I love heavy bombers....listening to them fly with those low sounding engines....it’s ingenious
Where I live we get the odd fly ins by classic warbirds==one day we had a Lib, a B17 and a B25 circling overhead. The noise from those Pratt & Whitneys was nearly deafening. I could not image a dozen, a hundred or a thousand of them all going by at the same time.
I can only imagine how terrifying being a bomber knowing at any moment you can get attacked truly was
Absolutely. Especially in the Liberator. They had a tendency to catch fire and were horrendous to escape from.

@@jonathontyynismaa5310 getting a face full of .50 cals is bad especially if you lack the firepower to deal equal damage.
These B24s seem very vulnerable from a low side approach.

Nope, I did not use the bombsight. Aircraft drop their bombs on the queue of the lead ship. IRL the others didn't even carry bomb sights.
@Fishyyy the wingman of the lead group did, just in case lead had to give up position due to damage.
Ok, thanks regarding information about the use of bombsight's onto targets, I didn't know that. What map and course did you fly to your target, what city was it meant to have been.

We flew from Kiriwina, north towards New Britain. Our target was the airfield near the village of Gabubu. There were no real towns on New Britian at the time, the biggest one probably beeing the japanese naval base at Rabaul, which is at the north end of the island. The map is called New Guinea / New Britain in the game or NGNB. The battle for Rabaul actually went on for a very long time, interesting topic to know about.
Fishyy, can you control each engine throttle, use an extinguisher and feather the propeller? also, is it possible to auto pilot into the AI formation to keep from hitting them over the course of two hours.... Cheers, Bill aus Kiedrich.
Yes, you can control everything for each engine individually. It is possible to let the AI fly most missions, in bomber formations, too. Re-enabling the autopilot can cause trouble in certain situations, though.
What version of Victor's sound mod is used in the mission? The gun sounds are great - but there isn't any clarification whatsoever on which modpack it is

B29 superfortress
The B-29 is way better than the B-24 and is more advanced too when you compare them one on one.
The B-29 had higher performace stats, yeah. The B-29 also was a failed concept. It was the most costly war project of WWII only to fail at what it was intended for - precision bombing. Flying at high altitude over Japan to destroy specific targets just did not work. That is why they also did the fire bombing at night, at low altitudes. By the way, the B-29 was unreliable, a big part of their losses were due to technical issues, i.e. the engines catching fire.
