Joanne Woodward, one of the finest actresses of any era. Her performance in The Three Faces Of Eve (1957) was a tour de force, an Oscar well deserved.
And of course, her collaborations with her husband, Paul Newman(an all-time favorite actor of mine), were fantastic. The Long Hot Summer (1958) & Paris Blues (1961) might be my personal favorites, though they were all great.
Ethan Hawke made a wonderful documentary about their life together in 2022 called The Last Movie Stars. I recommend it.
While she is sick nowadays, I still feel very fortunate to say Joanne is still with us at 93 years of age.
I haven't seen this particular performance with her and Dick Powell, no less, so I'm definitely looking forward to it.
    Thanks, PizzaFlix!

💖 azo ~ Thx for your input - i hadn't ever heard of "Interlude" B4 & honestly didn't think I'd like the storyline, mainly cuz I'd never had her problem & it _seemed weird_ to me. Plus, i read commz 1st a couple of days later, & some mentioned such a sad ending & crying over it ... & i really just wanted "Radar Men from the Moon" way more; but - wowww - was i ever surprised ... _luvvved_ it!!! Entralled! The execution of all of its components blew me away. Sooo glad I decided to take that huge leap & jump off of that fence.
i think i saw "The Three Faces of Eve" on Satellite several years ago, but can't E-VON recall a single scene lol. Sooo ... .
*However* - i remember LOTZA scenes from "The Long Hot Summer" cuz fell in _mesmerized_ _LUVVV_ with it & watched it _many_ times (ditto for the remake with Cybil Shepherd & Don Johnson - _many_ viewings). _Superb_ story & writing & acting & cinemagraphic ambience & directing by all in both films!!! Adored 'em both & comparing 'em ... kinda begged 🍕 for the newer version several months ago - my bad - forgot all about asking for the _original_ version. Thx for reminding me!!! I'd luv to be able to see 'em one after the other & to be able to flip back & forth between 'em at certain scenes to more carefully observe how the directors & actors treated said scenes.
      (🍕🍕 Double-Hint-Hint!! 🍕🍕)
I never heard of "Paris Blues" B4, but will take _your_ word for it. Maybe 🍕 could score that one some day, too.🤞 ~ 💖
      🎆 Happy 2024 New Year! Blessings! 🎆
      *PS* ~~~
Never heard of that documentary you recommended, "The Last Movie Stars", either - I'll keep it in mind.

I've always LOVED Joanne Woodward... Yes... I loved her in the movies you mention but her role in "The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds" really really stole my heart! I saw it on the big screen when it first came out in 1972. She was so beautiful inside and out.

She's graduating from high school, which means she's 18, so she's an adult. If he was really in love with her and respected her, they could have been together and it wouldn't have been taking advantage. They could have spent the rest of their lives together. Of course for 1950s television that could have never been allowed. But I would have loved that!

I was 5 years old when this was aired... lol... Woodward, born 1930, was 24 when she acted in this episode (she's still alive at age 93!) Dick Powell, aged 50 here, would die only 8 years later at age 58 from lung cancer, after decades of chain smoking. He was married to June Allyson, who died in 2006 at age 88.

For my money, she's the actor and her husband, what's his name, is the movie star. Lol. But only measured next to his wife.
Compared to his contemporaries, he was a talented actor. I was very impressive by Paul Newman until I saw Joann Woodward act.
I seem to remember an interview in which she said they'd decided as a couple that he'd act and she'd raise their kids, because, wait for it, he would make twice the money she would have made acting and that was the right decision for the family.
Imagine it! Deciding to do what's right for the whole family and then doing it! Won't wonders never cease!?
Barbara Stanwyck made half the salary of Van Heflin (who?) for The Strange Love of Martha Ivers though she was a bigger box office draw by far. Considered normal then ... And now! We've come a long way... maybe...not.
