in England because I am a traveling pet sitter who is ready to retire and even though I was seeing all of these amazing places, it never felt like an adventure. To me an adventure is the things you see on TV or video games or even movies. I grew up admiring incredible fantasy and adventure stories because my real life is kinda boring and oddly peaceful, but I still appreciate it. It's also driven me to become a writer. The closest times I've ever felt like I was on a real adventure was when I was either at Universal Studios, Disney World, a renaissance fair, or went into an escape room with a storyline. And sadly the escape room in my hometown closed, possibly due to the pandemic. Despite never LARPING before I role play every day by myself, it's aloud me to learn impressions and give me a slight bit of acting experience, but not professionally. Whether it's something I watch on TV, video game, or something I make up, I love to pretend and make believe everyday because that's the kind of person I've been since I was little and if I could make a career out of going to all of these LARPS I would do it in a heartbeat. I would love to feel the excitement of adventure that you get from LARPING everyday and hopefully one day I will.

1:46 A bowline (pronounced bolin, so you said it right) is a type of knot that makes a non-slipping loop in a rope :) Very useful for pirates!

I truely love this video. I watch your Instagram Stories all the time. It simply makes me happy to see a quirky, happy person with a unique style. But I never write comments. I only watch. And this is so wrong. So my goal is to actually tell people I realy like how adorable and inspirational they are. I realy love your larp videos so much. As an actual sailor, my family and I have been sailing the world for five years aboard our sailboat Element (Sailing Catamaran Element is on youtube and on our blog), I was amazed at how enthusiastic you were to be aboard, I recognized the familiar tasks of lighting the stove, being a deckhand, helping with cleaning dishes and food prep, and your quote? That struck home for me. The treasure of our travels is the people we meet along the way. Thanks for that, I needed it today.

This is my absolute dream, when I’m an adult I swear I’ll be living off this stuff, I’ve always loved pirates and wished I could be one!

I have to admit I am very jealous of you, in a good way. I've traveled nearly the whole of North America and once in England because I am a traveling pet sitter who is ready to retire and even though I was seeing all of these amazing places, it never felt like an adventure. To me an adventure is the things you see on TV or video games or even movies. I grew up admiring incredible fantasy and adventure stories because my real life is kinda boring and oddly peaceful, but I still appreciate it. It's also driven me to become a writer. The closest times I've ever felt like I was on a real adventure was when I was either at Universal Studios, Disney World, a renaissance fair, or went into an escape room with a storyline. And sadly the escape room in my hometown closed, possibly due to the pandemic. Despite never LARPING before I role play every day by myself, it's aloud me to learn impressions and give me a slight bit of acting experience, but not professionally. Whether it's something I watch on TV, video game, or something I make up, I love to pretend and make believe everyday because that's the kind of person I've been since I was little and if I could make a career out of going to all of these LARPS I would do it in a heartbeat. I would love to feel the excitement of adventure that you get from LARPING everyday and hopefully one day I will.
