When I sold used cars we had a 1996 Accent sedan in dark green with a beige interior and a 1996 3-door hatchback in dark purple metallic with a gray interior. I really liked those little cars, despite being slow and noisy. They rode well for a little cheap car, were surprisingly spacious, had a super smooth 4-speed automatic, and were a nice-looking design for the time.
A friend bought a base manual Accent in 95 for under $7800. He drove it until 2008 with over 220k, then Sold it for $700 to a dealer mechanic where he use to Service the car. It was trouble free and went on many 500 mile road trips. I like these cars and their design a lot.
My sister had a '95 in the same colour (albeit a used one). Despite the goofy looks and rough engine (it idled like a tractor), it was indeed fun to drive and reliable. Put a smile on my face every time!
These were the most popular imported car in Australia. In high school in the 2000s, everyone either owned one, or had a friend who owned one. Now there's even a racing series for them.
I still own a 1997 hatchback facelifted version it’s my favorite car awesome fuel saving zippy engine cheap parts easy to work on and fits everything like a pickup truck 😂
i currently own a Hyundai accent GLS 97 and to me it runs nicely. 57000 miles and im glad to read all these positive comments as its my first car. The engine noise doesnt bother me as much because its luxury to have your car load where im from. im more worried about parts as time goes by. any suggestions?
I had mine 7 years. Excellent car, better than 2005 I replaced it with. One issue was rust. It ate everything but driving on salty Canadian roads will do that. New Accent isn't nearly as much fun.
For a cheap car, I think the 1995 Accent was loaded with lots of new technology, and might even be more reliable than the cars they produce today. It sure looked and felt like a fun little car to drive. Not sure I'd choose that colour though. I was going say it seemed a bit expensive back then, and at the time, it might have been. $14,000 in 1995 is about $23,000 in 2021, in the price range of a new Accent today which is arguably more technologically advanced and with way more standard equipment.
LOL back in that 96 day I painted my RX3 that exact colour. We were all shocked that a little cheap car had these awesome colours and was bubble shaped with no ugly black bumpers even on the base base model
In the UK, it was on sale for around £6,000 or £7,000 in 1995 at a local dealership. The base model was the "Siena", and I was very enthusiastic about the car overall. We had a test drive in 98 or 99 and I was very happy with it. I think it was a special model - the MVi, but with 5 doors, and in yellow. Would like one even to this day. Would've been very happy to have the car, and was content with an FM radio with audio cassette (might play Type IV metal tapes in it and listen to BBC Radio 3). A really good decision on Hyundai's part to produce this car, because I'm not especially easy to impress when it comes to cars AT ALL. And that should tell you something.
I remember when this car debuted here in the US. It was hard to get people back into the Hyundai showrooms after Hyundai offering some of the worst most unreliable and cheapest built cars on the road. I know someone who made the mistake of buying a 1994 Hyundai Excel. She lived at the dealership because her Hyundai was always in for warranty repairs. Even though she vowed that she Would never buy another Hyundai product she was so impressed by the 1995 100 a accent that she ended up buying the loner. Poor Hyundai head the uphill battle of trying to Distance the accent from the excel Since the cars had nothing but a parent brand in common. It's too badd that the 1st couple years of the Hyundai accent someone in the marketing department told them it was a good idea to only market and push the Weirdest Easter egg pastel colors with undignify'd tacky fabric designs. I had forgotten about them in till I saw this review. That's a horrible lavender color in IM surprised he didn't mention the Goofy seat fabrics and door trim patterns.
Since it was an entry-level car, the expected audience was young first-time buyers. This is why they offered youthful color options. They did offer more run-of-the-mill colors as well like dark green metallic if the pastels weren't appealing. Personally, I loved the fun colors!
Love it! I still have a 95 Hyundai Accent. My first car. Runs like a dream.
I have a 99 hyundai accent coupe have not seen another one like it on the roads of Kenya
Me too
Do you still have it?
Yes of course. She is my baby. 🙂@@scdu

I loved it and agree lots of fun with the manual!
This is when Hyundai became reliable in 95 because they started producing their own engines and transmission instead of relying on Mitsubishi.
We love Hyundai Accent X-3 1994-2000!!!I have a Hyundai Accent sedan 1997 model!!!

The car's purple paint was quite eye-catching during its heyday lol
Indeed! This color is actually more of a blue. They did also offer a plum purple metallic, which was just as eye-catching!
The good ol days❤
I had an Emerald Green 2-door hatchback GL model. Drove it for six problem-free years. Traded it in on a 2001 model.
I had a 96 base model L, wish I never gotten rid of it!

This was my first car. Had it for six months, was on my way for yet first oil change and someone hit me and it was totaled.

Hello
How reliable is this car?
I have never seen this car a day in my life. Most likely since I was born 2002
Says alot about hyundais. I've only seen 3 hyundais from the 90s in my life. They seem to not last at all
@@jacobfleming565 I think older Hyundai’s transmissions died after 50,000 miles or something
